Not sure if this is normal with the air suspension but over poor city roads at low speed, there is a light rattling noise from the suspension. I think it is the front. Sounds like worn bushings but the car has only done 30,000 miles.
If this is the sort of early symptoms that would be expected with wear in the control arms?
Why my suspension is so loud and clunky are doing a swaybar link and upper control arm replacement? I did remove the air suspension unit in order to access and remove the bolts that hold the upper control arm bracket mount onto the frame.
I did not think that would do any harm. Now my suspension is way louder than it ever was to begin with.. I just did a visual inspection and saw that my original parts were cracked and worn in the bushings and links. So I did a swap.

I have an 04 rx 330 with air suspension. The swaybar end links have just been replaced on the front and a rattling noise persists.
The noise happens over large and small bumps at high and low speeds at normal and low vehicle height. When the height is at "HI" the noise is louder and it feels as though the front end is shaking loose over bumps at 10 km/h+.
I took it in and was advised to replace the end links, they did so and returned it claiming the noise was gone. The air compressor and struts are in working condition.
I have done a search through the forum, not extensive... I was wondering which other components come loose/wear and cause a clunk/rattle/shudder noise.
Also, tires are new and at approx. 32-34 psi.
I am having a noise when I brake its almost like a rattling noise I am hearing from the rare passenger side i think.
I checked and made sure there was nothing loose rolling around in the trunk. any nothing loose.
I've recently experienced a rattling(vibration)/growling noise around the engine when the car is running with the AC on. The sound gets louder when I put the car in drive and it goes away when I turn the AC off. The sound seems to be coming from underneath or next to the engine(right of engine when sitting in the car/left of engine when standing over the hood facing the engine)
I took it to Lexus and they told me its likely the water pump. The car drives great and I'm not noticing any leaks(water or otherwise) underneath the car. I had to park the car for 6 weeks while on a military exercise, and don't recall hearing the noise before going away. could 6 weeks of inactivity on the engine have anything to do with this?
When I start up my LS460, i hear some rattling noise comming from the engine..sounds like rocks/sand? im not sure but it only happens when i start up the car..after that..the car is completely quiet and drives perfectly fine...
View 14 RepliesJust came from dealer because of a rattling noise coming from the front end. They said it was caliper piston. They also said its common just that some is not as loud others. They are trying to fix it.
View 1 RepliesExperienced a noise that is evident when the side window is down which seems to coming from underneath the car. It is difficult to describe but it is a ticking / light metallic sound. Possibly coming from the exhaust system area. It is particularly annoying at a drive through window where the sound reflects off the building.
View 7 RepliesOur 07 RX350 has 47,000 miles and I just starting to hear (I think from the front) a faint rattling noise while driving. It's hard to describe but it sort of sounds like what you might expect if an empty plastic bottle was slowly bumping around in a plastic box. It is not a metal on metal type of noise. The shocks/struts appears to pass the old bounce test and the car does not seem to display any of the handling issues you get when you have worn shocks/struts.
I also checked the upper engine compartment to see if any plastic shrouds or covers were loose - they weren't.
So a few months ago I started hearing some clunking under the vehicle so I got under there and sure enough the control arm bushings were shot. Took it in to Lexus for service and had them look while at it to confirm that is indeed the issue. After replacing all 8 of the front end control arms and 2 of the ball joints the clunking is still there. Seems to only do it while turning. Regardless whether giving it gas or braking.
What it might be? Its fairly loud and definitely coming from the front suspension (I can feel it through the steering). The control arms are brand new. The ball joints are brand new. Just checked the tie rods and they're are in good shape. What else should I check for?
I have a 2007 RX350 with about 243,000kms on it. I recently purchased this car and everything is great on it except one thing. As of late, I've begun to take notice that when I accelerate from a stand still (for example after stopping at a light/stop sign), a loud rattling/grinding starts and then as I pick up speed and change gears, it fades away. The sound is more rattling than grinding. As if there is a metal bowl with some smalls stones in it and someone is just shaking that. There is also another sub issue that I'm having. There seems to be a clicking noise every time I apply the brakes or even accelerate. The same clicking noise reoccurs every time I put the gear into drive from neutral. However, when I do that, there is only click as opposed to braking/accelerating, where there are many. I'm hoping this is all part of the same issue and not isolated issues.
View 1 RepliesSo just yesterday, I'm driving and I noticed that dreadful thunking suspension noise. Is this the control arm problem I've been hearing about so much? The 2007 only has 40,000 miles on it. I guess the age of the car is the culprit there right? Or maybe these arms really do go out quickly.

Like an air compressor for a few seconds. It's not loud, but you definitely hear the whine/air type noise. It's almost not even bothersome for me as I've gotten used to it. But when my wife or others are in the car they always ask "what is that"
One issue is unresolved with my 2007 LS 460 L. Minor noise from the suspension area on rough roads at low speeds, it is a rattle sound that is intermittent on rough roads or parking lots. I tried two dealerships but the issue remains unresolved. Most recently the second dealer said it is fixed and had the following listed in the sheet "ADJUSTED ENGINE COVER NOISE IN FRONT SUSPENSION - 99259 INSULATED METAL ENGINE COVER, ROAD TESTED WITH 2 TECHNICIANS TO CONFIRM NO ADDITIONAL NOISES ".
After few weeks, noise is reappearing occasionally.
I have an 08 LS base model, and recently while driving I'll hear a knocking noise coming from the rear suspension. This is every time I'll go I'll go over a bump. The knock is the same as when I had my 03 Acura TL .
View 6 RepliesI have 2010 LS460L with 76K miles and I hear rattle noise in from driver and passenger side. I took it to the Lexus service center and they said it's the air suspension problem and need to replace this part and would cost about $2K per suspension.
My question is is there anyway I could convert this air suspension to standard coil or gas shocks from Air suspension??
I will be using this for a Limo in NYC and the road conditions are terrible and air suspension is not going to last that long and they are expensive.
New LS 460 owner (2010 swb). Owned the car for two months now and started hearing a clunk noise from the rear when the car accelerates very slowly. Showed it to the dealer and they could not replicate.
Also hearing a water rustling noise from the right side (appears to be coming from the passenger door); again, this occurs only when the car is accelerating gently from rest.
I have a 2009 460 awd with adjustable suspension and when making a right turn the front left side makes a noise. I have had the dealer look at it 5 times or more but each time I am told that there are no problems. Now that the weather is getting colder it is becoming more pronounced.
View 7 RepliesAny 'rattle' from their front suspension when going over high-frequency, low speed bumps (manhole covers, potholes etc)?Sounds like a loose strut mount or shock. It's not a creaking sound - a definite rattle - so I don't think it's the engine mount issue that I've read about elsewhere. Car is brand new and is going in for a 60 day courtesy check in a couple of weeks.

I recently about a year ago installed DG springs it did this a little before I replaced the springs but now its louder. it sounds like either a mount is loose or something is broken. I live on a dirt road so I hear it a lot on the small bumps. could it be the upper strut bearing? or the fact the coils are shorter? I have 112k on the clock and Id like to take it to willow springs soon but am concerned about this. One more thing it doesn't drive weird..
View 3 RepliesI have 2007 hyundai elantra se with hankook optimo h426 tires. I like the car, everything is very nice except, the tires. I'm driving a lot in the streets and when i hit a bump or pothole, the car making a lot of noises(rattling noise) coming from the suspension (all 4 wheels). The dealer check suspension and said that evrery thing is good.I also think that suspension working properly, because a can not believe that all four shocks not gonna work properly at the same time. Can be this from the low quality of the tires and if i change the tires ,this gonna solve the problem?
