i have a 2005 prius got it 2 years ago when it hade 120,000 miles now has 211,000 runs good but last week on my driver side the tail light and low beam light stopped working at the same time the high beam works fine what could it be?
View 19 RepliesI have a 2006 Prius that I purchased with no upgrade on the headlights. There was an upgrade available for high intensity lights, but, I didn't get them. The low beam on the passenger side headlight just stopped working. Two questions:
1. I was just told by the Toyota dealership that to replace the headlight, the entire front end of the car would need to be dropped. They just told me that with them supplying the bulbs, the cost would be about $250 plus tax. If I supply the bulbs, only about $200 plus tax. My owners manual indicates that this is a do-it-yourself project. Is this true or is the dealership trying to make money off of me?
2. When I do replace the lights, I would like to put in something that would put out more light than what I have now. I have been told to be careful because many replacement lights throw off so much heat that the housing around the bulb could melt. Also, I have read that some of these replacement bulbs have a very short working lifetime of 1-2 years. Obviously, I would want to keep away from them.
My driver side headlight and tail lights are not working. The brake lights and turn signals still work. I checked all of the fuses and light bulbs nothing is blown. It did rain yesterday and it looks like some moisture got into the driver side headlight, not like a pool of water just some condensation on the lens.
View 7 RepliesMy driver side power window on my '05 super crew f150 has stopped working. It rolled down maybe 3-4 inches or so and the stopped working and now will not go up or down. All of the other windows/locks/mirrors on the main switch work so I'm not sure if I should start with replacing the motor or try the switch first.

Figured it blew the bulb so I replaced it and still nothing. High beam still works, low beam doesn't. Checked the low beam fuses and they seem to be fine. 2004 FX4

We had just driven the truck up the Dalton highway (The rough road seen on Ice Road Truckers).The passenger side low beam works fine, and all the other lights work fine.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2008 Generation II Touring Edition Prius. Someone informed me that my passenger side tail light was not working. I ordered some red LEDs to replace the suspected burned out bulb. When I opened up the trap door from the inside of the rear and when I checked on the bulb, it lit up. (Thought that it had loosened itself?)
When my LEDs arrived, I unplugged the bulbs (right and left) and attempted to replace the old bulbs. The LEDs would not light up. And now the bulbs will not work either.
I went to the auto parts store and bought replacement 2825 bulbs. No go. Is there a fuse that may have blown? Or ??? I don't have a tool to check for voltage - what is my next step?
I recently got a used 2007 prius as my first car; Unfortunately today the drivers side lock has stopped working. when trying to use the smart unlock, the Prius would beep many times, and the drivers door would not unlock (or lock for that matter). After getting into the car (with the mini key) I noticed that the inner lock button does not lock or unlock that door either.
All other doors function normally. The lock can be manually operated, so it's probably not mechanical.
Prius 2004 with 86K miles. My brake led light on the driver side stopped working completely the other day. For some time now (6 months) i knew the top led of the brake light was not working, but yesterday I discovered that the whole led is failing. tail and parking light on the same assembly are working fine. I pulled off the plastic door inside the trunk and I checked connections for faulty ones but everything was tight in its place. Is there anything else I can do before preparing to go to the "butcher" dealer?
View 3 RepliesThe brake light on the driver side doesn't work. The center window brake light works as does the passenger's side brake light. My first thought was the bulb, but when I just have my tail lights on it works just fine. From what I can tell it's obviously the same blub so I don't know where to go from here. The fuse that controls the brake light also controls all of the brake lights so I don't think that would be it since only one side is out. Trying to avoid going to the dealership if I can.
View 7 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Echo that has just recently developed a problem with the driver side low beam headlamp. When I hit the light with my hand then it comes to normal but when I switch off the car engine and restart then again no lowbeam lights.
I thought one of my bulbs had burned out and when check the bulb so I found a small piece broken in bulb glass so I replace it with new one and then.
The one working was went off and the one bulb replace start working then I took off both bulb and swap with each other and now..
When the lights are on low-beam the bulbs barely light and if I switch to high-beam only driver side works and passenger side no low/high beam.
Both parking and turn-signal works perfectly However. Somebody suggested that the ground wire of headlight could be damage/faulty.
Troubleshooting a headlight problem on a 2004 V8 Touareg. Driver's side xenon low beam flickered rapidly and then quit working. I replaced xenon bulb with OEM part, still not working. Swapped in known good bulb from passenger's side, still not working. Took to dealership, who said it needed new ballast, which dealer would be happy to install for a mere $900 in parts and labor. Declined dealer's offer, ordered new replacement OEM ballast (from Chrysler dealer for several hundred less than VW), installed new ballast, still not working. Cleared all fault codes using VAG-COM, still not working. Swapped in known good ballast from passenger's side headlight, still not working. Auto-leveling is still working in both lights. So...not the bulb, not the ballast. Wiring harness, perhaps?
View 3 RepliesMy 2006 Prius (Model NHW20) has a strange headlight problem. On the passenger side, the high beam light is out but the regular headlight works.
On the driver side, the high beam is working but the regular headlight is out.
I don't think it's the fuses but I'm not sure. No amount of interchanging the following fuses changes anything about the issue:
1. 10A H-LP HI RH
2. 10A H-LP HI LH
3. 15A H-LP LO RH
4. 15A H-LP LO LH
Just bought a 2006 with 80k miles and HID headlights on it and noticed while parking in the garage last night that only the passenger side high beams work. Upon closer inspection and having my fiance flip the beams on and off I could see that the reflector on the drivers side didn't move at all.
This is after i just had a brand new driver side lens, bulb and ballast installed as when i bought it the headlight had a lot of condensation built up inside it. So I'm not really sure if the highbeam was working before this was all replaced because the bulb went out right after i bought it.
I have a 2005 F-150 and the tail lights and turn signals stopped working. Only the park light seems to work and it very dim. I replaced the bulbs and that did not fix the problem, so I checked with a volt meter and I'm only getting 6 volts to the socket. Fuses appear to be good.
View 1 RepliesAll windows except the drivers window stopped working last night. And the front passenger window is down 2". Wouldn't ya know it before I got home it started raining. Stopped by a store and got a large box of cling-wrap to wrap the top of the door in plus stayed off the interstate to get home without soaking the inside but where do I start looking for the problem? Why the drivers window works fine but not the others. Seems they should all be on the same circuit. Everything else seems to be working fine, door locks, etc.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2006 Ford F-150 with about 43,000 miles .. love it. However, my driver side window stopped working today. For about the past month when you would power up, it would delay and then go up. This happened every so often. Going down was never a problem. Some times window would go up, then drop down an inch or so. Now this morning I went to the store and the window won't go up and it is down all the way. I do not hear grinding, only clicking. All other windows work fine.
View 5 RepliesWell, as the cold weather has approached, a minor issue has surfaced.
It appears my driver-side mirror heater is not working. Both mirrors still move as they should, and the rear defroster and passenger side mirror both heat as the should with the defrost button, but the driver side does not, as it is cold to the touch and naturally did not melt the frost yesterday.
I looked at the fuses hoping it would be something as simple as that, but it does not appear there are separate fuses for each mirror; the naming is a bit cryptic, but it looks like there may be one for both mirrors, which logically would not explain the situation.
Seems to me the heater itself is defective, and I am not exactly looking forward to opening up the mirror and/or spending money to fix this...
The Prius is a 2006, and I am up to 256K KM (~160K miles) to date.
Drivers side low beam not working. The bulb is fine saying something was tapped in, therefore, can't warranty headlight. Guy said the light gets power just light won't work. Can Vagcom fix this? Dealer wants $125 for inspection plus another $676 for parts and labor.
View 19 RepliesMy passenger side tail light (the upper part above the reverse lights) don't light up when you press on the break. Or rather, they light up, but just not as bright as the driver side. I took the car to the dealership and they told me they'd need to replace the entire tail light and I just wanted to see if that was indeed the case.
View 3 RepliesMy tail lights have recently stopped working. When I use blinkers, they are slow, and don't blink if brakes are pressed. The brakes show as a very faint light that cannot be seen in day time. I turned on the hazards to look myself, and they started beeping. I called GMC support and it's too old for them to still know anything about it. I checked the fuses for the rear end and they are both working.
