I have an 05 Passat TDI and I'm getting a vibrating noise, almost like a radio with too much base. It was mostly in the passenger mirror but now I'm hearing it from the drivers side too. It happens @ about 40mph without radio on and I can also hear the sound if I turn on a song with a lot of base to it.

View 12 RepliesWalked out to my car last night and my mirror cap was shattered in pieces on the ground, little textured plastic lip around the glass on the ground, and the glass hanging from the heat wires. I haven't looked at it too hard since it was dark and I had to work this morning, but it appears that the plastic lip and the glass are undamaged, however there may be damage to the clips. I have called around to some salvage yards and no one seems to have one in stock. What the cheapest way to get a clean, painted mirror on my door is? Mirror was destroyed, need new one.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2001 B5.5 1.8T 5spd, no packages passat. My dad recently got a 2000 V6 B5 auto, loaded. His passenger side mirror will tilt itself downwards when the car is in reverse. Is there a way that my car can do this? It sounds damn handy living in the city.
View 3 RepliesI recently had a dash light pop on indicating that I had a light out. After searching all over the car I realized that the blinker in the passenger side mirror housing is not working.
From what I've been able to gather by looking at my driver's side mirror there are 3 small LEDs (two facing the side and one facing forward). On the passenger mirror all three of the LEDs are not working.
I find it very hard to believe that all three LEDs have burned out, since they rarely burn out at all. Why the lighting on that mirror isn't working? I haven't noticed anything else that isn't functioning at all or properly so I'm stumped.
So I have been looking at this 1999 Passat Wagon 1.8t tiptronic for a week or so now trying to decide if i am going to buy it or not. When i was looking at it today I noticed that there was a stubby mirror on the passenger side... Did these come factory on the early models? The car is completely stock and owned by a non-enthusiast, however, well maintained.

View 2 RepliesI seem to be having a problem with my passenger side mirror and it's reverse function. I have a 2008 Passat Lux. I set the mirror reverse to 'on' in the MFD. I started the car, leave it in park and set up my seats and both mirrors. I press set and then 1 to memorize the positions and hear the chime. I then proceed to put the car into reverse, switch the remote mirror dial to 'R' and position it go down.
The problem I'm having is that the manual says that the passenger mirror will go to it's original set driving position if you go over 9mph (or something like that) or if you move the remote dial to something other then 'R'. But that's not the way it's working. It should ideally go back to the original position when you put the car in to drive (like my old 2002 Passat GLX did), but even when I drive off and go over the stated mph, the mirror doesn't go back to the driving position.
While I'm driving, I then turn the dial off the 'R' position, but it's still looking down....I honestly don't think that I set it incorrectly, but hopefully I am and I don't have to bring it in to service for just that. It's a convenient feature that I want to use. Don't want to curb rash my wheels by my sloppy parking or my wife's....
I had both fronts replaced about a month or so ago. Now it feels like my driver side is still making a vibrating noise when accelerating. My mechanic told me he thinks its making noise between gears. The only reason I don't think that's what it is, is because it never made this noise before I had them replaced. They were replaced with Empi axles. Should i just have it replaced and see if it still makes noise.
View 5 RepliesI have an 08 camry v6 with 29500 miles, I've noticed 3 issues that are happening at this point.
1. When I hit 70 mph the steering wheel shakes, I had new tires installed at 25K and smooth braking. The shaking also goes away if I go above 85 mph.
2. I have two plastic Dashboard screws under the black cover that rests around the dash that keep falling out and I cant tighten them back in.
3. My drivers side mirror is vibrating when I start to drive at idle it's fine.
Other than that the car drives great..
I've searched but it seemed to lack a definitive fix. One mentioned felt glued into a crevice behind the mirror, but was not very explanatory since the pictures which were needed to understand where things went have since gone dead.

As I want to use the electrical mirrors to adjust my driver side mirror, passenger side mirror moves too. Is it possible that these faults caused by not coded ECU?
I connected ground wire of my LED to blue and black cable connected to the mirror and ran another wire from unit 10 in 16 pin door connector to live wire from my LED.
I've been back from a year overseas for a little over a month and have been driving my 2 door R daily since coming back. All of a sudden today, the passenger side window started vibrating like crazy under normal driving. It is very loud and noticeable, but goes away once I crack the window. If I roll it up and crack the driver's side, I get the "helicopter vibration noise" some have noticed when the sunroof is open (I don't have a sunroof, but have noticed this on all my other VWs).
View 2 RepliesI got in very minor accident the other day and the glass part of the passenger mirror popped out and broke on the ground. I just got my replacement glass from Amazon (I think the brand is Fit System or something). The rear tab is broke on the new part and the glass piece isn't anywhere near factory quality.
Where I can purchase an OEM replacement online? Just looking for the glass part. Also - is there a trick to snapping it back on? For some reason I cant get the top tabs to snap into place, even with the OEM broken mirror (when I tried to put it back on.

I just picked up my new 2010 Golf TDI and one thing I really miss is the passenger side mirror tilting down when I am in reverse. It is really handy for parallel parking. My Passat and BMW both have this feature and I would love to be able to do it here.

View 3 RepliesI just noticed this happening recently. My passenger side mirror looks like it is peeling. The part that "peeled off", no longer auto dims, while the 90% of the mirror still has dimming. But it looks ugly as heck.

View 24 RepliesAfter discovering my wood cracking on the doors, for some reason I decided to look at the passenger side mirror, which used to, repeat, used to go down in reverse. It no longer does. Don't tell me this is first model year shakedown problems. All of the problems on this board signal a car that was put together very sloppily, with absolutely no quality control.
View 9 RepliesJust the other day I noticed that my passenger side mirror will move up and down, but not right and left. Drivers side works fine. The mirrors are all stock, I haven't changed them yet. It's been pretty cold out lately and I recently washed my car (on a warmer day). Could this be the cause?
