I drove my car to downtown Cleveland and when I was leaving a parking garage, I tried to squeeze through and exit and heard my rim scrape the curb. Luckily, only two spokes and the outer rim only got rashes. It look terrible since it's a black wheel, with yellow and white on it now...
View 14 RepliesI just recently bought a 2014 Prius v and it has a scrape/dent on the roof that has some rust (I knew about it going into the purchase). I was quoted around $700 to get it repaired, but I am wondering how difficult it might be for me to fix it on my own. My reasoning is that this vehicle is going to be used for road trips and car camping, in addition to being my daily driver, so I expect that it will get fairly dinged up over the course of my ownership. I'm not super concerned about the dent, mainly just the rust. So if possible, I'm hoping to save some money on the repair and just remove the rust and paint the effected area. Also, with it being on the roof it's not something that stands out that much so I'm not looking for the perfect visual repair.
View 18 RepliesI hit a curb while making too sharp of a right hand turn a week ago and now I notice some vibration in the steering wheel as I drive down the highway. The tire I hit was the rear passenger side. If I get wheel balancing done, do I need to just balance that tire or all of them?
View 3 RepliesI have a Mazda Miata 2001, 152,000 miles. It's developed a metallic scrape from the right rear wheel. When I'm driving about 20 mph it sounds like a scritch every half-a-second or so, and if I'm going faster it just blurs into a metallic scrape. When I tap the brakes, it usually stops, and then it'll come back a little bit later (maybe when I hit a bump?) It comes and goes, but it seems to be more persistent now (or maybe I'm just always listening for it).
I took the wheel off and sprayed brake cleaner everywhere and I thought that had fixed it, but it came back again after a week maybe.
I've read quite a few instances in this forum of unintended acceleration in the Toyota Sienna. Well it happened to me this morning. I was pulling into my parking spot at work with my foot lightly on the brake, going about 5 or 10 mph when the vehicle suddenly accelerated as if someone had floored the accelerator. The vehicle went up over the curb and into the side of the building. When I told the policeman what had happened, he said that isn't possible. I told him it was possible because it just happened to me. I had it towed to the dealership, called my insurance company and Toyota to make a report of the incident. They will be sending someone out to check out the car, but I'm sure they won't say there is anything wrong with it. I'm sure it won't be impartial since they don't want to be held liable. I also made a complaint with the NHTSA. I am afraid to drive the car and will never buy a Toyota again.

Secondly, have some weird boost issue, boost gauge use to read 5 psi with front mount now its at 2 psi and their are no leaks in the IC system.. can't figure out what it is (turbo only has 3k miles on it) final question what causes a clunking noise every time i go over bumps and curbs?
View 4 RepliesMy '02 4x2 has developed this half scrape half squeak noise in drive. 140k, 55RE trans, all original drivetrain. It sounds like someone wrapped a wire coat hanger to the driveshaft. (No, I looked). It seems to be in sync with the speed of the shaft or wheels. U-joint maybe? If I have to take it to a garage I'd like to have some clue what to tell them to look for.

Had a wheel alignment done and they said there are no bent parts other than a dent on the rim itself, but I'm hearing this strange rattling/drilling sound every time I decelerate. It sounds like I may have damaged the wheel bearing or CV joint?

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra (manual transmission). I recently started noticing this horrible metal screech/squeal/scraping sound when my car starts moving from a stopped position. It's the worst when the car starts moving after it's been still for a bit. I thought it was due to the cold weather because when it started getting warmer, the noise issue went away. Unfortunately, the weather is warm, and it's back in full force.
The noise almost sounds like the noise that some semi-trucks (or large buses) make when they press on the brake. But my car only makes the noise when it starts moving and it only lasts a few seconds. It also doesn't happen every single time, which makes it even more frustrating.
I've got about 115,000 miles on the car...
I had been waiting a long time for a remote start solution to be available for my 2014 IS-250 with navigation. I finally saw idatalink released a firmware for their ADS-ALCA bypass module that allows you to add a remote start that is triggered by the factory keypad. It was a fairly easy installation and it started up right away. I do have car installation experience, but I didnt find the installation to be that difficult in general.

View 8 RepliesI cannot get a rear wheel drive 350F sport in the northeast unless I order one and wait 3 months + for delivery. I never drive in snow or ice. I can get an AWD. I don't want the extra cost, weight and complexity of AWD. However I would consider it if the fun and handling factor was not much worse then the RWD.

View 4 RepliesProblems getting an alignment AFTER lowering. seems no one in my area has the old fashioned machine where it clamps on the wheel edge,they have the ones that clamp on the outside of the tire,which limits the rotation of the wheel if the body is too close. I am on rsr downs with Vossens,which wont work at all, so hoping the stock wheels will.
