I have a 2015 Lexus rx 350 it is not all wheel drive. When I put the transmission in drive or reverse I have what I would call a double engagement. It feels like it is going into gear twice. It does not slip it shifts smooth.

When I shifted the gear from Park to Reverse straight down instead of moving to the right first, the vehicle would jerk and make a thud sound. Not sure if this would have damaged anything. After I have get used to moving the gear to the right first before shifting down, I would still sometimes have this jerk/thud. But if I do the whole shift movement (shift the right first) real quick then the chance of getting the jerk/thud is much less. Is it a manufacture defect or just I am not doing it properly?
View 5 RepliesI always thought the clicking sound I was hearing in the morning was coming from the engine. Then I realized the sound doesn't start until the car is in gear, either reverse or drive. After a few minutes it will go away but until it does, it is a noticeable sound. I still have a warranty. I am wondering what this could be.

View 4 RepliesI have a 2008 Elantra GLS. I am getting a code of P0750. Seloniod A fault. I have checked wiring harness for critter bites all looks good. If I clear the code the transmission shifts normal until it is shut off like overnight. I also have been noticing that it idles around 1100RPM to 1300RPM and it does drop into gear harder (reverse or drive). This high idle started before the P0750 code.

I am wondering why does my car default to 4th gear even at a stop when put into Selectable Gear Mode; I would think it should be in '1'. Is this a faulty vehicle requiring some fix?
In other brand vehicles I have driven, shifting into S-mode at standstill puts it in '1'. At highway speeds, it would be '6' and at intermediate speeds it will be some number in between. I can then upshift and downshift from that number as I would change gears in a manual drive car.
Is that kind of "manual simulated" driving feasible or advisable in the RX350 with the default 4th gear behavior? I have not dared to try starting from the '4th gear' for fear of ruining anything.

Every once in a while I feel the tranny down shift while slowing down... It's not harsh or anything, but just enough to have a slight feel. Like a backlash? Is this normal? I also have 09 GS350 AWD.. It's so smooth that I can't feel the downshift at all...

View 14 RepliesI have an Elantra 2012 sedan GL and last year i tried installing HID's. It worked for a whole but then it stopped after. I learned that it wasn't getting enough power so then yesterday I bought a wiring kit to be able to wire my HID to tap to the battery to get more power. Everything was fine till I got to work but when I had to leave work., there was an issue. Whenever i switch the gear from park to drive or reverse or neutral. My car seems to jerk. And when I'm driving and it changes gears, it also jerks. Kind of the same thing how if your driving a manual car and you change gears wrong. This happens when my lights are off. But when i turn them on it then stops. And when i turn it back of it doesn't do it anymore.

Whenever I startup the car (engine hot or cold) and put it in drive or reverse,and lightly step on the gas to get the car moving, there is a weird stutter. Sort of like when your driving stick in the same scenario, but you let out the clutch a bit to fast and the engine wants to bog out, but your able to hit the gas just a bit more to keep it from stalling. If this were a manual transmission, I would disregard as we all know that can be a normal characteristic of manual transmission.
This being an automatic, I am worried that something could be off with the tranny or the engine.
At the airport made a wrong entrance and notice it so fast, therefore, did a quick reverse and shifted back to drive, but the car died on me. It took me a little while to see what is happening and start the engine again, but the cars behind me were not real cooperative.

I'm not due for service or an oil change for another 5,000 miles so I'm hoping it's not something I need to address immediately. Do you think it would be safe to wait until then?
I recently leased a 2013 RX 350 and started hearing a weird loud noise almost in the first week itself. It seems to happen whenever I shift the gears from Reverse to Drive. The loud noise comes from the back of the car and anyone sitting in the car (speakers turned off) can hear/feel it. It seems to be worse in the morning (or when the engine is cold).
I took it to the lexus service center and the person told me something about differential pressure, which I really didn't understand:-). However, he said nothing can be done and its not a safety issue and sent me back home without any fix. I have driven many cars in my life so far and never ever came across something like this. Is it something normal at all?
We recently had an issue with our 2011 GX460. My wife first experienced the transmission not wanting to engage after being put in drive. Once it did engage there was a loud bang/pop noise, then no issues afterwards. The same thing happened to me this weekend. It was weird, like the brakes had frozen up then suddenly released and the transmission slammed into gear. We bought the vehicle used a couple months ago with 39k miles. With factory warranty remaining it will be heading to the dealer shortly.
View 14 RepliesRX 350 (mine is 2013) produce a slight bump in revs as you decelerate moderately going from 2nd gear to 1st? It goes away after the tranny is warmed up. Wondering if it's just a result of the cold weather.
View 5 RepliesMy 2007 RX350 has 14500 mlles. After almost coming to a stop (5mph) and at times that I need to accelerate quickly while traveling at approx 30mph the transmission wants to hunt for the proper gear. ILO downshifting to the next lowest gear it does nothing but hunts for a second (seems like a minute with traffic approaching) then grabs a gear. Engine RPM revs naturally but too high. Dealer states this is normal for the hunting action. The vehicle is perfect other than this one small problem.
View 14 RepliesI find it a little concerning that I can actually drive off in our RX350 without the key fob in it. I know there is a warning on the dash, but that doesn't stop someone from stealing it. May be a park lock out would be a better solution.
View 14 RepliesLooking for a new luxury SUV - had a 2001 RX-300 and put 230,000 miles on it and gave it to my daughter. The local Lexus dealer seems to have only AWD models and is not real useful in getting a FWD stripper (don't want nav, etc.) The local Acura dealer has several base MDX's in FWD and seems more useful. Drove both AWD versions and thought the Acura was much better handler and better road feel. Am leaning towards Acura but don't know about service costs and long term reliability - we will keep either car for 12 years probably. What say you? Doesn't seem to be a decent Acura MDX forum out there.

She recently had a tune-up on her car a month ago and everything seemed to be working fine. I think the transmission is dead. Does that sound right?
View 8 Replies91 F-150 4x4 with AOD. OD,D,1st gear. The truck will idle fine, but when I put it into gear it seems like it is locked in in either drive or reverse. Its hard to stop at lights or stop signs and boggs the engine down and has no low end power. When in neutral it is fine. I have replaced the torque converter with a new one, no change. I replaced the valve body with a constant pressure body as well and still no change. Is there anything else that could keep the thing locked up? The smaller inside overdrive shaft looked good and slid in and out easily. Is there any kind of solenoid in the AOD that would cause this or if vacuum has any role in this problem...
