So over the past week of driving my new 2011 RX350 I have had the auto wipers set to on so when/if it rains they automatically come on. However at random times when there is no rain the wipers come alive an make a sweep across the windshield.

View 7 RepliesMy dealer says the windshield on my 2012 RX 350, which has < 8k miles, has to be replaced in order to fix the auto rain sensing function. Even though it is covered under warranty I'm confused and not happy with this. What is in the windshield that causes the problem? Could it just be the control sensor behind the rear view mirror, which they detached in their troubleshooting?
View 9 RepliesThe wipers on my Camry windshield are making a scraping sound as they sweep. I replaced the factory motor & transmission four years ago with one from a wreck. Working fine til now. How can I deduce it's the motor and not the trans - or the other way around. I did remove the complete unit and oiled it up. The problem remains. The motor hums nicely. The transmission arms do not rotate easily by hand.
View 4 RepliesI dropped off my 2015 RX450h at the dealership yesterday because the rain sensing wipers no longer sensed rain. Late in the afternoon the service writer called and told me that they ordered a new windshield because the sensor is part of the windshield?
Sounds strange. I've heard that some aftermarket windshields were interfering with sensor's ability to sense but never an OEM windshield.
I've had my F350 SD for 6months now(21,000 mi) and have seen probably 20 times when I insert the key and turn the switch on the windshield wiper's will make one swipe when NOT turned on. Also have seen several times when starting the truck the radio comes on and it was not on when I turned the truck off. Yesterday when I finished work and was heading home I started the truck and the wipers came up about 1/3 of the way and stopped. I can't seem to duplicate the problem so I have not scheduled it in as of yet.
View 14 Replies2015 RX350 with Nav. Is there a way to disable the "auto" function of the intermittent wipers to gain manual control when in intermittent mode?. With the rain sensor and speed sensor, often even with the intermittent control at the fastest setting, the wipers don't swipe often enough. Especially when driving at slower speed or waiting at an intersection, the intermittent swipe takes so long that I must manually turn on the wiper to low speed. This makes no sense to me. Just because I'm driving slow or at an intersection, Lexus thinks I don't need clear vision?
This is the first vehicle with rain and speed sensing wipers and it will be my last. This is not only annoying it's a safety hazard.
Is there a user configurable setting to change this? Or is it something the dealer can disable?
X2 nights ago at 11:45pm I was driving home from a friends house with my gf and were going about 65 on the highway and it's lightly raining, then all of a sudden my headlights, windsheld wipers, turnsignals, my ac/fans all just shut off so I had to pull over right away. After sitting there for about 15 mintues I figure out my high beams still work but only if I hold them on(clicking it on doesn't work. So I drive home and the next day check all the fuses in the drivers door and they r all fine. Everything else works in the car but the stuff stated above. My car was reposesd about a year ago when I lost my job and they put this thing I have to enter a code every month, it messed my windsheld wipers and turn signals up before but not anything else! But it still works and the other stuff doesn't, and behind the dash it sounded like crackling and smelt like burning electric right before it shut off.

View 1 RepliesEver since I have mounted my EZ-Pass transponder my rain-sensing wipers do not work properly. The transponder is attached to the windshield with two double-sticky pieces of velcro behind the rearview mirror. Basically the wipers now only work on the lowest setting. On medium and high they constantly run even with clean dry windshield.
Is there a known good way to mount the transponder so it doesn't affect the rain sensor?
I just got myself a UL 2007 Lexus ES 350 last month.
So here are my constraints:
1. My Emergency Flashers are not working, however the pointers work. (I have checked the fuses and they are fine)
2. My voice recognition seems not to like my accent, when I say "setup" it plays satellite radio (is there a way to play around with the setting for voice recognition ?)
3. When I am on rough roads, I get a lot of feedback on the steering wheel, what should I be worried about here?
4. My Wipers are supposed to be rain sensitive but they don't seem to work. Is there a setting I am missing?
5. My Steering Wheel doesn't go up and down, it only goes front and back. Rather than go up and down, it jerks slightly to the left or right, depending on where. What could be wrong?
I did not find a solution to my 2011 Elantra GLS's windshield fogging up when it is raining. Other vehicles I owned would clear the foggy windscreen by simply turning the fan on the windshield setting. No A/C necessary.
However, when the Elantra fogs up while driving in the rain, it requires that I put the A/C on (not in recirc mode) to clear the glass. After it clears, I shut-off the A/C to conserve fuel, but after 30 secs or so, it begins to fog up again.
There is no apparent water in the car, or wet floormats, so I'm wondering what could cause this?
Got my IS 350 F Sport on 6/30 and I love it... but I found my first fault in the car... and I hope it can be fixed or I am wrong... The wipers just aren't that fast.... and their are very few speeds...
The FAST wipers setting (all the way down, clicking twice) doesn't hold up well against heavy ran...this setting is like Medium-High on my old 2013 Infiniti... But the Infiniti almost had a "VERY HIGH" setting and it was great for down pours... this "high" on the lexus just isn't that good... and quiet frankly IS NOT SAFE.
Also, pushing it down once for the intermediate setting where you can twist for 3 different speeds just isn't enough as well...

This is on a 2006 GS3. I don't know if this is how it's always been, but after I picked up the car from service at the lex dealer yesterday i especially noticed that the windshield wipers don't go all the way down when they are off or at the "bottom" of the wipe motion. especially the one on the passenger side - when the wipers are idle it's sitting maybe 3" above its base if you understand what i am trying to say. Is this normal? or is it just now i am noticing this. it's not really in the way to impede my vision but i just find it odd.

View 18 RepliesI have a 2010 JSW TDI and when I shut off the engine, sometimes the front windshield wipers "jump" up about half an inch. This also causes a "clunk" sound when they hit against the windshield. It has not been raining where I live so I didn't accidentally leave it in intermittent or anything. Is this normal? I'm beginning to get worried that there may be an electrical problem with my Jetta.

So I've had my 2015 IS250 for only 7-8 months, and it happened to rain in CA. My windshield wipers were put to use, but the wipers make loud noises. The rubber does not seem to wipe the glass smoothly or quietly as it skips or drags when the wipers go up. Will the dealership fix this at no cost?
View 3 RepliesOkay, to start i've disconnected my rain sensor so i do not have auto wipers, instead the wipers are intermittent when in the first, AUTO, position. with that being said....
When I was driving and had the LOW wiper position selected (not AUTO) and the wiper speed dial set to (-) , when the car comes to a stop or is parked, the LOW wipers switch to intermittent where they will pause in the (-) dial setting, for about 2.5 seconds. if the dial is set to (+) you do not notice this happening as the wipers re-engage too quickly. and then once you start moving again, the wipers return to the LOW setting and run continuously.
Does it also happen when your rain sensor still works? My guess is it's a luxury function so when you are nto moving, less rain hits the water, and you don't have to deal with wipers on a drier windshield making the low squeegee noise.
My 330 had a new windshield installed prior to purchase and shortly after, the rain sensor module came loose. Cleaned things up and epoxied bracket in place, and about a year later it came loose again. Seems temperature related - a hot sunny day and the epoxy loses adhesion. I'm ready to try again but at odds as to what adhesive to use. Any long term successes out there?
