So I had a bent wheel and had to replace it and the new one did not have the TPMS sensor so now I get a permanent low tire warning message.
Is there anyway to disable this warning? Alternatively how costly is it to get a new TPMS sensor?
I have a 2013 F250 and to day the TPMS light came on with a low tire warning message. A little back history, I put new tires on the truck when I bought it and they currently have 9200 miles on them. I didn't like having the tires at the 80psi the tire shop set them at so I lowered them to 62psi right away and haven't had any issues with the low pressure warning going off. Today I was backing into a parking spot and the warning light came on with a low tire message. I checked all the tires and they were right where they should be, but when I got home I added another 5psi to see what would happen and the light never went off after taking it on a 10 mile drive.
My question is, do I have a wheel sensor issue or is something messed up in the computer? I know the door sticker says 75psi front/80rear, but I've been running the tires at 62psi for 9200 miles without trouble so I can't think that the pressure is the culprit. Also, does the spare tire have a sensor in it? In the manual in one paragraph it seemed like it does, but in the next it said that the spare doesn't have one so the light will stay on to remind you to change the spare out.
I have one TPMS sensor that incorrectly tells me I have a flat when I do not. I presume the sensor is faulty because the wheel was moved to the rear as part of a recent service and the problem moved with the wheel.
What I find peculiar is that the flat tire warning comes at virtually the same time when I drive, about ten or so minutes into the journey, and leaves about five minutes later, usually not to return. Indeed, when I occasionally drive the car to work, I know when the signal will come on, within about .25 mile.
So I was running stock Lexus 17' rims on my 2008 c350 RWD. The time came to replace the tires and I thought- instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars, why not use my brother's set for free (his stock 17' rims from his 2006 GS300 RWD were just lying in the garage taking up space). They were also 17's. So, I swapped all 4 out, stock rims included. Drove around for a bit and noticed the TPMS warning light came on.
Not the low pressure light, but the actual warning light. This happens every day. The car is fine driving the first 15-20 miles but after that, the light always eventually goes on..then it's magically reset when I start the car the next day.
My is350 F sport tire pressure sensors. Well I have after market wheels with the stock tire pressure sensors, when they were first installed everything was fine, now about 2 months later now that it is a little cooler. My two back sensors are showing the warning light. it still reads the pressure and shows correct pressure but sensor warning light for both rear tires are on. Why this is? I was thinking the colder weather but why only the rear two and not the front. they go off and on but lately both have been on.

Since then the readings are fine with the only exception that I do get the "FLAT TYRE" warning a few minutes after I start my trip and for about 2-3 minutes until it goes off again. Shall I take it back to the dealer for reprogramming, is it something else I should look for...
View 1 RepliesOK, so I've been getting the "Tyre Pressure Monitoring System Fault" warning message repeatedly for some time now. I had the "G" code TPMS control module installed last week (under extended warranty) thinking that that should fix the fault. However, the fault continues.
Do this fault might be due to dead or dying batteries in the TPMS wheel units (not covered under extended warranty)? If not, what else could it be?
Just a little PSA, if your TPMS light shows up, and all the tires (including the spare) are at the proper psi, check the button below the glove box. As long as the warning light is solid, its likely someone pushed the button. I almost paid $120 in diagnostic fee and $150 for a new sensor at the dealer because for some reason, no one knew about this button, or didn't want to tell me.
View 5 RepliesThis is the third time my TMPS light and "Low Tire Pressure" message have popped on... I have checked all (4) tires and they are still exactly where I had them inflated several weeks back when I went through this the last time. What the threshold pressure is to set the TMPS warning off? I do run about 10psi lower than the door sticker because the door sticker pressure was too much and wearing the center of my rear tires... I just find it odd and frustrating that there are no problems for a period of time, and then all of a sudden I have to go through and over-inflate the tires for a few miles for the TPMS sensors to reset and clear the light, and then drop back down to where I need them for proper tire wear and it seems OK for weeks, and now here we go again
View 2 RepliesIs the TPMS system in our cars capable of learning or being programmed to know which tire sensor is where? I know with my Vag-com I can separately see each sensor that is talking to the module.
Do we have the ability to do anything so the MFD is able to tell you which tire is low?
So tonight I'm driving on I-80 and all of a sudden I hear a thud, the TPMS light comes on and a warning of low tire pressure. I get out to take a lot and the rear left tire is practically flat. Changing the tire was pretty easy once I figured out where everything was in the tray.
So now I'm in the market for a replacement tire as there was a huge hole in tread. I have a about 3000 miles on the car. Would you get a replacement tire that is the same make/model as the rest of the tires, or would you simply get a cheaper replacement? Once I am ready to replace the rest of the tires, I'm not sure if I would replace them with the OEM make/model anyway. At the same time I'm not sure how long the OEM's will last.
Had the first flat, and after it was fixed, screen warning and yellow TPMS light don't go away. Does it reset itself automatically after 'x' ignition cycles, or do we need one of those TPMS tools to reset it? No mention of this in the manual. Need to know before I blame Discount Tire for damaging the sensor. But since they don't charge to fix flats, don't know if I'd be able to get anything from them.

View 4 RepliesThursday driving home from work, the thing started dinging and all sorts of lights started flashing at me. I looked in the manual and (finally) found that it is the TPMS. The orange light on the left side blinks for 1 minute and then stays on steady. I also see "Check System" in the display under the speedometer and there is a red light with an explanation point (!) on the right side. Checked all tire pressure. All were at 30 PSI. Checked spare, it was good. Manual says if it blinks and stays steady, contact your dealer. Called...they can't look at it until Feb. 12. I drive 40 miles a day on average. Not a lot, but by 2/12 that is several hundred miles. what could be wrong and if i should still be driving this car?
View 14 RepliesI bought a used 2011 Ford Escape Ltd. which now has 21000 miles on it. The tire pressure sensor indicated a tire was low (it was), and I filled it. Now I intermittently get a message of "Tire pressure sensor fault." The dealer checked it when they changed the oil but it's still coming on, usually when I'm at high speed. It goes off again by itself. Is it important for me to do something?
View 5 RepliesGot a 'Tire Pressure Sensor Fault' message a few times on the way back from Florida. Tire pressures were all fine. Hate that it doesn't say which monitor has the problem. Anyway... it comes on, but after a few minutes goes back off. Saw it a total of three times over the course of 1,000 miles in two days. Is this the sensor failing and requiring replacement? Or is the system itself starting to fail? Would ESP cover this?
View 6 RepliesThe warning in the title has been appearing for months. Push reset and the display message goes away but the orange light stays on. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's gone after a restart for a day or two. Sometimes it stays on no matter how many times the truck is shut down and restarted in a day.
So I finally took it into Ford for service today because the truck is still under warranty. They ask if the tires have been replaced. Obviously they have because I've got BFG KO2s that are a size or two bigger than stock. But I explained that the tires have been on for several months and that the issued did not present itself when the truck came out of the tire shop. It didn't happen until a couple of months later.
So they tell me that their tool can't even detect that any sensors are present and that they'll break down a tire to check and see that a sensor is there. Two & a half hours later they tell me that they've ordered a body control module and cut me loose with the truck. They'll call when the part is here.
So I put the summer rims on the wife's B6 Wagon. Besides breaking out my VAGCOM and turning off this option. The error/warning light is getting annoying

View 14 RepliesSo I feel like this is more of vent than anything but anyways, it all started yesterday when I noticed one of my tires had the TPMS light pop up. I went to the gas station on my way home and put some air in it and everything was good. This morning I get in my car and its the same tire but now at 7 psi so I have a leaking tire. I bring it to costco to see if they can do a quick tire repair instead I find out my alignments been screwed up and it has worn down all 4 of my tires on the inside. I saw it for myself and its been worn down on them pretty bad. I'm in the process of getting the Michelin Pilot Sports by tomorrow and will need to get an alignment.
Lexus dealership didn't catch this when I brought it in last month for an oil change and they did their so called "inspection." Maybe they don't check for alignment issues but wouldn't they have noticed the uneven wear on my tires??? Also my IS350 is all stock and isn't dropped or anything. Why my alignment would've been messed up?
