I've had this issue for quite a while. on and off for the beginning of me owning the car and now pretty much all the time. The driver side mirror will not tilt down or up. Only side to side. The passenger side works fine and even tilts down when i reverse.
View 7 RepliesExcellent feature since I park in the city along curbs all the time. I know you have to have the button lit in L or R for the feature to work. Initially, I only had to push L or R once and it would stay lit all the time, but just recently, I have to push L or R every single time I drive my car to use the feature. Just a minor inconvenience, but what did I do and how can I fix this so I don't have to push L or R every single time I drive my car to use this feature?
View 3 RepliesI notice that whenever I put the GX in reverse, the driver side view mirror doesn't come down all the way like the passenger side view mirror.
The driver side view mirror only tilt down half way and its bothering me. I try to play with it but its still behaving the same way. I read somewhere on a different thread where the dealer had to replace the motor...Hope that is not the case with me.

When I'm in reverse and trying to back out of a narrow space, I need to see what's behind me.. not what's on the ground underneath my side mirrors. How do I turn OFF this highly annoying function? I've searched all through the manual and can't seem to locate it..
View 5 RepliesAt first the drivers side, side mirror would tilt as it should when backing up but when i got onto the street from my driveway wouldn't stop tilting up-words till it made a clicking noise that it wanted to keep tilting but couldn't. The only way to stop it was to adjust the side mirror manually and tilt it down and it would stop and stay at whatever i set it as. Now it just doesn't tilt at all.
What part numbers would i need to fix the problem? I drive a 2002 SC 430.
I just picked up my new 2010 Golf TDI and one thing I really miss is the passenger side mirror tilting down when I am in reverse. It is really handy for parallel parking. My Passat and BMW both have this feature and I would love to be able to do it here.

View 24 RepliesI have a 2001 B5.5 1.8T 5spd, no packages passat. My dad recently got a 2000 V6 B5 auto, loaded. His passenger side mirror will tilt itself downwards when the car is in reverse. Is there a way that my car can do this? It sounds damn handy living in the city.
View 3 RepliesFirstly, when i put my car in reverse, my passenger side view mirror does not automatically tilt. is there some sort of setting i must go to?
Secondly, I was wondering if it was possible to AUTOMATICALLY fold the side view mirror when i off the engine, or lock the doors, and for them to automatically unfold when i start the engine or unlock the doors! Instead of manually turning the knob.
I went into the Menu, and there was an option under "locks .... ---> mirrors", and i selected sync. Does that have anything to do with my question?
Thirdly, The rain sensing wipers. I have to activate this by pulling the lever up ONE STEP to the intermittent mode right. I tested the rain sensing wipers with a bottle of water! and the sensor is at the rear view mirror. The question is that when i off the engine and leave the rain wipers under Mode ONE (one step up the lever from off) the car doesn't automatically activate the wipers if it rains. I have to push it down to off! then back to INTERMITTENT MODE! Is this normal?
I have a base model V6 Touareg. The passenger side view mirror doesn't tilt down in reverse (even with the mirror switch in the R position). Is there a VAG-COM setting to enable this feature?
View 1 RepliesAny way to adjust how much the outside mirrors tilt down when the car is shifted into reverse? I have looked in the Owners Manual and I can't find anything that addresses this. I feel like there must be some adjustment since sometimes the mirrors tilt a lot and sometimes they tilt just a little.
I have tried shifting the car into reverse and letting the mirrors tilt and then adjusting the mirrors with the adjustment controls to the preferred tilt angle, but they didn't retain the memory and went back to the previous tilt settings.
Diagnosing different minor problems with my sc430. Tthe lastest one is that my navigation screen will not tilt back so the cover will go over it. It seems like its tilted forward all the way. The screen still works and all. But the tilt button does nothing and its too far out for me to get the wood grain cover to go over it. Is this a common issue? and whats the remedy?

View 1 RepliesWell I took the GX into a rough part of town in and literally left the car parked for 30 minutes, and I come back to find the drivers side mirror missing. Good news is, the thieves unplugged it, dare I say professionally and I have no ripped or spliced wires, everything is in tact. I found a mint condition mirror on ebay and bought it for a fraction of the cost the stealership would charge, however as simple as it looks, it is a bit difficult to snap the mirror onto the white plastic piece. I do not want to apply too much pressure and crack the mirror from the front. Any hacks on an easier way to put it in?

View 7 RepliesIt seems that someone hit my drivers side mirror on my 2004 gx and cracked the shell. The mirror works fine its just the outer plastic part is cracked. My question is i see on ebay some for sale but im not sure if they are glued together or clipped in. How to take off the cover and if so is it easy or not.
View 3 RepliesI just bought an RX 330 recently and the mirror on the driver side is not working. Not even when I tried to do some minor adjustment to the mirror before I drive the car. I do not hear any motor running or any sound when I push on the mirror adjustment button (and yes, I did put the switch to the left). So does this mean the motor that controlling the mirror is out...or dead? Do I need to replace the motor or the whole mirror--the motor and frames as well? If I do need to replace this, does it considered as a "mechanical break down" since it's the motor that is failing?

View 2 RepliesWhen I have the mirror tilt feature active for both mirrors(left switch position) the driver side mirror does not return to the preset position. The passenger side works fine but I have to manually reposition the driver side so I know it is not in the mechanism, it seems it is not sensing the transmission in drive but only on the driver side. How hard is it to replace the faulty sensor or whatever the failed part?
View 4 RepliesI guess the roof needs adjustment since my driver side door won't close if the window is up all the way.
Checked the roof and found there is a larger gap on the passenger side than on the driver side. That causes the unevenness of the roof, I think.
There is a noticeable amount of wind noise on the driver's side (obviously with the top and all windows up). Haven't ridden in the passenger seat so not sure if it's there too.
The top closes perfectly, so I'm assuming it's the driver's side mirror.
