I have had JoeZ/PTS catback exhaust on my rc f for a few months. I recently put PPE headers on and when I rapidly accelerate in park/neutral I get a whistling sound especially when backing of the accelerator. What it is?
View 1 RepliesHave a Whistling or hissing sound while accelerating? My 2015 6.2 seems to make this sound while under load. I took to dealer and they claim its the throttle plates not closing all the way. Claims this is normal, but to me it is annoying. Just would like to know what others think.
View 9 RepliesI recently changed my intake to Takeda and I am hearing squeaking noise every time I hit on the accelerator, but only when my windows are down. So I don't know if this is from the intake or something else is wrong.
View 5 RepliesFaint humming/whistling noise coming from the drivings side of the motor. I can hear it when I put my head next to the drivers wheel well, and most certainly from that side of the motor when the hood is popped. It's not super loud, but it is noticeable. I know we have Direct injection motors, so I know that ticking is completely normal. Am I overlooking this and being paranoid? Car has 2100 miles on it. I don't know if it was there when brand new.

View 5 RepliesMy APR dealer is double checking on this. Got an APR Stage 1 tune today and am now periodically noticing a whistling/slight rattle when I punch the accelerator. Only appears to happen when I build revs quickly. Never heard anything like this before the Tune.
View 24 RepliesI have a 2001 Honda Odessey with 114K miles. When I step on the accelerator I hear a whistling sound. The sound sounds louder as the RPMs go up. However I don't hear the sound when I take my foot off the gas or when the RPMs are 1,000 or less. What the sound is and what I should do? I had my transmission replaced last year and my wife thinks its related to the transmission.
View 2 RepliesI have noticed that at highway speeds, 55 + MPH, there is a whistling sound coming from outside the car, I can hear it more on the driver's side of the car. I checked all the rubber parts on the two doors and everything seemed to be in place. Is this normal? I probably only noticed it because I had the volume on the radio really low, but the whistling sound sounds like it's right in my ear. I got my roof wrapped so I thought maybe part of the vinyl came up and was causing that but the wrap is sound in place.
View 9 RepliesWeird thing yesterday, noticed a rotational tick sound coming from the right rear wheel during slow backing up with the windows down. Sounded like debris stuck between the dust shield and the rotor. Had that tinny sound. Anyway, no dealer around in the town I was at. Closest is over two hours away and not in the direction of home which was four hours away.
I was visiting friends, and decided to jack the truck up and pull the wheel off and clear whatever debris was stuck in there. Pulled the wheel and didn't see anything. Rotated the hub and could still hear the noise. I pulled the caliper next and made sure nothing was in there. There wasn't. Ok, must be in behind the disc in the parking brake shoe area and making contact with the dust shield. I pulled the caliper mount and then the rotor. Still didn't see any debris or anything foreign. What I did see was a bunch of metal filings on the inner side of the brake shoes all around the backing plate. Also a fair amount of metal filings in the drum portion of the rotor.
Rotated the hub again, and noticed the noise coming from the retaining pin cap on the rear most shoe. It was rubbing against the backside of the hub. As the hub rotated the cap spun and made noise as the spring gave way and turned. This made sense for the noise and the metal filings. The cap was still in place and the pin was not being touched yet by the back of the hub. I reassembled it all and decided the further drive home was not going cause more harm than what was already done.
Dropped off at my local dealer this morning and explained the above. The technician confirmed it as well, and ordered the a new retaining pin. Some how it got out of tolerance and caused itself to be longer than it should have. The tolerance appeared close from the front side shoe that was not rubbing.
When I'm on the highway around 60 mph I get a whistling whining vibration sound. if I accelerate or ease off the accelerator it stops, but when I get back to around that speed it comes back. What this could be?
View 9 RepliesI finally got a recording of this, after trying to describe it without much success. Dealer drove the car 2x and claimed they don't hear it.

As you can hear (if you turn speakers up, recording isn't very sensitive), it's kind of a high pitched whistling sound or whining sound. Happens when coasting (foot off gas) at 60mph. In gear or neutral, same noise. Only around that speed, only when foot off the gas.
What do you think this is? Some have suggested wheel bearing but if you listen this is more of a steady high pitched noise, not a helicopter like sound.
My car developed an "intermittent" accelerator whistling noise coming thru one of the speakers (I think). The harder you accelerate - the louder the whistle. When idling, it sounds like an open air whirring noise. Of course every time I bring it to the shop - it stops and when I hear it it's never convenient to get to the shop!
View 4 RepliesI read in another post that when that person put their car in reverse, the back up camera came on, and the outside mirrors pointed down to assist with backing. My outside mirrors dont do this and I havent found anything in the settings to enable this. Is this only available with certain trim levels? Do mirrors move when you put your car in reverse?

This all started with the cold weather. At first I thought my 2 yr old was turning switches on while he was up front one time, but it happended again the following morning taking my 5yr old to school...
I back up up about 20 feet and then make a fairly sharp 90 degree turn and then all the way down the driveway to the street...its really noticeably on the 90 degree turn..once I turn to go forward it still seems jerky...same as having 4wd engaged on dry surface while turning..
After a little bit of driving it seems to go away...also keep in my mind that the 4wd switch has never been touched at anytime at all...we have a lightly snow packed driveway but my traction is still fine to where 2 wd is all that's needed
Could it be something in the rear diff "catching and releasing" for lack of a better term ?
Locker issues, clutchpacks...?
As I am typing I also remembered making a right hand turn on dry pavement and it felt like the rear end slipped a bit and then caught again, much the same way it would fell as if you hat one tire on a small patch of ice and slipped as ya took off and then caught as it hit the dry pavement...
Noticed that when drive Sonata cold without having it warmed up and you hit the accelerator even a little bit that it 'jerks' back a bit? Once the car is warmed up you don't feel it anymore.

View 3 RepliesI pushed the accelerator all the way to the floor at 30 MPH and the engine lost almost all power? As soon as I let up to about 9/10 throttle everything reverted to normal. Took it to the dealer and it showed no codes. The Tech and I took it for a road test and it did it only one more time. He said to keep an eye on it but was baffled. I tested it later in the sport drive mode and it would bog down every time if pushed hard to floor at about 30mph.
My best guess is that I got some bad regular low octane gasoline and the ECM is sensing a knock and retarding the timing or cutting off fuel flow similar to over revving condition. I will fill it up with 93 Octane Premium next time I get fuel and se what happens. Usually runs fine on 87 Octane but most of the time I don't floorboard the accelerator pedal. As I said at 9/10 throttle it runs fine.
Having a fan like sound apparently coming from the gas tank, but different than what everybody is saying is the fuel pump- its not a whirring sound under the drivers seat and not while the engine is running. I have heard this a couple of times after the engine has been off a few hours of sitting in my garage, and then after a few minutes it goes away. The last time, I opened the fuel filler cap and the fan sound stopped immediately.
