I realized my newly bought Priuss' horn wasn't working when I tried using it earlier in the week.
Me and my dad and I opened up the hood, we realized that the fuse box was missing the horn fuse.
Dad being a a self taught mechanic, we inserted the fuse and almost instantly, the horn started going off. It was just a constant loud beep.
He then removed the fuse and the horn stopped.
My 07' 142k with new 12v battery keeps setting off the alarm. All the doors were opened and shut, trunk and hood than locked but to no avail. Alarm keeps going off unless the key fob is inserted in dash.

View 1 RepliesWe have a 2013 Prius v two that is 5 months old. It has NO alarm system. This morning while sitting in our garage the car sounded as if a car alarm went off. The lights started flashing and the horn went off and on for 10 seconds or so. This happened three times over a period of 2 hours. There is no car alarm in this car.
I turned on the car to see if there were any error messages. We are coming up on the 5000 mile maintenance and the indicator for that was on. There were no error messages.
I don't use my horn unless absolutely necessary. Well, today it was. Guess what? The Sounds of Silence. No horn, no how.
Turned out, the No. 16 fuse was, in fact, blown. What caused that, I don't have a clue. Replaced it and it is working again. Hopefully, not a harbinger of electrical gremlins to come.
The horn doesn't work, but when I lock the car I get the "honk" from the factory alarm...
Long story short...car got broken into, radio stolen, n00b-dumbass radio installer from the insurance company was fuddeling around with the fuse box to power the radio via a 12v source (again...long story). His hands were also behind the kick panel below the steering wheel to run some wires. I only noticed the horn not working a few days after this guy worked on my car. Coincidence?

View 3 RepliesJust noticed I have no more horn... I had car alarm issues for a while and the alarm would sound all day in the parking garage while I was at work (was keeping the car unlocked at home...) Finally fixed the hood pin.
Going back to the horn, the horn fuse was burned in the hood relay box, and when I replaced it and tried the horn again, it burned again... Where to start? Do I go for new relays, new horns, new wiring or all of the above...
Yesterday the horn on my 2007 Passat has stopped working completely. I have read the owner's manual from cover to cover and the fuse for the horn is not listed anywhere in any of the fuse diagrams - either for the engine compartment cover, or on the fuses listed in the interior by the driver's side.
In addition the MFD steering wheel controls have also stopped working, and there is also no night time illumination on those buttons. I'm guessing as these are also located on the steering wheel that the two problems might be linked. I can live without the MFD controls, but the horn is a safety issue.
Looking for a wiring diagram for a 96 model with 3.4 engine? The horn fuse keeps blowing and I don't know what else is on that circuit to check. The horn works when the fuse is replaced but the fuse blows at some time afterwards.
View 5 RepliesMy girlfriend went to start her car this morning only to find that it would not start and there is a click coming from the horn fuse. Went to try to jump start the car and the horn actually came on, but still would not start. I have researched a little and found this can be a common problem with the rubber bumper under the hood or caused by unlocking the door with the key and not not the remote start. She called hyndai and they suggested to charge the battery and then try to shut the alarm off with the fob.

He replaced the battery last week after vehicle would not start. Noticed he blew a radio fuse but nothing else until yesterday. Major issues of all instruments, ac, windows, etc going out. Unable to start vehicle without jump.Had a error code B1676. So today we switched the battery, all is good (for now) except for horn fuse that keeps blowing.

Yesterday my horn started honking when I turned the wheel. At first I thought I had brushed the horn with the heel of my hand, but then I was careful and it continued to honk when I turned. My temporary solution was to disconnect the horns until I can get it to the dealer.

With fuse out pressing left side of horn cover on steering wheel I can feel/hear relay click. Pressing right side not so much. What and where to check? All the doors and trunk and hood are fully closed and the vehicle is locked when parked. I'm baffled as of what could be causing this. View 6 RepliesWhen you turn the steering wheel, left or right, the horn honks at random stages of turn. Nothing long, just a short honk. If you stop the wheel where the honk happened, it just honks.
