i have a 99 passat and one of my windows doesn't go down ( drivers side in the back). i can hear it making a sound like it wantes to go down but the window doesn't budge. could it be the regulator??
View 2 RepliesMy 99 passat has a problem. the power windows wont go down the power locks don't work same with both mirrors. I replaced the ccm under the drivers seat, I replaced the master switch i checked all the fuses I'm completely stuck.

View 6 RepliesSo currently i wrecked my jetta. so....i decided why fix it when i can upgrade so ive decided to purchase a new-er car so Ive come across a 1999 passat with about 135xxx v6 auto/tiptronic and its selling under 2 grand. only issue is that none of the windows open or close. i am willing to fix this i just have a few questions.
How reliable is this make an model?
How much in the hole can i see myself with the above mentioned window issue?(not sure exactly what the problem is)
Any specific questions i should ask when i go to see the car?
Hit a bump in the road, car hiccuped then EPC and MIL illuminated. Scanned it with Carista and showed low fuel pressure. Looked under engine cover... Lo and behold! Connector is plugged in but male portion on regulator is snapped off!!! Needs whole fuel pump assembly at 25,000 miles!

View 6 Replies I have a 99 B5 stock with 114,000 on it. On Saturday my wife and I went out for a ride, she had to get something form the trunk so I unlock the doors and she gets out when she gets back in the car I notice the trunk lid light is on and i tell her to close it she said she did so I get out and close it. I noticed when i went to close it the latch wouldn't engage. I turn the car off and try to use my key to lock the trunk, I noticed the alarm doesn't engage when I try to lock it. I then try to start up the car and it wont start.
I pop the hood everything looks good I try it again no luck after about twenty minutes of testing, I decide to disconnect the battery. The car starts right up but while im driving i notice the trunk lid light comes back on and my doors keep trying to lock, then my windows go down for no reason...What is going on, I have heard that some passats have a real bad electrical problem with time but what causes it and is this something Im going to have to bring to the stealership to get fixed.
It looks like I am going to have to replace my front driver's side power window regulator soon - it is making a bad sound when I power the window down and also the window glass seems to be loose and clunking when I close the door with the window partially or all the way down. These may be two separate issues. I think the motor itself is fine.
In looking at replacement window regulators I see two options. The lower cost option ($50-70) is to just by the regulator cable/pulley/gear assembly.

But I also see options to buy that assembly pre-installed on the metal door plate that it attaches to: [URL]
So, my question is, once I have the door apart and the glass out, is it relatively easy to install a new cable/pulley/gear regulator assembly, or would I be better off buying a pre-installed regulator on a new metal plate?
I know how to take the door apart as I have done this before to change out the door lock/latch module.
I have replaced the driver control switch but the passenger and rear windows still doesn't work.
View 14 RepliesI have a 1999 4DR V6 Passat and today was not my day. I got to work around 8am this morning, and parked. Forgot my window was down, so I turned the ignition on to roll up the driver's side window like normal, and the window does not go up. In fact, no window will go up or down. I have full power, from what I can tell. All lights work, radio works, AC works, etc... Door locks and my alarm doesn't work either.
This also boggled my mind; the car wont start?!? The car won't even crank. It doesn't even want to try to start. This all happened at the same time. What could have happened? The battery has 12.8 volts and the car drove fine on the 1 hour commute. I disconnected the battery and reconnected hoping to reset anything that may have happened. But that didn't work.
I own a Elantra 2011 and I have a major problem. I cannot shift from PARK to DRIVE and my electric windows doesn't work either ! Everything else working fine and the car start normally !! The dealer cannot find the trouble and the car just have 19802 KM on it!!
View 3 RepliesDoes it mean it's broken? I turned on the AC a couple times today and it was working fine. Just a few mins ago when I turn on the knob to to 1, there's no wind blowing out of the vents.
Just a few info in case you need to know: Weather temperature was hot today: 103 degrees. When the AC was working, I had the knob at level 2 the most. The car temperature was normal.
I always turn off the AC before I shut off the car.

My '99 Passat 1.8T has an intermittent problem with the electric door locks. The rear passenger lock sometimes doesn't lock, but I can always get it working by unlocking it with the remote and relocking it.
The driver door lock is now really the problem. It mostly doesn't work - in fact, not at all over the last week or so. What is the most likely cause? How much trouble is it to take apart the entire door to get to it? I have had the door panel off which isn't too bad, but the rest of it looks tough.
I recently bought a 1999 VW Lupo (essentially a two door Golf) with 30000 miles on it. My mechanic suspects it sat idle for a long time. Recently the check engine light went on, warning of a faulty idle regulator. What effect would you expect to see as a result ?

My 1999 6.8 has developed a miss at low rpm lugging, so I checked on my code reader and it says the Fuel Volume Regulator Control has open circuit.
Well, I can't find anything on these forums or in my shop manual on a fuel volume regulator. Is my reader just using the wrong name?
My scanner reads P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Open. My truck shuts down without warning, runs great otherwise. I've changed 2 grey CPS units and now have the Black IH one installed. What the Fuel Volume Reg.is? Is it the IPR on the HPOP?F250SD 7.3 225,000 miles.

View 10 RepliesMy windows seem to fog up a lot and there is a hint of an antifreeze smell. It happens almost every time I switch off recycled air. Also, the AC when it first comes on has the same antifreeze like smell. I can run the AC or defrost and the windows clear up and the smell goes away but this doesn't seem normal.
