I just bought my 2007 prius about a month ago. now the check engine light is on... Can I go to 7/11 to get the code checked? Also I need to smog the car soon.. so hopefully the code isn't that big of a problem. The car runs great still.. averages around 50 mpg so far..

View 3 RepliesChanged the engine oil last weekend at the in-laws' house. 800 miles later (they live 600 miles away, memorial day weekend getaway) today the Maint Req'd light came on. I checked the service manual and just as I suspected it said to replace the engine oil.
View 1 RepliesSo I had a random issue today. I went to start my car this evening, and it wouldn't start. The lights on the dashboard (warning, maintenance, etc.) lit up, and the headlights and interior lights were extremely dim. Figured it was an issue with the battery. Used my husband's car to run errands and came back about an hour later. We decided to try starting the car again, and it turned on, headlights and interior lights were normal brightness, but the gas gauge is at one bar, which I know isn't possible because I have only put 166 miles on this tank of gas. I reset the gauge at each fill-up so I can track how my mileage changes. The maintenance light is also still flashing. None of these were issues I had last night, so what could be causing all these problems? Can I fix it myself, or do I need to take it into my Toyota dealership?

Now all the warning lights are on and the car won't start. I suspect it's related to the order or timing of pushing the start button but I'm afraid to try too many times. What this is?

When I start the car, recently, a "Maint Required" light comes on and flashes about three or four times, then goes away. This is after all the other dash lights during the test phase go out. When I took it to have the codes read, the device said "No Codes" stored.
What does this mean? And is it a serious problem?
My "Maintenance Required" light on the dash is flashing 4-5-6 times when I start up the Prius every time, why?...
I went through all of my Maintenance menu items and most of them arent set to begin with, but the ones that ARE set, still have 4000+ miles til the next service...
I have a 2007 Prius which today, for the first time ever, refused to start. I pressed the Start button and all that happened is the "check engine" and "airbag" lights came on (dimly), and the green LED on the "P" (park) button began blinking. I pressed the "Start" button again but nothing I can do will change this. The car is sitting in my garage now, in this condition. I turned the dome light on briefly and it was very dim, so I suspect the 12v battery is dead. Only problem is, to access it requires opening the back hatchback door, which won't open without 12v power. Meanwhile the tiny bit of power that's left is being drained by the system in it's half-on condition (above). If I could get to the battery I could connect an external charger to charge it up enough to start it but I can't. What should do?

Is it serious? Can I still drive?? Do you think it is the in cab air filter never have changed that one?? I really don't have the $$$$$ to take it to the dealer.

View 1 Replies2007 Prius. It is a very cold day (5 F) and it won't start. I pushed the button as usual- first time the keys were still in the house and it did give the indication. Then the panel lit up normally but wouldn't go into reverse. Then I tried shutting down, had to hit the button a few times, and now all I get is the check engine light and a fan is running somewhere. The other thing to note is there was a beeping when I opened the door when I first got in and was running around getting the keys etc.
I have two little ones who don't like me to spend time on the computer, so I did a quick look around here and saw that the red triangle symbol with the exclamation point means the 12 volt battery is low. I get that warning on and off for probably at least a year... couldn't find any information on it in the manual so I was just ignoring it. Does this mean my 12 volt is completely dead? Is that the hybrid battery or the regular battery like in a regular car?

This happened once before, and it was a quick fix, but the service person that figured it out no longer works there. They tell me they followed the required procedure that works all the time. My car seems to have a different issue.

View 3 RepliesThe engine symbol (not the "Engine Maint. Reqd." light, but the actual image-of-an-engine light) has been coming on and going off for the past 3 months. The car has 76,000 miles and is in great condition overall. When the light comes on, there's no discernible change in the way the car rides or feels. Each time I've gotten close to taking it in for service, the light has gone off, so I've decided not to spend the money. Since the first time it came on back in December, I've put a bottle of fuel-injector cleaner in and there seems to be a correlation with the light going off again anywhere from 1 mile to 50 miles later.
