My 07 460 is now on its 3rd set of front shocks ( air suspension) . I drive always in comfort mode and they get very rattly and make chattering noises as soon as they get to 10k mark ... The dealer keeps replacing them as it's still in warranty but it seems crazy ... Does this still happen with the 2013 onwards upgrade model too ??

View 14 RepliesI have taken it to the dealership and they claim they can't hear anything and I'll have to wait for it to get worse. The noise emanates from the front left wheel well area. It is only heard at low speeds (under 20-25mph) on areas of semi-rough or undulating pavement. It sounds like a loose shock or something....
I've seen on other boards that there have been problems with other Lexus vehicles and the struts, upper and lower insulators, mounts and bump stops.
My LS460 recently developed a rattle from the front drivers side. It's triggered more by rumbles/vibrations from an uneven surface rather than speed bumps or large pot holes.
It sounds a bit like a washer vibrating on a metal tray (for what that's worth)!
Interestingly though it gets a LOT worse when the car is in 'Comfort' suspension mode, and is nowhere near as bad in 'Sports' mode. So it seems that having the suspension higher gives this thing more room to rattle.
I noticed in the service history that the front passenger air strut was replaced 30k ago, so I'm worrying that there is a large bill on the horizon.
I have an 07 Passat 2.0T with 48,000+ on it. I tend to overthink any little sound my car makes that doesn't seem normal and this one has me perplexed. When I am driving at low speeds, windows down, I hear what amounts to a "psst" sound come from my front shocks only. I understand I have gas shocks on the front but it doesn't seem like any other car makes this sound.
The ride is comfortable and the sound does not seem to affect the suspension feel. Is this a normal sound? Do you think there is an issue with the shocks? I have been searching high and low for someone with a passat that has written about this sound from the shocks.
Secondly, I changed the oil in my car (ES350) and noticed the shocks had gone out in the hood. Darn thing just wouldn't stay up. Went to Lexus and it will be replaced. So I am trying to purchase the hood shocks at Sewellparts.com to change the bad hood shocks. I read somewhere on the web that if I register I could use a code or something to get a discount. I have registered but still don't have a discount code.
View 4 RepliesI notice when the AC is on, the rpm is around 800 and I can clearly hear the rattle of the compressor. When I switch off the AC, the rpm's drop to 500 and the noise is much reduced. Is this typical for our LS460 models?
View 1 RepliesJust had my front shocks replaced (one was leaking) at a local indy shop. The GX rides so much better now!
Problem is when I picked it up this morning, the VCS, ABS, traction lights were all on. Checked the gas cap, but that's okay (actually had the cap replaced recently due to a bad cap causing the same problem).
What would cause the lights to go on after replacing the front shocks? Is it merely a coincidence I wonder or did the tech perhaps forget to connect something?
I own a high-mileage (115,000) 2007 RX 350 that has developed a rattle when I travel over 60 mph. I am having a hard time locating it although I'm pretty sure it is in the driver's side door. All molding is secure and pressure applied anywhere on the door does not stop the noise. If I open the door and "shake" it, I do not hear anything loose.
It is a intermittent rattle that oscillates in volume and only when I hit speeds over 60mph. Usually resonates around 70 or 80 mph. It almost sounds like a loose nut vibrating on the window glass inside the door.
On occasion, I have had rattle noise coming from above the radio and behind the nav screen.
View 11 RepliesI kept hearing some noise for quite sometime on rough roads, but never on highways. I thought it is related to suspension and kept complaining to the dealer and they would promptly come back with everything is alright. During the weekend I went to a different dealer and mentioned about the noise and the tech did the test ride and immediately pointed it out as dash rattle. The tech was able to place his hand on the dash close to the windshield (slightly to the right of the steering wheel) and the noise stopped on the rough roads. I have 97K miles right now on the car and I have the extended warranty I shared this with the service rep and he is going to let me know if it will be covered.
View 8 RepliesI have a strange rattling sound coming from the driver side area outside the car. BUT ... I only hear the rattling sound when I get over 50 mph. I tried to narrow it down but still no luck. Here is what I investigated so far
1) Thought it was the driver side front wheel or underside molding ... Pulled wheel and looked at the plastic molding ... Some loose so I made sure it was tightened ... Still hear noise
2) Checked the luggage rack ... Removed railings and still hear noise
3) Removed the driver side door panel to check for anything loose ... Did not find anything out of order .
4) Tightened driver side mirror ... still hear sound
Need to change the rear coil over shocks and have a possible how to?

View 2 RepliesI have 2010 LS460L with 76K miles and I hear rattle noise in from driver and passenger side. I took it to the Lexus service center and they said it's the air suspension problem and need to replace this part and would cost about $2K per suspension.
My question is is there anyway I could convert this air suspension to standard coil or gas shocks from Air suspension??
I will be using this for a Limo in NYC and the road conditions are terrible and air suspension is not going to last that long and they are expensive.
Some customers may experience a buzz or slight rattle noise from the rear portion of the headliner when the vehicle hits small sharp bumps. It has been determined that the source of such a rattle may be the Tire Pressure Warning System (TPWS) antenna located above the headliner between the rear of the sliding roof opening and the top of the back glass.
Well, after a few months of frustration hearing a buzzing in the back seats, i notice this bulletin on the 07 ES and I've tested on my 08 car and it is the same, simply tapping on the roof liner or pulling it and releasing it makes a buzzing sound. Even when i tap on the glass roof, the buzzing sound is resonating. Would the dealer rectify this issue if my car is a 08 ? I'm still under warranty.
Just came from dealer because of a rattling noise coming from the front end. They said it was caliper piston. They also said its common just that some is not as loud others. They are trying to fix it.

While doing a front brake job, I noticed that the driver's side wheel hub while rotating it sounded noisy, it did not rotate as smoothly when compared to the right side. I have also noticed while driving that their is a slight humming noise from the front but always attributed it to the Bridgestone Turanazas. Maybe it is the tires and I just over reacting. Is this normal for the hub? Here is a video clip with sound. Is this wheel hub going bad?

At first I thought maybe the fan but no it's more of an electrical static buzzing.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2011 ES 350, 30k miles. Tires were rotated at 23k. Now I am hearing a whooping noise in the front end. Took car back to garage and told them about the noise. They balanced the tires- still having that noise and it gets loader when speed increases.
View 2 RepliesI purchased a used LS 460L w/ 60k miles after a few months noticed a rumbling sound front end noise took it to dealer was told upper and lower control arms and bushings needed to be replaced at a cost of $4,000. Looking for options have a friend with LS460 w/90k miles no problems must be the L version issue ???
