Got a call from my wife this morning. Her car won't start. She says the when she turns the key, the doors lock and the alarm goes on. She says the "EPC" light stays on in the cluster, but that's just all the lights turning on right? I remember this happening in my 97 Golf. A recharge of the battery is all I should need right?
View 12 RepliesAfter going through a car wash my Prius has started locking all doors when I start the car and unlocking driver's and passenger front doors when I turn it off. Kind of wondering how this could happen, but since I like it that way I don't really want to change it back. Is there a way to toggle this and can I change it so that rear doors and hatchback unlock also when I turn the car off?

I wanna put a navi in and do a few things...but I just don't feel ok doing them and knowing I don't have a GREAT alarm.
My Alarm seems to be having an issue recently. When I hit the remote the doors lock but the lights do not flash and the beep is gone. When I hit the remote to unlock, the lights flash. Last Night I opened all the doors hood/trunk and shut everything and the lights flashed and it beeped. Since I have no door indicator lights I was wondering if there is a sensor where it thinks the hood is open possibly? I am at 57k so I am still under warranty. I had a Blazer years back when the alarm started acting up, they had to replace the computer one time and I think the battery the second time. But I don't think it is that. I did have some work done recently to put a blower motor and Brake light switch in. I did see reference in another thread from 2 years ago about the alarm for a different model car. 2009 Sonata 3.3 ....
View 6 RepliesI've been dealing with a frustrating issue for a while now. Whenever I use my key fob the alarm sets but my front and back driver side doors won't lock. After playing around I've noticed that the driver's side door locks when actually inserting the key and turning. Also, all of the doors lock when I am sitting in the driver's seat and push the lock button on the door panel but the back driver's side door won't unlock unless I crank the vehicle and hit the unlock button. I don't think the key fob has a low battery because I've used both key fobs and it locks one side but not the other. It's all very weird to me. The situation is frustrating for two reasons:
1) Doors are not actually locking so thieves have access to whatever they can grab and run away;
2) I occasionally forget to hit the unlock button and cause my alarm to go off and annoy neighbors, coworkers, etc.
What could be causing this? I'd like a quick fix but I'm afraid I'm going to have to open up the door panels and play around all weekend.
I just bought a used 2003 camry, it has I assume a stock alarm system (stock Toyota alarm fob), the alarm is set to auto lock after about 20 seconds after the door is shut (previous owner lived in NYC). How do I turn off the auto lock? I want the system to lock when I press the lock button on the fob (live in a very rural area and often leave the keys in the car).
View 1 RepliesOK i have a 2001 2002 passat with factor alarm. I though since i have over came my problems with it, id let all those that are going through the pain of not being able to lock there car without the alarm going off a few pointers! OK what i did....
1). Firstly checked all micro switches in doors, by opening them and seeing how the internal lights reacted - eg if the light came on when door is opened, was there a delay?. IF there is a delay ur mirco switch might be on the way out and could be causing problems.
2). Don't forget there is a micro switch on the bonnet and boot lids as well.
3). I also checked the comfort control panel which is under the passengers front floor (there is issues with the drain holes around the batter blocking and letting water into the inside of the car and flooding the comfort control panel (alarm panel). I HAD KINDA this problem and had to unblock these drain holes.
4). If ALL these are ok and working the have a look near the battery and just under the heater pipes there is the alarm system speaker with back up battery! (I flooded this area when washing my car - or in the rain as the water was not draining as it was blocked! hence shorting out my battery and speaker! Causing the alarm to go off ALL the time!)

so whenever i unlock my car with the remote on the key, i can open the door. while the door is still open it will lock back, turning the alarm on as well. would that have anything to do with the key? or some other problem?
View 13 RepliesNew 2015 Mercedes E350 wagon ..... The day after I took delivery, I tried to open the new wagon's doors (it has a keyless feature) and nothing happened. I tried again and still nothing happened. I then took the smartkey out of my pocket and tried to click open the locks and nothing happened. I then took the ancillary key out of the smartkey and unlocked the car manually. This set off the alarm which would only stop when I closed the door and relocked the car.
Also, the car would not start. It was like I had broken in to the car. A few minutes later, while waiting for roadside assistance to speak with me, I tried the door handle again and discovered that the doors would now open keylessly. I have driven the car several times since the incident (which occurred yesterday) and it has not repeated the problem. What caused the problem?Is this a one time glitch or am I in danger of being stranded somewhere?
I checked all the fuses and they're all ok. My windows will not go down. The alarm won't arm, the doors won't lock with the key fob, my mirrors won't Adjust. I can't figure this one out. All the fuses checked out ok.
View 2 RepliesWell it looks like the controller in the driver door is going bad. The key will only lock or unlock the driver door, the windows will not go up/down, nor will the alarm set/unset. The remote works as normal; it locks or unlocks one or all doors and sets or unsets the alarm. The lock/unlock button on the driver door works normally. The doors lock as they should above 10mph.
I've sprayed electrical contact cleaner in the lock several times. This did not improve anything. I wasn't very positive it would; the locks are lubed once about once a year anyway.
If you lock/unlock the door enough times with the key, you can sometimes get all the doors to lock/unlock and the alarm to set but it is very unpredictable. The problem might be in the controller.
My new Passat has the keyless locking system and ATA (anti Theift Alarm) and the ATA confirm is enabled . When I lock the doors the headlights flash but the horn alarm does not sound unless I lockthe doors twice. My 2014 Passat sel with the keylass lock system horn sounded when the doors were locked the first time. Also on the 2014 if the trunk is opened with the doors locked the horn would sound when the trunk lid is closed. This is not the case with the 2016.
I have been in contact with VW customer care. The rep has been trying to resolve the problem to no avail. VW is trying to tell me that due to consumer complaints the 2016 was changed to sound horn on the second locking.
This sounds like a copout to me when the ATA confirm can be disabled in the MFI settings.
I'm at a complete loss, My drivers side back door has stopped working, Alarm, window and lock, I've checked my fuses, and it seems i only have 3 doors in the fuse box, what are the numbers to the door fuses in the box.
View 9 Replies07 Prius, non smart key. One fob failed, other one works but button covers worn off. Purchased new fob, did the chicken dance, fob will now start car... but will not open/lock doors remotely. Took battery from working fob and put in new fob, no difference. New fob light blinks like the old working one when buttons are pressed. I do not have the "fob" button under the steering column, just a tire pressure set button there. In another thread someone wrote that with the new fob in the slot, start the car, and open and close the door, and function the locks to set new fob to be able to operated the locks... no luck.
View 4 RepliesI have a problem with one of my key fobs. It does not lock/unlock the doors or open the hatch but it still starts the car. The red LED light flashes for an extended period of time too. The other Key Fob is working fine.
View 3 RepliesI can lock the doors with the key fob but it does not beep. The alarm sets, and the passenger doors all lock, but the drivers door does not. I have checked that all doors are closing properly, and the transmission is in park.
I also tried both key fobs with the same result. The alarm LED flashes about 6 times before glowing steady - is this a code of some sort?
Car with 3.5 v6 has intermittent no start and doors will lock and unlock by themselves. I am thinking it is the neutral safety switch, where it is located on a 2002 with auto.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 passat that i have had for about 2 months. recently, about 2 weeks ago, i started having problems with the remote unlock feature. it will unlock the driver side door fine, but when i press the unlock button twice, the driver side lock makes a noise but the other three doors remain locked. when i press the unlock toggle on the driver side controls with the window controls, all the doors unlock fine. i have two remotes, one is pretty new and i just got it programmed (within a month) and neither one will unlock all the doors.all the other functions of the remote work fine.
