I've noticed a couple of times with my 2014 Luxury edition a noise coming from around the spare tire area when the vehicle is parked and shut off even for several hours. Could this be the air shocks?
View 1 RepliesExperienced a buzzing noise from left rear wheel well. I have noticed it a couple of times after the car has been parked in the garage and sitting for awhile. The dealer said it is normal and the auto suspension readjusting. However, it will continue for a long time but will turn off if I start it up. I am concerned this normal leveling will burn out the motor in do time. We have a 2010 premium.
View 9 RepliesSeveral times I have gone into my garage to hear a weird noise coming from under the rear of my car, almost sounds like a small air compressor, like one you would plug into the cars power source. If I start the car and immediately turn it off the sound stops, otherwise it will continuously run. The sound does not always present but when it does the car is completely off and the key is not anywhere near it.

Celebrating the new ride - a real solid, luxury car. Noticed a small motor racket in the garage. traced back to the rear e-brake. Start-stop and it went away. Saw plenty of threads on brake noise - experienced this problem while parked (hours later)?

View 14 RepliesMy wife's 04 GX deflates sometimes when we park it, you can clearly hear a loud "whooshing" noise occasionally when we park it in our garage. The rear then goes to the lowest possible setting, it looks odd laying that low. Because it's not my car, I don't know if it always did that, but it seems "new" to me.
The deflation sound is coming from the rear mounted compressor on the rear driver side, I went under the car to investigate. It also appears that the air bags themselves aren't leaking, I raised the car to the highest setting, and it stayed there without the compressor kicking on or any leaking noise.
My guess is maybe the sensors need to be replaced, the thing is, I don't want to "shotgun" parts at a problem and spend $500 or so dollars on new sensors to experiment. How do I know the rear is behaving correctly?
If I park the car at the airport for 10-14 days, do I need to disable the remote key fob? I could not find any information on this in the manuel. I have a Prius 2014.
View 6 RepliesTook my 2014 GX in for 5k miles service even though it has only 1K miles (bought it in Nov 13). The service write up person recommended oil change (10K service). I was cool with that because I still believe in first oil change in 1K miles when the car is new regardless of what car manufacturer says.
After 1 hr waiting, the shop manager told me that my GX needs to stay longer because they discovered a small leak in rear main seal. From what I read on the internet, it is a time consuming repair.
I don't drive the car much, 1k miles in 7 month. It is parked indoor most of the time. I do drive it 5-10 miles every 2-3 wks to cycle the car. I also use battery tender to keep the battery charged.
I was surprised that this happened. My friend's 2014 GX (he bought it because I told him Lexus is much more reliable than his LR3) had his back up camera replaced at 3K miles.
My 2010 Prius was hit while parked. The left side was wiped out and the whole car was pushed sideways about 2-3 inches, with the parking brake on. Toyota checked out the car and said everything looked fine. But there is this odd sounding humm coming from the rear of the car. Toyota says that is normal. Is this true?

View 8 RepliesWeird thing yesterday, noticed a rotational tick sound coming from the right rear wheel during slow backing up with the windows down. Sounded like debris stuck between the dust shield and the rotor. Had that tinny sound. Anyway, no dealer around in the town I was at. Closest is over two hours away and not in the direction of home which was four hours away.
I was visiting friends, and decided to jack the truck up and pull the wheel off and clear whatever debris was stuck in there. Pulled the wheel and didn't see anything. Rotated the hub and could still hear the noise. I pulled the caliper next and made sure nothing was in there. There wasn't. Ok, must be in behind the disc in the parking brake shoe area and making contact with the dust shield. I pulled the caliper mount and then the rotor. Still didn't see any debris or anything foreign. What I did see was a bunch of metal filings on the inner side of the brake shoes all around the backing plate. Also a fair amount of metal filings in the drum portion of the rotor.
Rotated the hub again, and noticed the noise coming from the retaining pin cap on the rear most shoe. It was rubbing against the backside of the hub. As the hub rotated the cap spun and made noise as the spring gave way and turned. This made sense for the noise and the metal filings. The cap was still in place and the pin was not being touched yet by the back of the hub. I reassembled it all and decided the further drive home was not going cause more harm than what was already done.
Dropped off at my local dealer this morning and explained the above. The technician confirmed it as well, and ordered the a new retaining pin. Some how it got out of tolerance and caused itself to be longer than it should have. The tolerance appeared close from the front side shoe that was not rubbing.
2014 RX 350 - 8700 miles - Rear Main Seal Leak
Very disappointed that my new RX with only 8700 miles and has never even had an oil change now has a rear main seal leak. The dealership says that the gasket was defective and that there is no other visible damage. The dealership has filed a case with Lexus corporate.
Granted that it will soon be fixed at no cost to me, it's still very disappointing that a brand I hold so high for quality has let me down in such a big way.
I have a 2010 F150. When parked for a period of time, it kills the battery. It flashes the lights on and off as though the remote were locking and unlocking the doors and after a couple of weeks there is not enough juice in the battery to start the truck. Ford has been unable to find the problem, they replaced the headlight switch which did not correct the problem.

I've noticed at times that after having parked the car in the garage for several hours, that there is a soft "whirring" sound on the passenger side rear of the car. I'm assuming this is the battery fan, because it sounds like a fan and I can't think of anything else back there that would make a "fan"-like sound? Is there any other device back there that could make a "fan"-like sound while parked (it's cold weather here, so it's probably around 40 deg. F or less in the garage)? It makes this noise for 5-10 min. and then stops. If this is the battery fan, why would it run when the car is cold?
View 15 RepliesThis is a first for me. Came in last night after my 140 mile commute and pulled into my garage and turned off my car ('16 IS350F). This morning(approx. 10 hrs.later) I went into the garage and heard a humming noise. I thought it was the refrigerator, but as I walked around the back of the car,it was obvious the noise was originating from the right rear. It sounded(to me) just like the fuel pump running,but that made no sense as it isn't on the "hot" battery bus...ie: it doesn't run until the accessory power is provided. I got in the car and cranked it....let it run for a couple of minutes and shut it down and the humming stopped.

As background I drove my IS250 for about 1hr yesterday and parked it for the night around 10pm inside a garage. This morning at around 7am (9 hours later), I came down to the garage to hear the buzzing "fan" noise. I am not sure what it is. The vehicle was OFF. I managed to record the noise.

That said, the buzzing noise couldn't be something left on overnight... since the battery was fine. The car proceeded to start just fine. What do you think it is? Can it be some sort of fuel vent pump or something?
Can I disable unlocking of all the doors when I open the rear hatch from the outside? I figured out that if I use my fob, the doors does not unlock.

Brought car into the dealership to repair my rear main for a second time. Looks like every 5,000 miles the leak shows up.
The dealership has repaired the rear main seal a second time, and guess what?
Two days later at the dealership the car started leaking oil again.
So now it's been identified that the entire short block needs to be replaced. Should take another week to repair.
This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a new car. Now I have a relatively new car (10,300 miles) that has had 2 rear main seals repaired, a short block replaced, replaced front parking sensors, and a radio that displays the wrong time when first starting the car.
Just got a 2010 lariat supercrew...I put 1900 miles on it so far. When slowly letting off the accelerator (doing between 20-30 mph and between 1000-1500 rpm) there is a distinct rubbing sound for about 1-2 seconds...it is now sounding more like grinding now...took it to the shop today...(they couldn't duplicate (because service rep documented 60 mph instead of the 20-30 mph...went back at the end of the day to ride with the tech, and i was able to duplicate so now they have something to work with....also the noise happens mostly when the path of travel is either level road or slight to great incline..it has not happened on a down slope....

( I don't know if this is from the suspension or not and I only notice this noise when there are passengers in the back). The clunking noise is really annoying.
