Passat (B7) :: 2013 SE - Water In Trunk Lid

Aug 14, 2014

On Tuesday evening we had some torrential downpours in my area. Yesterday when I went to open my trunk after work yesterday to collect my bag from work there was water coming from behind the plastic cover inside the trunk lid. I think I narrowed it down to the two tail lights that are installed in the trunk lid. The gasket on the passenger side looks deformed. Mine is a 2013 SE.

Passat (B5) :: Trunk Water On Right Side?

I have water in my trunk. It seems to be more on the right side (the passenger side) but if it rains hard enough it gets all over the trunk. Because both of my key fobs have dead batteries I haven't gone into the trunk in about 2 weeks so now its all moist and smells like a dirty fishtank in there. I even had a small piece of plywood in there that is now warped and moldy. I've seen some threads that talk about a drainage tube that runs from the sunroof to the trunk? Where in the trunk would I find this drainage tube? That would turn me off VWs forever. Just when i thought the Passat was the best car I ever had. I was planning on having this car another 5 years.

Passat (B5) :: 2001 - Water In Trunk / Damp Carpet

I have a 2001 B5.5 passat saloon and I'm getting water in the trunk, damp carpet and water in the spare wheel well. It seems to be mainly on the left side (as you look into the trunk) I've checked the rear light seals and can't find any evidence of a leak, where else should I look?

Passat (B5) :: 1998 - Water Drip From Trunk Latch

Over the last couple of months, my '98 Passat 1.8T Sedan has started to show an annoying habit, in addition to the multiple other ones of which I will never solve.

After it has rained and things have dried up pretty well everywhere, if I open up the trunk, a stream of water always drips down from the latch. It gets pretty annoying when I have things in the trunk. I have looked everywhere on the trunk lid hoping to find a location of ingress - nothing. I made sure the channels on the side of the trunk are clear of debris too.The water does not seem to be collecting in the receptacle (on the bumper) for the latch either. It is somehow collecting in the lid. I once had a cracked license plate light holder cover, so I replaced that thinking the problem would be solved. No luck.

The only other thing I have noticed is that over the last week twice after trying to open the trunk with the handle, the handle would not release properly ( it would move up and get stuck and the trunk would not open). When I wiggled the handle, it would pop back down and then I could open it properly. The two things are probably not related.

How to solve the water drip from the latch, or at least, where the water is coming from?

Passat (B6) :: 2008 - Water Leak Into The Sides Of The Trunk?

=I have a Passat TSI 2.0 08 (48.000 Km) and since the begining of the raining season I have noticed that the basis of the lining of the lateral is soaked after rain. In order to investigate it bertter, I have removed the lining and did some tests with water. I came across a problem with the gasket and that hose that drains the water. It looks like the gasket is a little bit loose to press the hose in such a way it insulates its base avoiding water leaking into the trunk. Thus the water rolls outside the hose down to the trunk sides.

Passat (B7) :: 2013 - Locked Key Fob In The Trunk / Any Way To Get In?

Had to leave my Passat in front of Target after spending hours trying to figure out how to get in the trunk from the backseat. I couldn't believe I was dumb enough to place the key in the trunk while putting all the bags in there!

Now we were able to use one of those door airbag tools to fish a wire in and get the driver door open by pulling on the door handle. The door unlock switch did nothing when pressed. Once I got the door open I thought all I had to do was press the trunk release button, but it was not popping the trunk as it always did before.

I went into the backseat to try and pull the seats down, but cannot find anyway to fold down the back seats. My friend said you can only release the latch from inside the trunk, but there has to be a way. I only have the one key and I'm sure it will cost an arm and a leg to get a new one made. How to get those back seats down?

Lexus ES 2013+ :: Trunk Can Be Opened Using Button Under Trunk Lip Without Key Fob

I am the new owner of a 2015 ES350 and I've found that my trunk can be opened using the button under the trunk lip even when I don't have the key fob in my possession (my 2014 Dodge Charger does the same thing). How to prevent anybody without the key fob in their possession from accessing my trunk?

Camry :: Trunk Water Leakage

I have had my Camry for 9 months and unfortunately didnt know that water was going inside my trunk every time it rained, the car was washed, or snow melted! I took it to the dealer to have it looked at only to find out the trunk body seal needed to be replaced. I have had cars over 10 years and water in the trunk was never an issue.

This is my first Camry and I must admit I am not satisfied with the purchase. I hope my experience gets better.

Camry :: 2003 - Water In Bottle Sump In Trunk

The twin bottle holder sump in the trunk of my 2003 Camry takes on a few inches of water after driving through heavy rains. All other parts of the trunk, carpet, spare tire well, etc., always remain bone dry and I cannot figure out where the water is coming in. There is no sign of water coming in through the lid seal and the seal itself is unbroken and pliable. There is the seal mark uniformly minted across the sealing surface of the trunk lid.

There is something of a gap in the body right in front of the sump if you peel back the floor covering, but I can't see light through it. The sump itself, when it's dry, shows no signs of cracks or leakage. I do not actually store water or any other liquids in the sump. Actually, because it takes on water, I don't store anything in the sump. It seems easy enough to replace the bottle sump, but I'm a little reluctant to do so until I can figure out exactly where it's coming from.

Lexus SC430 :: Water At The Front Of The Trunk - No Leakage

I am getting water at the very front of the trunk, nearest the passenger compartment. Might be the drains in that vicinity that might be plugged causing an overflow there .Rest of the trunk is dry. The only wet area is immediately underneath the pull-out "shade" thing that has to be in place for the top to operate. Some indication that the water is coming from above that, since it is wet also.

Ford - Taurus :: 1999 - Trunk Full Of Water

I got a 99 Ford Taurus and recently I wanted to remove the wheel to see if I can change the front breaks myself. When I opened the trunk to get the jack, to my surprise, the recess where the spare wheel is stored (below the ‘carpet’ in the trunk) was full of water, I am talking a couple of inches deep! The spare wheel itself, which is relatively new and rarely used, was completely ruptured.I don’t know where the water could have come from.

I suppose it could have been rain, but the cardboard boxes that were stored in the trunk (above the ‘carpet’) were not wet. To drain the water out, I found a big (2” x 3”) hole in the bottom of the trunk that is plugged with a rubber plug. I removed the plug and let the water drain. But now I am just puzzled. Where did the water come from? And how come there are no drain holes in the bottom of the trunk? And why did the spare wheel rupture? And how can I prevent all this from happening again?

Toyota - Camry :: 2007 - Water Getting Into The Trunk / Resealing?

Water is getting in the trunk of my 2007 Toyota Camry. I need to replace the seal or weather stripping around the trunk, because it's come unattached in some places. I did some looking, but I am not familiar with some of the brands and vendors I see. Most of it is generic.

Are there particular brands with which you have had good luck? I've never replaced this sort of thing before.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Water Coming Into Trunk Via Vent Valves

I get a very small (between a teaspoon and tablespoon) amount of water coming in through my trunk vent valves when it rains heavy. I replaced them last week with new OEM ones thinking that was the problem because the old vents used the foam for the seal (new ones have rubber for the seal). I noticed that the water is coming in through the openings of the flaps for some reason. The water is not coming in through the seal of the vent valves at all. I also used silicone for that too just to be safe. Some how water is getting between my bumper and trunk and dripping down into the fabric flaps of the vents.

I tried resealing the rear window and I am confident there is no openings there. The only thing I can determine is that I need to replace the trunk gasket. Having a hard time finding a replacement seal for that model, 2001 Prius?
