V10... Suspect it's the power steering pump... Seems to come from left of center of engine.
Not taken any covers off yet to see what can be seen..
Scans clear. It's arguably too loud even to drive! So needs some attention very soon.
I just noticed 2 small puddles under the car tonight. They are in the center left to right, and about even with the steering wheel (front to back). They appear to be water, but I was just wondering if this is the normal a/c discharge, or something else?

My 2007 Santa Fe Limited 3.3L with 102,000 miles started making a grinding/ticking noise yesterday. It's hard to tell but it sounds like its coming from directly under the center console. The noise is directly proportional to the speed and if I put my hand on the shift selector, I can feel the tick vibrations. It drives and shifts fine. What it could be? I'm hoping it's not a transmission issue. I'm thinking something with the AWD connection to the rear wheels.
View 1 RepliesI have a rattle/ticking noise that happens when the 05 Phaeton experiences road vibration. I'm thinking about taking it apart to see what may be loose. This is the console between the two front seats.
I've narrowed it down by placing my hand on top to silence. It can't be silenced by touching the rear seat vents or power plug cover. So it seems the whole console must vibrate to create the noise.
I'm getting a weird grinding noise when turning left/right. Doesn't happen with normal turns, just at the sharp extremes. What might cause it?
View 16 RepliesWhenever I start my car, there is about 20 seconds of loud grinding coming from the glove box. It's sort of a tak-tak-tak-grrr-tak-tak-tak-grrr over and over. I've opened the glove box and noticed that with each start, the Navi box spits out the DVD, makes an awful grinding noise, then self-reinserts the navi DVD. I'm guessing this isn't normal, as it jars the normally whisper-smooth operation of my Phaeton. Is there an easy fix, or is this something to take the car into the dealer for? It would my first time taking it in for anything.
View 5 RepliesI've got a 2000 Accord. I recently started hearing and feeling a hard knocking/clunking noise at the front-center of the car during the correct after a left turn. My trustworthy mechanic told me the subframe is rusted out on the right side and that it isn't safe to drive until the subframe is replaced (he also said he's seen several of these this last year). He suggested that the cause is that the hose leading away or down from the air conditioner is too short, and leaks directly onto the subframe. There is no recall on this problem currently. I've done some Internet research and there is some buzz about this, but not as much as I was hoping for.
View 17 RepliesYesterday I replaced what I thought was a bad front passenger wheel bearing, I removed the hub myself and took the hub to a local dealer to press out the old bearing and press in the new one.
Took the part back to the shop, got everything all assembled and took it out for a test drive. Right away I notice I still here the same noise, possibly even worse then before.
It was already late in the day so I decided to clean up and call it a day. During my trip home I notice everytime I turned the wheel to the left I here a horrible grinding noise, I did not have this sound before changing the wheel bearing.
Second guessing my own work, I took the car to the mechanic down the road today, not the same place that pressed the new bearing in. The mechanic inspected my work and couldn't find any problems at all. Even the ball joint I thought I had ruined was fine.
He inspected both from wheels for play, no play in either wheel. He then put the car up on the hoist while I remained in the car turning the wheel and accelerating. We were not able to reproduce the sound with the vehicle on the hoist, even with his stethoscope he could not here any noise coming from bearings on either front wheel. Everything sounds great with the car in the air, it's just when it's on the ground when there are problems.
Rotated all tire just to make sure it wasn't an oddly loud broken tire belt, once again no change.
I did replace the stabilizer link kit as well since the old one broke while during the wheel bearing replacement. Is there anyway I could have done something wrong with the stabilizer link that could cause this noise? I doubt this is the case since the mechanic did have a look at it.
I'm still assuming it's the front passenger wheel bearing, but don't wan't to go replacing parts I don't need. (I put a new fuel pump in my TJ 2 weeks ago only to discover all I really needed to repair was the broken wire going to the pump )
So just to be clear my car only makes this noise when it is on the ground, when the car is in the hoist I can turn the wheel and accelerate without any noise.
I have 35k on my 2009 camry, (past warranty). All of a sudden in the last few days when I make a sharp left turn (like into a parking spot) I hear a grinding noise from my car. Not really a full on grinding, but like a quiet fart can muffler noise. No issues with alignment, driving straight, or sharp right turns.

View 4 RepliesI drive a 2003 Hyundai Sonata. I currently have a slight grinding noise (or maybe more of a low growling) when I make left turns. This happened in the not-so-distant past and it was an issue with the power steering hoses (one had rusted through), so we (and by "we," I mean my fantastic father) changed it out. I thought this time it may just be low power steering fluid, but after checking it, I can say it's not low. I'd think if a hose was the culprit again, the fluid would be low. What we should look into?
View 1 RepliesThe other day I hit a good size bump at speed, slightly bent a wheel which I didn't even notice at first. The car drove straight and had no other symptoms, thought everything was okay. A couple days later I heard a weird grinding noise while making a left hand turn, it was so faint I honestly thought it was the fender liner. After the noises continued and further examination I noticed that the carrier is rubbing the rotor on the lower drivers side corner.

If I hit a bump, it starts the grinding noise but nothing constant. Had the front end checked and nothing was obvious. Was trying different things and when I put it in 4WD, with the switch on the dash, the noise goes away. What to try next?

I noticed this morning when I turn my wheel all the way to the left or right it makes a grinding or like metal on metal noise. My brakes were done only a year ago, and this noise only happens when I'm turned all the way to the right or left.
View 11 RepliesLately my 2007 Camry (2.4 L, Auto) has developed a bit strange problem. When I'm driving on highway, even slight left turn results in a grinding noise and sort of resistant steering wheel. It happens only when I turn left. As soon as steering wheel gets back to straight, the noise and steering wheel resistance/hardness goes away. I don't really feel much when I'm driving slow on the city streets. Although some time when I am little bit fast, I feel slight grinding noise and steering hardness. No problem in turning right at all.
View 5 RepliesI just got the car back from repairs, there was a loud grinding noise coming from the left side of the engine. It turned out the whole rack and pinion setup was pouring out fluids and needed to be completely replaced also while it was in there they checked out an oil leak which ended up being the front valve cover and replaced a dead O2 sensor. The car has 99,300 miles
View 6 RepliesFirst I will start off by stating that my truck is a 2005 Ford F150 2WD Regular Cab 6.5 Bed, with the V6.
My problem is, when making a left turn at low speeds, I have a grinding noise that corrects itself upon straightening out the truck. This seems to happen on turns in the parking lots etc. It almost sounds like the tires are rubbing but the tires are the same BFG's that have been on the truck for 40,000 miles and have never rubbed. I am thinking it might be the power steering pump but am unsure. I do not have access to a lift right now but I have done the shake test on all of the suspension components and nothing seems out of place or loose.
I recently acquired a B4000(for a steal!), had it almost a month now and im starting to notice a few problems, all driveline related (I think).
1. Have a "grinding/rubbing" noise in a LEFT turn only. It is a 4x4 and I haven't turned a bolt on it yet, save for very minor stuff. Since this particular model has some costly parts, I'm trying to prevent buying unnecessary parts! I have a set of 31 x 10.50 on it, and even though there is some minor tire rub, im 90% certain this is not the case.
2. Has a somewhat "hard" shift when going into O/D(I think), doesn't do this all the time, I wonder if problem #2 and #3 are related.
3. Appears to be about 1in slack in the rear driveline, wondering if it is the rearend, and specifically the spider gears or pinion?
4. Also seems to be just a LITTLE slack in the front left CV axel, is this something I should be worried about? the front right is good and tight, Tcase shifts like its suppose to.
So whenever I brake while reversing (and rarely while moving forwards) I hear this odd grinding noise coming from the front left wheel and can feel it through the brake. Im not a petrol head but I decided to replace a wheel bearing hub myself recently to save money. I am pretty sure I reconnected the anti lock brakes correctly though I doubt it's that. My brakes are good.
View 4 RepliesMy 2003 Camry makes a a grinding noise when the wheel is turned even slightly left. The noise is present at any speed, and is the same volume no matter what. I'm fairly certain its coming from the driver side front wheel. I changed that CV axle in January so hopefully that's not the issue.
