Passat (B5) :: Cruise Control Has Not Been Working

My Cruise control hasn't been working for a while now when i first bought the car it would work when it wanted to... sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn't or even sometimes it would work then all of a sudden while its in cruise it would just stop working
Now I want to fix this problem and get it to work again what should i start to look for, what could be some common stuff that I should look for I heard the cruise control is a PITA to fix once they stop working. I don't know much about the cruise control so where i should start and what I should look for first...

About a year ago the cruise control in my 1998 Passat started to work intermittently. Now it is not working at all. I have tried to tap the stalk thinking that something could be loose. I have a 5 speed manual.

I just purchased my 98 1.8t manual and for the most part it was a steal. Only 108k miles. Everything is strong just a few minor things. Right now I want to get my cruise control working. Is there a light in the dash that goes on? What are the fuses related to it? Nothing happens when I turn it on or hold the button to set it. what should I look for?

I have a 99 1.8t my cruise control is not working. when i try to turn it on there's no light saying cruise on my dash. i let go of the gas to see if the cruise is working but nothing happens. what could be the reason? could it be one of the fuses?

Is it plug and play. My cruise control hasn't work. Numbers look right on vag and switches/fuses are all good. So I am left to assume its the stalk.

Having issue where the set- on there cruise control doesn't work? I can set the initial speed, and increase it with res+ but I can't decrease the speed. This is difficult because I cannot unlock my ecu and change programs. I have a mk6 2012 gti.

The cruise control on my 2002 Chevy 1/2 ton Silverado doesn't work. Went to boneyard and bought a module but it didn't fix my issue. Borrowed a multimeter and tested the cruise control module plugin. The only pin that came up with a incorrect reading was the first brake test. It's suppose to have 12 volts with brake pedal up but showed about 30, so I changed the brake light switch. Still no cruise control.
Since I have a high reading on the brake pin, do you think I have a wire issue there or would my problem be in the multi switch wires by the steering wheel?

The cruise control on my '05 Avalon Limited was working intermittently for a while. I'd hit the button to turn it on and nothing. Then a few miles down the road, I'd hit it again and it would work just fine. Today I tried to turn it on and nothing. Three different trips today and no luck.

I noticed today that my cruise control quit working. Car has about 58K miles, the "cruise" light comes on when the button on the end of the switch is pushed in, but the device itself doesn't work.

I recently bought a 1997 Park Avenue and have a couple of repair questions.1) The car is in need of struts/shocks. The rear has air shocks. Before I purchase new air shocks, how do I test the compressor to make sure there is no problem? If the compressor is bad, is it possible to install conversion shocks and do away with the compressor/ air shocks?2) The previous owner says the cruise control does not work. On rare occasions it will work for a brief time during the winter. What things can I check out? Someone suggested checking the brake light switch.

I have this weird problem with the cruise control of my 2002 elantra gt: I cannot set the cruise control at 30 or 40 mph, but I can do it somewhere above that (just went to the highway and set it around 60 mph). What could be the problem? Do cruise control systems need calibration or would I have to replace it?

I was recently on a road trip, using my cruise control extensively (like usual) when it just quit working. I tried to reset to a lower speed, but it would rev itself back up to the original speed. I turned off the cruise control, drove a mile or so and turned it back on. The cruise dash light came on, but the right control buttons no longer worked. No check engine light. It's never worked since.
My local tire shop checked codes and found the tcm not communicating with the mod (cruise module?). I'm looking to take it to the dealer, but I'd like to be better informed with what I may be dealing with before I get there.

In 1970 I bought one of the first Chevrolet Blazers. I drove it until two years ago when it finally was just too worn out to drive, at close to 300K miles. I sold it to someone who is in the process of restoring it for show. I knew that I wanted an other 2 door Blazer, but they quit making them in 1995. After a long search I purchased an original 86K miles on a 2 door 1996 GMC Yukon SLE. I love this car.However, I have just experienced my first mechanical failure. I am a fairly good shade tree mechanic. At 70 years old I have worked on every vehicle I have ever owned. So I am trying to figure out what has gone wrong with the cruise control. On a return trip from our lake house in Kansas (yes, there are lakes in Kansas) to my home in Nebraska, as I was going up and down the rolling prairie hills, the cruise control started having trouble going up the inclines. Then it quit working altogether. I checked the fuses and they are ok. My next thought is the control unit has quit working. I looked for a replacement unit and saw the price.... Is there something else that I could check before I replace the control unit? Is there any way that I can verify the control unit is at fault

The cruise control on my 2000 Blazer LS 4X4 is not working. I just changed the multi-function switch and still nothing. I looked at the throttle cables and they seem to be fine. All the fuses are good as well.
