Any way to change the display settings so the screen does not come on at startup? I find it very distracting to drive with the NAV on when I don't need it, but it's a pain to always have to go through the menus to turn it off every time I drive. Can't find anything in the manual on this.

View 12 RepliesI read that I can change the start up pics on my GS nav screen when starting the car. I like the default ones but would like to try something new. When I went to transfer my images in the directory, it asked if I really wanted to delete the existing ones. I was under the impression that what is default remains and that I can install new ones also. Does the default ones will be removed from car nav system?
View 5 RepliesToday I decided to do some maintenance on the truck as it needed an oil change and some other unrelated misc stuff.
1. I seafoamed the engine thoroughly. I bought two cans of this stuff, half of a can went into the fuel, another half can in through the brake booster vacuum hose, and I dumped a full can of into the oil. Took it for a 30 minute drive, let the ol' gal smoke as it usually does on a seafoam, and then changed the oil. No noises, I noticed immediately improvement in acceleration.
2. Upon intial startup after the oil change, I thought the motor was coming apart. It was only for about two seconds, (i was counting to make sure) if it didn't have oil pressure and no noise by 3, I was shutting it off. It hasn't done it since.
Is it possible I just knocked some crap loose in the heads causing the oil drain a lot faster into the pan than I expected? I'll try it again in a few hours after everything has cooled off and oil has drained back into the pan, but I wanna make sure I didn't damage anything. Still drives good, no problems, no noises since.
The last oil change I did, I didn't do a Seafoam, but I figured with winter coming it's a good idea to get her running in top form. I used Pennzoil Platinum 5w20, with a Motorcraft oil filter for those wondering.
Truck has 133K on the clock, and it's had the slight cam phaser tick since I've purchased it, no other problems. I bought it almost a year ago.

I played with the buttons and followed the info I found by city. But I could follow them I guess. Some of the information mentioned I couldn't see on my module. My module isn't new so maybe I need to do a full reset.
How do you hook up the speed option and what is it for?
Our 2009 lx just came off warranty. Unless it is immediately re-started, the a/c is not retaining the temperature and fan settings when the vehicle is turned off. When re-started, auto setting for a/c comes on but fan does not. After about 30 seconds, temperature setting reads 75 degrees and fan has to be manually turned on.

There is moisture or dirt blocking the part of my settings display on my dashboard. I can't see the "Trip A/ Miles left before empty" area. Dealer said it was glue inside the dashboard. They ordered a new plastic window. I think it looks like moisture buildup... How would glue have gotten up there? I am fearful that the area will spread and I will not be able to see more of this area.... Car is a 2010 Model 3 with 12,000 miles.. 10 months old...

The nav display shows the remaining time and distance to my destination. I've used Garmin units in the past that tell me what my estimated arrival time is. Can I change to show this instead?
I'm running iOS 5 on an iPhone. I can stream music nicely thru it, though I have to set up the proper app on the phone before doing so. It even lets me skip a selection playing on Pandora using the steering wheel up arrow button. My question is if I'm playing from the Music app, can I change playlists or albums using the steering wheel controls?
I am trying to set my locking system so that one touch on the remote (lock or unlock) will control both doors and the hatch, instead of having selective unlocking; I can't find this in the MFD menus, and I can't seem to access Controller 46 through VCDS, or anywhere else I'd expect to find that function. but where to change this setting?

Is there a way to change the default operation to the parallel parking mode? I have looked in the owner's manual and can't find the information. I will admit that I could have missed the information, but I don't think I have.

My only question is, is there any way to change the settings on the remote start? I lock my car, hit the remote start, car turns on and all is well.
But when I unlock my car, the engine stops running. It just seems a little redundant to have the car shut itself off when its already locked, as other manufacturers seem to keep the car running after the unlock button has been hit.
I have a 2010 Toyota Camry 4cyl. My car will automatically change from recirculating air setting to open air on its own. No matter vent setting I have it on. I took it into the dealership. The said they didn't notice anything. So I was checking to see if this is normal, bad relay or switch or whatever.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 Prius Wagon. Have noticed that I can go into the General setting and should be able to change from kilometers to miles. Go through all the steps, selecting miles as the new option, and then nothing happens. There is no screen to save settings, so nothing happens.
On the other hand why would those smart apples designing this system just not link to whole process to the button on the dash that changes the speedometer function. Just like it did in my 2005 Malibu!!!
So I recently bought a Ross-Tech cable and have been doing some coding and was a little disappointed when I wasn't able to change the diff lock settings. After exploring a little more I came across Byte 1 bit 6 in CAN Gateway [32] Differential Locking. I tried checking it and then going back to adjust the diff lock settings but still no dice .
My vehicle is 2010 Golf TDI 5 door.
I went to school and parked at 8:00 AM. Came out at 1:00 in the afternoon and started the car. The crank was fine but for about one second the RPM dipped to around 300 before recovering to the normal 900-1000 RPM like that of a cold start. I replaced the alternator myself 1500 miles ago so I don't think that's it.

Afterward, on the multi-display (I have the smaller, "headsup" display), I see the message, "Settings (Press and hold)". I figured out how to enter the Settings menu, and I have tinkered with every option there-- "Eco", "Steering OFF", etc. But no matter what I do, the "Settings (Press and hold)" message will not go away.
Any way to keep the nav page displayed when on a phone call? I have a 2008 SC 430 with the latest software update. Every time a call comes in, or out, I lose the nav display the duration of the call. makes it hard to navigate while trying to conduct business.
