I have a 05 Prius that is having an issue with the cluster not lighting up occasionally. Sometimes what i have to do is turn the car off and press the panic button, disarm the alarm and then restart the car for the cluster to light back up. Ive taken it to the dealership a couple times already but every time they have the car the problem doesn't occur.

On bright sunny days if i have my lights off, and partially because i have 85% tint, the cabin itself can be dark, and therefore it would be nice if i was actually able to see my dials, and not have to have the lights on.
In the past few days, I've noticed that when my headlights are on the white backlighting of the speedometer, tachometer, and other gauges in the instrument cluster fail to illuminate, however the red needles within each gauge do illuminate properly. Furthermore, the rheostat adjustment does successfully brighten and dim the red needles, but the faces of the gauges remain dark. I checked fuses 23 and 27 and both are fine.
View 24 Replies2003 f350 5.4L auto 4x4. The lights stopped working on the dash so now I can't see the speedo at night. All the dummy lights and gauges work. I checked the 3 fuses for the cluster from the owners manual. All 3 are good. Here's the thing, fuse 35, Checked for continuity, my meter read 192 not all zero's like it should have. I pulled the fuse and rechecked it, it was good.
I replaced it anyway. rechecked with fuse in, I get 192 again. pulled fuse again, checked both sides of socket for voltage and I'm getting 12.64 volts on both sides of the socket. Even though the fuse reads good, could this be the reason my cluster isn't lighting up? Is there a fuse on the back of the cluster?
I see a lot of threads on the cluster lights being out but its usually no tail lights or power windows or other things, and if there's a solution nobody is posting it. Mine is simply no lights on dash or I should say (No Back lighting). All my lights inside and outside work.
I have a 2007 Prius with 110000 miles on it and i have had an issue with the dash not coming on when the car is started. This has happened 3 times this year. I would start the car like normal everything else comes on and it is drivable but nothing is displayed where the speedometer should be. Sometimes when this happens it wont turn off by hitting the power button but it will allow me to just pull out the key and it shuts off then. these last two times it took around 5 minutes of just leaving it alone and the display comes back on when I start it up. I checked the 12v battery and everything seems to be fine.

Swap out the LED dome lights in a 2012 Camry SE? I'm considering switching the bulbs out from the yellow tone stock lighting to the white lighting LED bulbs. I am also considering floor lighting that can be activated with the dome light switch and/or with the doors opening. The issue I'm having is that I would like them to be hooked up to the same switch that the stock lights are set up with. (So I can use the dimmer switch for lighting). Where I would be able to tap into the wiring for this? Is there a DIY thread somewhere?
View 3 RepliesSomeone mentioned that the lighting on the speedo/revs came on after a delay instead of slowly getting brighter. Anyway mines now doing this, the needles light up red then maybe 15 seconds later the background lights come on.

View 24 RepliesCluster dead. Held power button for 3 seconds. Engine shuts off but MFD stays on and green power stays on too. I've tried holding the power button for 20+ seconds. I can restart the car normally and and the engine starts up. Holding the power button for 3+ seconds turns the engine back off, but not completely. When I walk away from the car, it complains I'm leaving with the key and beeps at me. It's still powered on in my garage.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 package 5 and one of my headlights occasionally flickers and goes out, but if I turn the headlights off then on it comes back on for a bit til it turns off again. I just got this car used, and I am wondering if this is normally how these lights act at the end of their lifespan or do they just burn out for good like a regular lightbulb.
View 5 RepliesI have a new-to-me (2 weeks) 2004 Prius, and my wife has noticed a weird behavior on start up which I have not been able to reproduce.
Occasionally when she starts up the car the brake light comes on as if the parking brake were set. The ready light will not be on. No other warning or error lights come on. If she turns off the car, and then turns it on again the light will be off and not return. Tapping or setting and releasing the parking brake has no effect.
She swears it has nothing to do with her pushing the parking brake or not pushing the pedal brake. This seems to have started after I set the parking brake one afternoon, but that could also be coincidental.
I can hear a strange noise from the front occasionally, independent to my operation. It sound like rolling a cassette tape in a old driver. The sound repeats every several minutes, and lasts about 5 seconds each time.
When I standing outside the car, it hears louder from under the bonnet.
My car was working fine except for occasional no dash lights. Unfortunately where my dash lights don't work sometimes I can't see my gas gauge and I ran out of gas today. I manage to make it to the gas station on battery power I presume. Filled the tank up with 11 gallons and the car seemed to work fine for the remainder of my trip(about 5 miles). So I parked at my destination and went inside for 30 minutes and then I went back out and started the car. I attempted to clear the out of gas error code and all of a sudden a whole Christmas trees of lights popped on my dash. I rescanned and these codes were read out

History : I had the coolant pump inverter changed 2-3 months ago by a mechanic and hybrid battery and battery ecu changed 2 years ago by myself.
About two months ago, one of our two headlights was out. I came to Prius Chat -- of course -- to find out if I had to buy the super expensive ones from the dealer. Everyone seemed to agree that the best bet was to buy them from Amazon. We did. The dealer charged to install them and it was quite a task, things had to be removed and I didn't watch, so i can't be all that specific. At first he thought he could just stick them right in, but then quickly realized it was the kind that are difficult to replace.
So fairly soon after this job was done, my husband -- who is the 99.9 percent of the time driver -- noticed that they both just went off. He drives a windey mountain road in the dark, so this is not okay. However, by merely switching them off and then back on again, the problem went away. I worry that this could get worse. Last night, I was driving the car in the night and had been on the road for at least 20 minutes or so, when they went off. I turned them off and back on, and all was well. So, what's up with this?
I have a 2006 with 142k miles. Sometimes when the engine shuts off, its not as smooth as it used to be...any thoughts?
View 3 RepliesMy '08 radio has developed an intermittent problem. When I get in my car on a hot afternoon and start it up, occasionally I lose control of the panel buttons - power, station up/down, input select, disk eject, etc. But, all of these controls work just fine on the steering wheel control. If I cool the interior down and then restart the car, everything is back to normal, all buttons work. What this might be? It's only happened twice, but I want to be able to speak intelligently to my service advisor when I report it next visit.
View 3 RepliesI just took delivery of a 2012 Prius V - III yesterday and went out to drive it at night for the first time tonite. After setting the overhead switch to auto to make the interior lights come on when opening the door or unlocking the car, I noticed that I couldn't find the shift lever after the interior lights when out. I know where it is, but it was not illuminated and I had to feel around for it. Is the lever supposed to be illuminated and if so is the light internal to the shifter or is the shifter supposed to be illuminated from the overhead console or the dash?
View 6 RepliesI just got projector lamps with Halos and LED fog lights for my 2004 Camry I tapped all the wires for the halo and the led fog lights to the parking light. Did it correctly, positives to positive and grounds to ground. However The halos and led fog lights aren't lighting up. I tested and it is getting power but I suspect its because the parking lights get 6v and only get 12v for the turn signal.
how to wire these? Maybe straight to the battery with a switch?
I followed the instructions in the manual for disabling the "perimeter" lighting feature. I don't get the "chirp" that let's me know the truck is in programming mode. I did have instant success in disabling the automatic door locking feature which is done by a similar process. I did get the "chirp".
