I have an 01 Passat Wagen that has the Check Engine Light on. It runs great! I've had all oxygen sensors changed out and regular maintenance done on it. I have had it reset but then it continues to come back on. One guy told me he thought it was the catalytic converters. Is this possible? It has 115K miles on it.

Passed except I didn't drive enough miles to qualify.The SMOG tech told me to drive 150 miles and come back. I drive the 150 plus miles and within that time my check engine light comes on. I go to the shop and have it reset.
How many miles do I have to drive the car after a Check Engine Light reset in order to qualify for a Cali SMOG Check.

View 18 RepliesI have a 2002 Passat. How to reset my check engine light. I need to get it inspected and it won't pass inspection until the check engine light is not on. Last year I took it to a mechanic who could find nothing wrong with it but reset my check engine light for me and it cost $250. Is this something I can do myself? I've had the car since it was new and the check engine light has gone on and off periodically for the past 10 years.
View 10 RepliesWhen I bought my 2003 20th it was completely stock, except for a pos blow off valve had been installed, and get this, the diverter valve was left on, and just capped off. I installed a no name CAI, and the check engine light came on, i had it turned off and when i start the car, or rev the engine high at all, triggers again.
View 4 RepliesStrange problem. I've cleaned the reservoir as best I could but it continues to back up. I can find replacement parts everywhere for any amount of money. However, the reservoir is labeled 2001 to 2006. Mine is 2006 and I believe it's a GLS (don't know for sure). OK so far, however when I put my Santa Fe in and note that it has a 3.5 V6, all of them say that it is not compatible with this car! It looks like the one that is in there, but nowhere can I find a reservoir for the 3.5! Am I missing something really silly and stupid?

Check Engine light is on, I tightened gas cap, light still on. Is there just a fuse I can pull to reset the warning light? There seem to be a few fuses labeled ECU. Exactly which one should I pull ? If I don't, how soon before it will it reset on its own?

I tried it but nothing happened. I just want the light to go away...

I'm looking for the reset button location. I am also wondering should there be something missed by the scan tools, will the light activate should there be a real problem.

View 6 RepliesRear hatch on our 2009 wagon is supposed to be adjustable as far as opening height. Regardless of where I set it, it continues to creep up to fully opened. This is not what my wife would like and when I have the Thule cargo box up top I would like to limit the opening maximum for the hatch.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 Nissan Frontier pickup that I bought used in 2012. Shortly after I purchased it the the check engine light came on, would go off and back on. Last year (before inspection) I hooked it to the diagnostic auto scanner and it read the error as four oxygen sensors. The truck was running fine but in order to get it inspected I ended up changing all four sensors. The light came back on within the week (as soon as it rained) then would go off a few days later. Rain--on, then off. I managed to get it in for inspection on one of the days the light was off. So, now it is again inspection time. Light is on, still error on the scanner as oxygen sensors. Light has not gone off in a long time.
Also noting here that I have checked this error on several different scanners. The truck is running fine. Before I take it to the dealership is there anything else this could be?
2004 Audi A6 2.7 T quattro ... Check engine light comes on and three mechanics all say i need new torque converter even tho i have no symptoms as yet. Will I get symptoms eventually, or could this be an electrical issue. When they turn off the warning light, it takes a day or so to come back on. There has been no reduction of mileage, no gear slipping, no problem accelerating.

If I really step on the gas it'll come on faster. Where should I look for a vacuum leak? The mechanic says it could be electrical problems too...
View 14 RepliesI have a 99 V6 B5 sedan & the tiptronic function is no longer working but the transmission works fine. When you place the transmission in tiptronic mode the transmission continues to stay in D. Is there a possibility that there is a faulty relay or some electrical malfunction?
View 2 RepliesSo after installing my JoeZ axle back for about 5k miles I noticed there was an issue. The check engine light was going on but turning off randomly. I finally decided to take the car to the dealer for them to check out. So what the dealer said is that the JoeZ exhaust "direct bolt-on bolts" restricted flexibility and caused leaks in the front cats. He said that the stock exhaust screws had the springs on it to allow flexibility when hitting dips/potholes. With that said, He recommended switching the front two gaskets and using the stock "spring screws."
I was wondering, encountered this problem with the bolts that came with the JoeZ axle back? I bought the JoeZ off a user here and it came with bolts, which i assumed came with the exhaust when it was purchased new. Not even sure if the bolts he gave me was correct, or if i just made the mistake of not using stock bolts.
The engine continues to rev after I take my foot off the accelerator. Does it under many different conditions, but especially the engine needs to be warmed up for it to do this. Toyota just called to say there is nothing wrong with it, even though I had a technician drive it and tell me "this is messed up!" Apparently the master technician that worked on it today didn't have a clue. Under warranty and will fight it! What is wrong with the car?
