While driving home yesterday my AFS Light started blinking. Middle of the afternoon, lights aren't on, and boom, it just starts. So I get home thinking maybe the leveling arm in the rear got loose and crawl under the car, nope, that looks fine. Check the front, no issue there. So... Sure enough the lights don't auto level or 'look' around turns any more.

View 14 RepliesThe ESC warning light has started coming on intermittently on my 06 GLS. Stays solid, not blinking. Turning the car off and starting again resets it but never for long.
The brake light switch was already replaced once at 36K miles. It's now at about 84,500. Do these things have a history of going bad multiple times?
For what it's worth, my little ELM327 ODB II plug-in gadget shows no faults but it may not be able to see the right data. I'm taking it back to the dealer in the morning, where they probably won't fix it and probably will break something else.

View 9 RepliesJust bought 2007 Gs 350 in Dec 2015 with 60k miles. The other day I filled up with gas and drove to work. On the way home check engine light started blinking, check VSC appeared on display screen and traction light came on, car ran rough, and wouldn't accelerate. Got home and searched the net.. So I removed gas cap... No change.. Then removed neg battery cable for 10 min. Fixed problem for about 10 min. Then it all happened again. Next morning took it to Lexus dealer. The rep called and said it gave misfire cylinder 3. They said they checked valve springs and they are good, exchanged coil pack with different cylinder and still misfire #3. He said has to be injector so they want to replace injector ....
View 8 RepliesAfter taking my car to 2008 Lexus GS 350 AWD for an oil change and recall fix, I noticed my iJDMToy LED Parking Lights and Xentec HID for Fog Lamps have stopped working and just blink a very low light the entire time. The parking light starts working fine when the main head lights are off, but as soon as I turn them on, they start to blink again. The fog lamps just constantly blink at a low light level while on. View 5 RepliesI have a 2008 Accent. Yesterday the check engine light started to blink and the car started stuttering and the idle was rough. I've changed the air filter, which worked. But, it was recommended that I change the fuel filter. But, when I went to the parts store, they say that this model has a fuel strainer instead. What is that and where is it on my car? Is it easy to replace?
View 4 RepliesAbout a week ago, my wife's Malibu (~130,000 mi) started exhibiting symptoms I would associate with a problem with the ignition system. It was idling rough, it felt like it was misfiring, and the check engine light started blinking when I was accelerating from stop up to 30-40 mph.
The timing was all weird because of the holiday, and so I didn't take it to get the engine codes pulled right away because I figured Id take care of it this week (we were traveling over the weekend).
My wife just called and said her car won't start at all. The car will try to turn over and she didn't describe anything consistent with a dead battery.
If I can't get it somewhere to get the codes pulled, what might be wrong? To summarize, it started idling roughly and maybe misfiring about a week ago, it sat for four or five days, and now it won't start.
We have a '99 Explorer AWD with the 5.0 and the 4R70W transmission. This morning the "OD off" light started blinking. I looked it up in the owners manual and it said "see your tech" or something like that. I drove it on the freeway and the only thing I can see different is the RPMs are a couple of hundred more @ the same speed. It shifts fine. I put a couple of quarts of fluid in it just to be sure. The white plastic stick is hard to read.

I am having a problem with the 4x4high being on and my ABS light is on also I got the brakes fixed but light is still on and yesterday when it was raining the 4x4hi started blinking don't know y also I have to get 2 upper ball joints don't know if that is y when sometimes I turn the car kind of sounds like the tire is rubbing on something and it kind of jerks. I don't want to have to spend a lot of money on things that aren't wrong.
View 1 RepliesI put aftermarket fog light bulbs and after a while I realized that it was melting the plastic piece that that bulb connects to. I realized it when my light went off then when i play with the socket it turns back on which is a bad connection. I called the dealer up and asked what do I need to do and he told me that I need to change the whole entire wire that connects from the harness, which will run me about a grand.

View 4 RepliesI have an Avalon 2009 with the TMPS indicator blinking for 30 seconds when the car is started and won't go off.
I think this might indicate an issue with the sensor? How do I know which one and how to replace it?
Also, I cannot release the trunk from the button in the car (by my knee) or the trunk release button from the remote.
Does the TMPS light blinking and staying on has anything to do with that?
In the past, when I had a rear signal bulb went out, I couldn't scroll down my window either. Once I replaced it, I was able to.
I wonder if the trunk being locked from automatic release methods is the result of the TMPS light being on.
A few weeks ago while driving to work, my gas light came on and then started randomly blinking and dinging. At the same time, my headlights and dash illumination lights started blinking.
I filled my gas tank and the gas light turned off, but the headlight blinking still remains. When they blink, I can hear a relay? clicking to the left of the steering column.
It seems to take about ten minutes of driving for the problem to develop and then the lights blink every few seconds.
Haven't posted in a long while because...on the coldest day of winter this year (it was around 5 degrees) I took off for work early one morning and before I made it to the highway, my oil light started blinking...I kind of ignored it for a moment because I have a small leak that requires I add about a quart a week (ok maybe this was a good leak already) in any event I had just topped off the oil that morning so I knew I should be alright and since it was so cold I reasoned that it was just an electrical fluke that was gonna clear up once we got warmed up.
Shortly after that I noticed I wasn't really accelerating as quickly as would be normal...so I kinda thought about the blinking light for a second and ended up shutting her down. When I hopped out to look under the hood there was oil everywhere...as well as a trail leading all the way back to my spot in the driveway. I ended up towing her home and she has been sitting since.
Today was the first nice day and I couldn't wait to see what was up so I filled her up with oil again and waited for the leak...nothing. So I put her on the charger and figured it would have to be fairly obvious where the leak was coming from if I fired her up for a second.
I have to say she sounded awful...valves clambering away...but the oil leak revealed itself and I shut her down immediately. I am really hoping that I didn't do that much internal damage and that all the valve noise is primarily from it not being started for so long...but I guess I will have to wait and see on that.
The leak is coming from just to the right of and slightly above the oil filter casing. Its definitely not the casing itself or anything to do with the oil filter...it appears to be just above this thing, what it is but it has a large bolt holding it on (large like the 36mm on the oil filter itself).
The engine light in my 2001 Passat all of a sudden started blinking when I started it this afternoon - for no apparent reason. It feels like it's going to stall and is idling kind of loud.

Then I hear a click and all my stock gauges go out my window and lock switches don't work and my radio doesn't work... Battery light stays on and all signals work as do the mirrors and everything else... I turn the truck off then back on it all comes back on.. 15-20 seconds later I hear the click and all the same stuff is off again.... No seemingly applicable fuses are blown... And the behavior is repeatable...
View 14 Replies2 or 3 years ago my airbag light started blinking. 120,000 miles, only owner. The code changes daily. Then the car started reviving at highway speeds. Then cruise control wasn't reliable. Sometimes when I hit a bump, the cruise goes off. My mechanic said the reviving felt like it was going in and out of overdrive, so he rebuilt the transmission. No change. This past month, the car started to pull to the right. It felt like I was driving with the brake on, couldn't get up a small hill. Before I could get the car home, the brakes went to the floor and the car stalled. I had it towed to mechanic.
After 10 days, he couldn't duplicate problem, so I took the car back. A few days later, after 4 hours of errands in the hot Texas sun, it did it again for me. Pulled to the right, driving with the brake on feel, brakes to the floor. This time it smelled like something was burning, either brakes, belt or something, and the rear ABS light came on for the first time. Latest mechanic says it is probably a brake booster, but that doesn't explain the reviving does it? I've had it to 2 dealers, 3 mechanics, and no one has a clue what to check apparently. I am a senior, so I can't really start replacing everything. What should I tell them to check, and in what order? I love my Aerostar....
I have a 1996 chevy caprice wit a 4.3 v-8 one day i was driving and the car started acting funny and the check engine lite started blinking i had the codes read and 0p300 came up saying multiple misfire so I changed the plug wires they all connect in the front around the harmonic balancer well that didn't work its still saying multi misfire so I took a spark plug wire off of the electric dis block and no change in motor now I don't know what to do...
View 5 RepliesThe car is a 2005.5 GLI (75k mi) w/ EvoTech Stg1 software, GHL stack intake, and an Iridium billet diverter valve.
Well today I was driving and the Malfunction Indicator Light on the dash came on and started blinking. When I stepped on the accelerator, the car felt like it had 1/4 the power and began shaking. The car idles kind of weakly, and feels like it has no power when you step on the gas. Also, when you step on the gas the car will shake. The strength of the shaking depends on how hard I press on the throttle, more throttle = more shaking. There is no shaking when it idles or when I have it cruising, only when accelerating.
