I have a 06 2.0T and noticed last night when stopped at a light, a loud whistling noise was heard. When I would accelerate, the noise would go away but when coasting, it could be heard again. Is this the diverter valve? Is it easy to change?
View 12 RepliesI just installed a k&n CAI on my 3gs and i noticed a whistling noise when you accelerate from a stop and when you blip the throttle. If this is normal with a CAI or if something is wrong. I've checked for air leaks and made sure everything was installed correctly.
View 2 RepliesI have read up quite a bit on this whistle that the 4.0 liter SOHC engine makes while accelerating. Sounds like something in the TB or intake to me. There are no definitive answers to the whistle that I could find. Need to resolve this whistling noise? It's a very high pitched whistle only while accelerating at about 1/3 throttle.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2015 ford f250 xlt crew cab, 6.2, fx4 with about 1200 miles on it. My questions are, I have noticed a hissing or whistling noise while accelerating. I took to dealer and was told it was the throttle plates not closing all the way.I was told they all do this. Normal? Very annoying noise with windows down. Another noise I have been having is the brake pedal makes a popping noise while applying pressure to brakes. Dealer said brake pedal assembly was out of alignment. They said was out of alignment 1/8". After adjustment within a few days popping started again.
View 6 RepliesI Have 17400 Miles on my Wagon and After Three Weeks in the Shop I am going to pick up my Car next Monday from the Dealer. I Did not have any Warnings Just Whistling Noise which was coming from under the hood.That was weary Loud Noise. I took my car to the dealer and they told it look like a bad Engine belt. After few days they told me my transmission is bad and needs to be Completely Replaced. I Read so many different stories on this Forum about Transmission Problems and i never had any problem till now.
View 5 RepliesI haven't had my 06 Passat long, but I noticed today that, when the fan is on high, there is a loud air-rushing sound coming from the glove box. I know the glove box has a little port to let in cool air (I guess to keep your owners manual cool), and when I open the glovebox I can feel a square hole with air rushing out.
I am guessing there is probably some gasket that seals the glove box to this vent hold when its closed, and its most likely not sealing correctly.
Faint humming/whistling noise coming from the drivings side of the motor. I can hear it when I put my head next to the drivers wheel well, and most certainly from that side of the motor when the hood is popped. It's not super loud, but it is noticeable. I know we have Direct injection motors, so I know that ticking is completely normal. Am I overlooking this and being paranoid? Car has 2100 miles on it. I don't know if it was there when brand new.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2000 Passat V6 with about 75k miles. This week, my car has been making these piercing/whistling noises regardless of whether or not I'm pressing the gas. It usually occurs from 20-50 mph. Above 50 mph, there is no noise. The noise eminates from under the car, mostly on the right hand side. My brakes screech too, but they've been doing that for about 2 months now. And that screeching is a different noise.

View 4 RepliesI have noticed a whistling noise coming from under the hood. When I inspected it I notices suction coming form a small hole on the rear drivers side of the valve cover. From the little information I could find this is a PCV valve of sorts that is molded into the valve cover itself. The local dealership quoted nearly 850.00 for parts and labor. I spent a little time calling around. A VW dealer in a local city said that there was not a valve molded into the valve cover, and most likely this whistling was being caused by a hole in a vacuum line somewhere else between the engine and the firewall. This small hole is located above the where the crank case ventilation hose meets the valve cover. Is my local dealer correct in that it is the PCV valve that is part of the valve cover? Is this a fairly straight forward repair that can be done in the garage, and are there any other aftermarket fixes besides purchasing a whole valve cover?
View 6 RepliesI just purchased an 06 passat 2.0t with 59,000 miles on it. It has the 2 yr /24k mile warranty I've had it about a week.
Today I noticed something odd. The car is in motion, in an overdrive gear, idling (about 1500 rpm). When I push the accelerator lightly, I feel a very faint "pop" or "click" in both feet on the floorboard and can hear a faint click noise as the RPM increases. This happens at any speed, but is more noticable at higher speeds. Again, it is still hardly noticeable at all.
What concerns me is that it is a repeatable condition. Is this something I should worry about now or perhaps wait and see how it develops before worrying about it? It should be noted that there is no gear change when this happens.
I took my car to the dealer two days ago. The idle was rough, it stall twice and I had a CEL.. They change two high pressure fuel sensor and now the car run fine.
But now I hear a disturbing whistle sound when accelerating. The sound is audible from inside the car but louder when the window are down. This is my third turbo car and this sound as no comparison to the sweet whistle of my 1.8T for example.
I opened the hood to check if something was loose, in fact the main clamp from the inlet pipe to the engine cover was loose so I remove the engine cover assembly to check if the tech didn't forgot something else. Everything looked fine, I put everything back together and I hearing this annoying whistle again...
Have a Whistling or hissing sound while accelerating? My 2015 6.2 seems to make this sound while under load. I took to dealer and they claim its the throttle plates not closing all the way. Claims this is normal, but to me it is annoying. Just would like to know what others think.
View 9 RepliesI just noticed that at idle there is an obvious but not really loud whistling sound. I have no CEL. Is there any simple way to check for a vacuum leak or something? Maybe something through VCDS?
View 6 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2008 with around 120k miles on it. It's been pretty flawless but yesterday the RPMs started surging while idle and made kind of a high pitch humming noise when accelerating.
Today on her way to work she said the radio was going in and out, the battery light lit up and then the rest of the dash lights came on, and the speedometer stopped working.
What could be the problem? Could it just be the battery?

I have no clue what is wrong but I have an exhaust leak and when I am accelerating I can hear the loud shhh sound like the turbo is leaking but I still have power like normal.
When I turn on the car, I let it idle for about 2-3 minutes and then I drive off. When I do, I notice that there is a clicking noise for about the first 10-15 minutes while i am pushing the gas pedal. After that it seems like it has been warmed up. My dealer said it could be the drivetrain or the exhaust....I dunno who or what to believe.
View 14 RepliesFor a week now, my car whistle pretty loudly (I can hear it windows closed) when accelerating. After reading about 2.0t problems, I thought it was either a bad DV or PCV. I tried to diagnose if my problem was related to a bad pcv. So I disconnect the tube going from the intake to the pcv and plug the hole on the intake. Then I went for a ride and it whistle like before...so does this test confirm that my pcv isn't my problem?
As of now, I never saw traces of oil around the oil filler cap. When the engine is running, as soon as I press on the accelerator(even lightly), the whistle begin. As soon as I remove my foot, it whistle for a second then it stop. At a stop, if I press on the accelerator, the whistle will begin at only 5500 rpm and up.
No CEL so far related to lost of boost(I had a cel last week and they change fuel sensors and regulator). Also, the car pull pretty constantly but seem less powerful than before.
I've been hearing a slight clunk when accelerating from a stop, a very faint split second clunk between in 1st year.
Last week, I pointed the noise to a technician at my dealer and he diagnosed it as the cam adjuster lurching backward as the car moves forward.
He replaced the cam adjuster and the gasket set (058-109-088-E, 058-198-217, and 058-198-025-A). When I got the car back, it seemed like he had fixed the problem. However a week later, the noise is back.
My car stared to make this horrible screaming noise like a bad belt when I was on the freeway. When I would accelerate the slightest it would go away. Take my foot off of the accelerator, the noise would start again. I pulled over then the check engine light came on. I had it towed home.
View 9 RepliesGf's 01 B5 Wagon(tip) has the clunking noise only on accelerating from a stop,does not do it any other time,does it in tip mode as well,tie rod ends,rotors and front brakes were replaced about 2 months ago,could this be a ball joint/control arm issue,I read as much on this in the other threads when I searched,no noise on turning or braking,possible mount issue?
