My '93 Metro 3 cyl (The Phoenix) is becoming a bit 'Long in the Tooth'...
Now, this summer, it has started creaking and popping when I go over wavy roads or take sharp curves at speed.
If I accelerate/decelerate the frame pops over on the passenger side and I hear pops in the trunk area.
I wonder how much longer it will be safe to drive.
Have creaking windows when driving around, especially when pulling to drive ways or going over speed bumps? Curious if there is a fix for this or if maybe my car needs to be looked at? The windows function properly and I don't have any issues with them except they just make a lot of creaking noises while driving.
View 11 RepliesI bought a 2010 prius 3 weeks ago and a squeaking sound came out after driving it for a week. The sound is like a wooden bed not screwed tight being shaken. My prius has 40000 miles on it and the warranty has expired already. I brought it to a toyota dealership and they could not find where the noise is coming from. I decided to bring it back to the dealership I bought it from and they also could not determine where its coming from. They said they need more time to find it. The squeaks often comes out in wavy roads and bumps and in both low and high speeds.
View 11 RepliesMy 96 Metro for some reason is popping the 15 amp ignition fuse randomly. First time it happened I disconnected the alternator and replaced the fuse and it got me home. Pulled the alternator and had it tested and it tested fine. Put it back in and everything worked for about a month. It popped the fuse again while driving down the road. I disconnected the alternator again but this time the fuse still blew. I disconnected the coil replaced the fuse turned on the key and the fuse did not pop. I reconnected everything and it worked fine. Hasn't repeated itself in a week. I think there is a short somewhere. Just can't find it.
View 1 RepliesI've got an '05 Tacoma 4WD with 145,000 miles. Very recently, when taking right curves at moderate speed ( e.g. freeway cloverleaf onramps), I'll lose power at the apex of the curve. It comes back immediately when the I straighten out. No warning lights on panel. It feels like no gas since there's no difference when I press the accelerator pedal.

Car just doesn't feel as "solid" as it should. I expected it to feel really buttoned down with a quiet cabin.
I hear annoying creaking type noises when going over bumps / rougher roads (even did this with stock springs) Sounds like coming from rear interior, like window seal areas.
Not sure if this is due to body flex or something else. Anything to address this? Would any kind of stabilizer bars (front strut / rear hatch / under body chassis) work? or make it worse?
It started happening after our week vacation at the beach. Not sure if the salty air caused this or what. We mainly notice it at lower speeds on bumpy/gravel roads. No noise when the sunroof is open.
View 3 RepliesA few months ago I had the passenger side Control Arm replaced. Over a year ago I had them both replaced with after market parts. I went into the dealer and was told the reason the parts failed so soon was because the parts were aftermarket parts and that I should have them replaced with original Toyota part. When the passenger side failed again, I had the dealer replace it with an original Toyota part.
Here's the problem: after they replaced the one side with an Toyota part I took my car and immediately when making a sharp turn to the right the vehicle making a jerking motion. It was unnerving the first time. It felt as if the vehicle might turn over. I noticed that this only happen or mostly happen when making a turn to the right.
Also, as I'm accelerating the vehicle will pull to the right the abruptly jerk to the left. What I was told by the dealer is that scene replaced the one side with a Original Part and the other side was an aftermarket part, the two not being of the same quality were what I felt he was saying that the parts were slightly different in size and would cause this problem.
Lariat stepside, 5.4L with 150k miles. Loud popping noise, almost a clunk, when making a slow sharp turn. Put it on jackstands and did the normal tire grab and shake and found no issues there. Tie rods, ball joints and sway bar links all seem tight. Looked for signs of unusual rubber to metal and metal to metal wear and found nothing. The only thing I did see was the rubber boots on the upper control arm ball joints were split. What I have checked or if I am missing something?

Recently had both rear shocks replaced and am getting a SHARP metal contact in the left rear when the suspension begins to load. Mechanic spent afternoon looking in shock mount, trunk, spare, jack, spare and antenna mast-can't find it. New tires. New rear brakes-told me that was it. Still there.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2003 2wd F250 with the 7.3l. I replaced the stock tail gate with an aftermarket 5th wheel tailgate. Seems to work good but a couple of times the bottom of the tail gate where the hinge connects pops out when on dirt roads. I know it is probably from the shaking and rattling that the road causes but any way to prevent that from happening? I know most will say stay off the dirt roads but until they pave the road to the dunes camping spot I'm stuck with going down it.
View 3 RepliesThe switch is broken internally and the wipers are set on the highest speed. For now I just pulled the wiper fuse so I can still drive to work and whatnot without burning up the wiper motor. Were I can find a cheap replacement switch? 97 LSi SDN ....
View 3 RepliesJust replaced the front struts last week and the upper control arms this morning. After putting everything back together I drove her around the block and noticed a horrible popping and squeaking like something was loose. I quickly limped her home and double checked that everything went back on properly and was tight. Car is the V6 with eibach's and about 103,000 miles I have drain and filled the tranny every 30-40k.
What this sound might be? It goes away once I am above about 10-15 mph and sounds like it is coming from the center underside of the car. I will also try to get a video of the sound while I am driving.

I have a god awful creaking and popping sound from within my dash. It is directly related to my steering wheel. I can recreate it by pushing down on the wheel but I cannot track it down. I have the dash apart now.

I have recently notice a single "pop" noise that seems to be coming from the rear when I turn right with a sharp turn.
I have looked in the trunk and under the vehicle but I cannot find where it is coming from.
When I make low speed sharp turns, (like trying to make a U or K turn) the Treg kind of "lurches". Is this common? Is there a fix?
My Treg is a V8 PPS and is one of the first here in the US (took delivery 7/7/03).
I just recently traded in my '07 SWB for an '11 LWB (75k miles) and am loving the engine (sans hesitation) and ride etc. etc.
The only thing that's been really bugging me is that during cornering, the body seems to twist and "wind up", and as it does this, something(s) under the body moves and creaks/pops noisily. Then as I straighten the car out or turn the opposite direction, whatever had moved settles back out and I get more creaking/popping.
I thought it might be back door seals or door latch (based on that being a typical german car issue/solution) so I treated the seals and lubricated the latches, but the sounds didn't change at all. I would say, as a guess (tracking down noises can be super deceiving), the sounds seem to be coming from below the floor pan. I also wouldn't say the issue changes with outdoor temperature.
I have a 2002 Passat Auto 1.8T, and everytime I slow down I have this loud creaking, or popping noise. It usually happens when the car is slowing down, or when I'm first starting off from a red light, stop sign, etc. It's annoying as hell! I searched the forums, and no one had this exact problem.
View 4 RepliesCutting to the chase i m planning to buy new sonata with panoramic roof but I've read at many places that any car with panoramic roof rattles alot ... i really love panoramic roof but after seeing so many issues with panoramic roof i am very disappointed .... is that really true. .. and I cannot withstand rattles while driving at all nowadays i have chevy trail blazer and i only hate it because it rattles ALOT...i don't want to hear any more rattle specially in a brand new vehicle.
View 33 RepliesI have some noise coming from the front suspension. It is a popping/sorta creaking noise. I hear it mostly when turning, but sometimes while going straight. It is not a grinding sound, nor is it a high pitched sound. I took it to my mechanic, but they drove it and could not replicate the noise. They inspected the front end, and said everything looked fine. But I still hear the noise. The car has a little over 40k miles on it. No problems with the tires...no irregular wear, and no wandering. I looked at the front end, and didn't find anything obvious. I cannot replicate the noise just by pushing on the fenders up and down.
