I was putting my rear driver window up yesterday, and I hear a crunching noise.....it struggled, but I was able to get it back up. What should I do? I'm thinking it's the regulator, or a clip came off of the window, etc.
View 11 RepliesDriving over the weekend, I randomly noticed that there was a large crack 3/4 of the way across the rear driver's side window. What caused it (there appears to be an impact mark on the outside and I guess it just spread from there). This morning, the crack was completely across the window.
View 9 RepliesCracked rear window from bottom center (on the driver's side just past the Dole light). Dealer says that they would have to sub out the install. That worries me a little, given antennae & other items hooked up on/near rear window.
View 4 RepliesMy 05 phaeton has a lot of wind noise coming from it especially over 60 miles per hour. The window is fully up the door is closed and even in the car wash no water gets in. The seal seems tight.
View 3 RepliesI bought a used 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Limited in August from a Hyundai dealership near Vancouver, BC. The vehicle had fairly high mileage (95K) but had been well-cared for and I got it for a fair price.
After a few days I noticed there was a "crunching" noise coming from the rear driver's side quarter panel area when going over the u/g parking ramp into my condo. The rear seats also jiggle and rattle at moderate speeds. Didn't really notice either on my test drive before buying it, as I just went over smooth roads.
I searched this forum and found some good leads, such as the inner quarter panel being loose, rear trailing arm issues, or perhaps some faulty welds. I printed out this info. reported by other owners and brought it to the dealership.
As kind of expected, the technician each time has said he couldn't hear anything unusual. (selective hearing?) The suspension system is supposedly sound.
My friends and family members all hear this creak (under the right conditions when the rear wheels are at uneven heights)...it's not my imagination. I've taken out the styrofoam cargo support and nothing changed.
I had a loaner 2015 Santa Fe and there was no such noise.
The rear seat jiggle is also irritating. I've experimented with putting the seat backs at different angles and nothing really works.
The vehicle has about 500KM left on its 100,000KM warranty.
Just got my 2012 Prius from the body shop. Got hit in the rear where the starting battery is.
Had window control problems since battery was replaced.
Problem is that the driver-side rear window can't be controlled by the driver. It works fine with its own control but not from up front. The light on that windows button is not lit like the others. When pressed it lights and when released it blinks a few times and goes out. I unhooked the starting batter to try and reset things with no luck.
Had window on drivers side all the way down. Went to push button to raise. Window gets gets half way up and I hear a loud snap! I continue to push button and raised window all the way up. Now I hear wind and whistle sound. Does not seem to be as tight? Afraid to lower window as it may not raise again... Does this sound like the typical window regulator failure? My warranty coverage "excludes " window regulators, go figure. Their brochure says window motors and regulators covered. The actual signed contract excludes regulators? 2004 V8......

View 3 RepliesTook Phaeton in late Thursday afternoon, because rear pax window suddenly stuck down (regulator popped/exploded). Because I wanted to drive her to Las Vegas on Sunday, Sep 5, I asked my dealer if the window regulator was not available to be installed before my trip, if they could reset the window to its upright position (closed). The service writer said that this may not be possible, that the window could slip down... The mechanic reset the window up and I was allowed to retrieve my Phaeton, so I can drive it to Las Vegas tomorrow. I'll take it back to dealer when I return (a bit richer?)
Question: driving a long distance with the window up, but the window regulator broken?
My concern: the window will fall and I have no real way to get it back up. With temps running over 100 degrees every day of my trip, I do not want that window down. I have taped the window buttons (driver door and broken window regulator door) so they cannot be accidentally used..
My front pass window started to make an awful noise as I raised it so I got as far as removing the door cover but is stuck from removing the aluminum panel that covers the window. Everything is loose including the locking mech but I still cannot remove the panel. I tried with the window up and down. Is there a secret fastener somewhere?

View 3 RepliesI'm pressing the button up on the drivers console and on the rear door but it won't go up. It went down no problem but it won't come back up. Checked all fuses and they're fine.
View 4 RepliesJust dropped the car off at the dealership with the driver's side rear window stuck down. My local dealer here was pretty good, had the car inside (is expected to rain today) and put me in a rental.
In addition, they are going to investigate my touchscreen, as I've been having some red/white flickering issues when it is?
Problem I've been having with my front passenger side window. When the window is fully up, there is some very noticeable wind noise at speed which then goes when the window is moved down a fraction. Whether this a problem that's easily solved or whether it's going to require lots of fiddly work by the service technicians?
View 8 RepliesAs previously reported, I'm happy overall with my new 04, but one of the squawks I want to have looked at is the passenger window. The window stops it's upward travel about 1/16 of an inch from the top. If left there, I get a significant wind whistle. I can manually move it the last little bit, which I did (and now forbid anyone using that window until it is looked at). My major concerns are a "clattering" noise coming from the inside of the door when the window goes up or down. I'm wondering if this sound is a symptom of the controller going bad, or if I'm missing some sort of retraining for the window.
View 4 RepliesMy rear windows, driver's side mostly was stuck...on and off, mostly off...since I bought Kitacamry 2 years ago, and discovered this...(for search engine users the title identifies potential sources for the problem)...
The windows were so snug that they stuck to the rubber if not used much, and here in south Florida they're hardly used, and often would not roll down...sometimes they would but not always...dealers thought it was the motor, or the regulator or the switch...and who could blame them?
I've discovered that it's not the regulator, and that the motor was just not strong enough to "break the seal" of the rubber.
I recently had a regulator repaired (a screw was loose) and noticed that the shop sprayed the rubber with silicone and that made the window glide much more smoothly...soooo....
I sprayed the other windows' rubber seals...and WOW....all open and glide down and up smooth as silk...If your windows are stuck....give silicone spray a shot...
The rear most drivers side window, behind the spare, is not working. It has been intermittent since new but always worked at the dealer. Now its out of warranty.
View 14 RepliesI just picked the car up at the dealer, after having had the new window regulator installed.
They were just closing service and I didn't think to test the window before I left the lot, but on the way home I put the window down... nice and smooth and quiet.
Then I put it up and there was a loud thunk at the top of the travel. I tried to capture it in the attached video but it isn't nearly as "bass-y" as it is in person. Crappy mic on the phone I guess.
My other three windows have a very soft sound as they reach the top of the travel, nothing like this thunk. What it might indicate?

I managed to scrape the passenger door (mostly just the paint) on my 2014 Prius. I got it back from the shop yesterday and just noticed that I can no longer roll down the right rear window using the controls from the driver's seat. I can still lower the left rear window from the driver's seat, but the only way to open the one on the right is to use the switch on that door.
View 5 RepliesLearning how to operate my newly acquired 2004 V8 Phaeton...not too mention convincing me to purchase one. I think I even like its occassional quirkiness, such as TPMS faults - its like it has a personality.
Anyway, I have not found an answer to a problem which started yesterday:
- Rear driver-side door won't operate using outside handle
- Confirmed its unlocked, can open from inside & child locks (not that those should affect it) are off
- No problem opening passenger side rear door
- I think I hear a mechanism in the door moving when I pull the outside handle on the working side, don't hear it on the non-working door
I believe there is a cable which is attached to the door handle which may have come loose. I do have a VW Real Driver Warranty (10 Years)...and although door handles are specifically excluded, I don't think this is likely a "door handle" problem, but rather something inside the door which has broken.
The rear drivers sunshade (the larger of the two, for the main window) goes up around three or four inches and then stops.
