I like using the App that starts the car before I head outside the house. It's great so I don't have to sit inside the car while it's freezing.
But I hate it when I open the door, it stops the engine.
Any way I can keep the engine on while I enter the car when I started the engine with the App?
I recently purchased a new 2015 toyota camry XLE v6 and i love it! HOWEVER the remote start feature i have a problem with. I use the Keyfob that came with the car but i just have to press the lock button twice and hold the third time to remotely start the engine. when start the engine with the remote and it starts normally, when i put my hand on the door handle it unlocks normally but when i open the door the engine shuts off and i have to restart the engine when i get in.
No other car i know does this and its annoying. Did they not install it properly? Or can I have it programmed to not shut off the engine when i open the door and just press the start stop button when I get in like any other car. I got an excuse from the dealership that its a security feature on the car but you cant unlock the door without the keyfob being close anyway.
I recently had a remote starter (AutoMate) installed in my 2008 LS460. The remote starter works great but when I open the car door the engine shuts off. I then need to restart by pressing the START button on the dashboard. Is this a safety issue or is this something that can be avoided?

View 19 Replies2012 Prius Five. Dealer installed remote start using the stock key fob. This is the one where you push the twice button twice then press it and hold it for three seconds. The emergency lights flash while in remote start but the car shuts down when a door is opened.
A few problems I'm having is that first off the range stinks. I'm used to a chrysler remote start that I could turn on from the far end of my house and I'd hear the car beep twice to know it was turning on. Plus you can hear the V8 start. The Prius makes no noise so my only confirmation is to look out the window and make sure the flashers are flashing. Any way to have the horn beep to confirm? speaking of which, does this car have a horn?
We have a Tundra and several of my work vehicles that have the remote start that utilizes the stock key fob. Is there a way to do this in a 2015 IS 350 F Sport?
View 8 RepliesI have a question for 11-15 Superduty, regarding the factory option remote door unlock and remote start. How far away does your system operate from?
Mine is good for only 50 ft or so MAX most of the time it won't work until about 15 ft from the truck. Been trying to get the dealer to look into it, but got told today that in the owners manual it is only good to 30 ft. Plus I randomly get a tire pressure sensor fault. The sensors are fine, but since the TPMS and door unlock/ remote start share the same antenna I think the 2 are related.
Since my 2011 would work from 100 yards most of the time I call B.S. on the 30ft. I feel that the new truck should work at least as good as my old one. Besides that 30ft is a complete waste, and virtually useless, in my opinion.
My trunk will open with the FOB and cabin switch.......it will start to open, then reach about 2/3 open and then stops and closes hard. I have a custom interior panel that may be too much weight for the lid, but even when I assist it going up, it still stops and closes hard.
Is there a way to either manually override the auto open/close, or change the sensitivity of the auto close actuator?
I'm unable to open my trunk door with the remote, using the key, or with the switch on the drivers side door. I am also pretty sure it is not frozen shut. Will I need to switch out the complete latch assembly or just need to wd-40 something? This is for a 2000 Passat 1.8T Sedan.
View 4 RepliesWhen our 2008 Outback (75K miles) is running the garage door remote in the car will not open or close the door. New batteries in the remote, so that can't be the cause. We have to turn the car motor off, operate the remote, then start the car again. We have to follow the same procedure when getting back into the garage. This just started about a month ago and does not happen with any of the other cars in the garage when opening or closing the same door, i.e. the remotes operate with their motors running. Is it possible there is some new electrical discharge from the car that is causing this? Something unusual with the alternator? Other possible causes?

My ls gmc yukon and has no problem but it doesn't have this push button. I want to have a remote installed in my wifes car didn't think it was going to be a problem.

When I bought the car, I could use the remote to lock the doors while a door is open, such as when I am stepping out of the car. Then when the door shuts, it beeps to confirm a lock. This feature went away, and now it won't do anything while a door is open; presumably to keep me from locking my keys in the car. I can't stand this feature, it's like a damn Honda, protecting me from myself! How to switch this back?

View 2 RepliesI sat on the remote for my 2010 Prius and the trouble started. I'm not sure how it was supposed to work, but the drivers side door wouldn't open until you played with the remote a lot. Just trying the old smart way by grasping the handle did one of two things, nothing, or it locked the damn door instead of unlocking it. When I used the keyfob, the door unlocked until I grasped the handle, It LOCKED! When I tried to lock the car and walk away, it would lock, then immediately unlock.
View 14 RepliesMy 2000 honha civic door will not open. the remote will unlock all doors except driver door which makes a noise like its trying to open but will only barely move the nub. When you touch the handle the lock goes back down. I've tried to open with key and tried from inside to open it with no luck. I partially removed inside panel to gain access, but could only pull the levers and not really do anything to the lock itself, I just can reach it. I'm considering cutting a hole from the outside to gain access to the lock, but once i do not sure what's next. what should i look for on the lock to get it to release the door latch?

Just picked up a 2005 and the hatch glass will not open. Tried everything that I have read on here and on ClubTouareg. It has to be the fuse or something. Pressing the button on the remote does nothing and neither does the switch on the driver's side door.
View 6 RepliesMy 5 month old 2015 Prius develops a problem. Once in a while when driving at night, the door open indicator and dome lights will come on for a moment and off right away. I assume it is cause by a loose connection or faulty sensor. Before I take the car to the dealer, is there something I can check?
