Twice today I have gotten a message to the effect that I should check my lights. I have forgotten the exact words. I checked the lights and they all seem to be working properly. Is this what people mean when they write that their lights are flickering?
View 2 RepliesPast couple of days I've had a warning pop up for "Check lights" sometimes even before i have turned them on although I do have arrive depart set to activate. On looking around all seem to be OK apart from maybe 2 leds within the tail lights. It does seem to go out within a couple of mins of actually setting off as well so clearly somethings sorting itself out.... What to check next? they seem to be working fine, I can see them autolevel when I pull up behind a car and the car settles on its suspension etc.
View 6 RepliesI posted last week that I was getting an intermittent "Steering Failure - Workshop" message on my '04 V-8 Phaeton. I asked forum members if I was alone and no one responded to the post. Last week I made an appointment with my VW dealer to get the car's steering fault looked at but I wasn't fast enough. The other day the car would not let me start it. The 'steering failure workshop' problem doesn't seem to be a mechanical issue. There are two other '04 Phaeton's at my dealer right now with the same problem. It looks like my car will join the party awaiting new steering control modules. The back-order on the modules appears to be at least another three weeks. Funny, you can get an entire Phaeton steering column in two days. If and when this steering module goes south all kinds of fun interior electrical glitches jump on board. No one ever said owning a Phaeton wouldn't be interesting and yes I still plan on keeping it for a very long time.
View 2 RepliesWhat does it mean when the PRND2 area all illuminated at the same time? Normally only the gear selected will be illuminated, but yesteday I got a solid bar illuminating all the gear selections. Couldn't find any reference to it in the manual. Shut the car off and restarted and the problem went away.
View 24 RepliesWhere is the fog light relay located in the car? I have checked the fuse and the bulb everything is fine but it wont turn on.
1. Fog light fuse still good (even try to switch to new fuse) the fog light wont turn on at all.
2. Check the connection wire everything is in intact.
3. High beam still working fine using the stalk but fog light still not working. Yes, we can only use fog or high beam, but the issue is low beam and fog not even working.
4. Before the Fog light problem, the driver side fog light is blown. So I replace it with the new bulb. Everything is OEM part there are no aftermarket part or HID .
5. This happen about a week after the driver side bulb blown then all sudden the fog just not working at all.
i drive a 2007 XC90 V8 with 76000miles and recently i got a power system failure message and battery light went on , so took it to my mechanic and he tested the car and it was tuning out 11volts so he concluded it was the alternator, so he recommended changing the regulator and i got a new regulator made by Bosch and it was installed and upon starting the message came back on and the battery light as well and upon testing it was producing 15.4volts , now its overcharging , what do i need to do ? should i buy another regulator ? as my mechanic says alternators hardly ever get damaged but the regulator is the one that usually gets damaged...

One of my taillights stopped functioning last night on my drive home. The "check lights" message came up on screen, accompanied by a loud warning chime. However, it wouldn't stop. It kept flashing "check lights" over and over, and kept repeating the chime every few seconds for my entire ride home.
This morning, everything seems to be OK. The taillight is still out, but it's not chiming repeatedly (at least for now). What caused my Phaeton to freak out like that?
Why my Phaeton cannot tell me which lightbulb has failed when Mrs AG's Audi A4, which is older, can? It just says check light and more often than not, goes off again after a couple of days as in the latest episode. Am I missing something, or is that just the way it is? I do not have a VCDS.

View 9 RepliesI thought my tranny shift points had gone a little nutty. This afternoon, it suddenly seemed as if it were starting off in 2nd gear...then the OD light started flashing. Now, when you put it in 1st gear manually, or reverse, it's like it's in park. Can't push the truck or anything...put it in drive or 2nd, and it starts off slowly. Once it picks up speed, all seems well. Definitely not starting off in 1st or going into reverse at all. Have y'all seen this problem before?
View 9 RepliesMy reverse lights aren't working. I assume the trunk cable assembly is fine, as all my trunk opening and latching works and there is no viable damage to the cable. I figured the bulbs were burned out but I pulled the trunk liner today and at least one of the bulbs looks intact. I don't see any fuse listed for reverse lights.
View 2 RepliesTook my phaeton in for routine health check. Came out with reversing lights not working. Next thing boot stops half way when opening and then stops working all together and wont register as closed on the warning system. Taken it to 2 vw dealers for investigation and so far still dont know whats wrong! They now want it for several days at great expense to investigate further. Have been in touch with vw uk who are monitoring the situation. Seems the less competent the technicians are the more it is going to cost to sort it out. Its not as simple as fuses and bulbs. Is there anywhere I could take it to like an auto electrical specialist or is there a phaeton technician out there who recognises the problem.
View 1 RepliesTwice this week, when I went out to start my car after dark, the lights did not come on automatically, even though the switch was set to auto. The headlights were on, as in DRL, but none of the dash or interior lights came on. I could turn them on by turning the switch to the on position, but then they would go back out when switched back to auto. If you shut the car off and restart it appears to correct itself. This is not a big deal by any means, but it never happened before and now it has occurred twice in a matter of a couple days. I tried to search the forum before posting, but it appears the search function is not working.
View 3 RepliesI am the owner of a 2009 Accent L (Canadian model) sedan. I have had this car from brand new and I have had two warranty issues with this car in the last 6 months. First at approx.36000 miles (60000Km) the stop light switch started sticking, so the brake lights wouldn't work properly. The second issue was the turn signal/ headlight combo switch malfunctioned and started to smoke. The dealer replaced these under warranty after some hassles.

View 5 RepliesSo, I have a 2004 Toyota Matrix with about 104K miles on it, regular oil service and general maintenance. A few weeks back, my check engine light came on, took it in for diagnosis. The code was for the TCC, indicating a recent failure to shift properly. I've noticed no unusual behavior before or since the light came on, but I'm told that this is an indication of a failing transmission. My local transmission repair shop took it for a drive and said that this was probably the case as well. Estimates for a rebuild run in the 2200-2400 range. That said, I've also seen that it could be that I just need new transmission fluid. I had the fluid replaced, again, no noticeable shifting problems or unusual car behavior.
I'm wondering if
a) I should just drive and maintain the car as usual and if the light returns, then consider a rebuild or
b) begin to make preparations to get rid of the vehicle.
Bluebook estimates this in the 3-3500 range, so I'd assume it's sale value would be quite a bit less (perhaps less than the cost of a rebuild) for obvious reasons.
Having problems with air suspension/compressor? Mine has totally failed with an error message of RUNNING GEAR FAILURE- WORKSHOP!
View 5 RepliesI just started getting this weird warning message on my dash console that says "STOP, STOP, Brake Failure, Service Manual" and the Brake and ABS lights turn on and then after a couple minutes it that all goes away.
I have checked the brake fluid and the fluid sensor and those are fine and i unhooked my battery and had it restart, but it still is giving me this message intermittently. My brakes work fine and i just had my brake pads done recently, so i know that isnt the problem.
Both of my headlight sprayer latches will not close properly and will open when I park on a decline or have a hard stop.
View 1 RepliesThe cabin light system in the roof for the rear passengers stopped working in my car a few weeks ago. The red ambient lighting that lights up the buttons still works, and one of the buttons lights up yellow (the one that controls whether or not the lights should turn on when the doors are opened). However, pressing any of the buttons has no effect whatsoever (although it did momentarily light up one of the side lights once or twice). The big cabin light and the two reading lights on the side refuse to light up.
According to my local Phaeton Center, the control module responsible for the rear cabin light system is not working correctly. They told me that replacing this module will cost me around 1000, including labour. This is a bit pricy for a few cabin lights, so I'd like to know if this is a known problem or if there is any way I could poke at some wires or whatever myself in an attempt to fix this without having to sponsor my local service center. The cabin lights in the front, including the sliding roof controls, work perfectly. It's only the ones in the back which have the problem.
I have a 2004 v8 phaeton. Recently I found out the front shocks cannot work properly to absorb the shakes. I can feel stiffened and the car swayed badly on those light offroad. How come it doesn't happen to the rear shocks but just the front one?
It is so uncomfortable while driving in my car. I also drove it to vw 4s and have the tire rotation, wheel alignment done, then they checked the air suspension and said it still worked. Actually they didn't make my car being better, coz when i drove it back home i can still feel the same, shocks are tough and the car swayed, I wondered if the front shocks have been worn out. Then I ask the advisor from vw if he can order the new parts for me, then he answered they cannot replace them for me, coz it is air-shocks, i am so confused , what's that mean by air shocks?and air shocks can not be replaced?
