My 2010 Prius with 72k miles on it. I bought a OBDII scanner and read P0401 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Insufficient Detected. The check engine light comes on for few days, then go away for few weeks and then come back again. It's been doing the exact same thing (Come on for few days and then go away) in last few months. But I do not feel any different in terms of driving.
View 9 RepliesI've read many threads in here, but I didn't find problem of my car. It's Toyota Prius-3 2010, check engine light on and code is P0401. EGR Valve works well, I cleaned pipe, gasket, cleaned throttle plate and everything but nothing works.
I have (light on) it maybe 1 year or more, the light goes away and come back,I'm in Los Angeles and all they time is sunny day and weather is nice, I've seen 3 times, when i drove in rain evening and morning I didn't see light on.. then, couple days and comes again. I think maybe EGR cooler has to be replace? or I do not know why in cold weather time light goes away..
I have a Toyota Prius (2010), and the car has run for about 2800000 kilometers. One day when a was driving my Prius the engine light suddenly get on. So I went to a car car mechanic, he checked the car and told me there was an error code (error code: P0401, exhaust problem (exhaust recirculation flow).
So I bought a liquid that I put in the gas tank, the liquid would clean the exhaust pipe, but the engine light was still on. The engine light is usually on at least 2 weeks, then disappear for about 2 days and come back in two weeks…The car is driving normally without any problems.
My camry 2000 recently the engine light's on and the codes are P0446 and P0401
P0401:The PCM has determined that there is insufficient flow in the exhaust gas recirculation system.
P0446: The PCM has determined that a malfunction exits in the electrical circuit fo the vent control in the evaporative emission control system.
I have a new to me 07 MDX with 82k miles. Exactly at 1 mile over the 30day/1200 mile used car warranty the Check Engine Light illuminated along. The NAV screen showed an emissions code P0401. I really don't notice any symptoms in running at all. Anyway a few drives (on/off) and it turns off for four days. It happened again with same code. Again few drives it went off. It seems to happen when driving easy. It gets great MPG in mixed driving on average (20MPG) which is far better than its rating. Should I wait till it stays on steady before I address this?
View 3 RepliesI just picked up a 2011 Ford F350 about 8 months ago. I have had troubles with the check engine light coming and going. Now it's been on for good with loss of power. I have had the codes read and they came up as the p0401 and a code about the def heater. I can not remember that code off the top of my head. After some searching I have found a video about the def heater but nothing about the Egr cooler/valve. Is there anything out there about how to clean and remove the the cooler as I will be needing to do repairs myself as the truck has no warranty.
View 10 Replies2002 Ford Windstar: Whenever I disconnect the battery and then reconnect it, I get this hum that sounds like the CD player preparing to play a CD. There is no CD in the player. It last for about 30 seconds and then stops. Afterwards, my check engine light comes on and stay on until I have the mechanic reset the alarm. The battery is new. My meter shows that the battery is giving out enough volts. It annoys me to have the check engine light on all of the time. I'd rather it be off so it can report if something else goes wrong with the engine.
View 1 RepliesMy 2001 Buick Lasebre is not starting properly. I have to pump the gas several times before it will start; then when it is started at low speeds or idle it wants to stall. As long as I can some how keep pushing the gas peddle it wont stall. On the other hand when I am driving at higher speeds, anything above 40 or so it runs perfect. The check engine light was on and shows EGR valve stuck open. I have replaced the Mass airflow sensor, fuel filter, and the EGR valve. I had the code cleared and a short while later my check engine light came back on with the exact same reading. I bought this car only a week ago and was not expecting to have to fix a car I just bought and ran fine while test driving it. I have read may different forum that say that it could be anything from my fuel pump to vacuum hoses, to some other sensor.
View 19 RepliesLast Fri the check engine light came on so the first thing I did was check the gas cap. It was loose so I retightened it and went on my way expecting the lght to eventually go out. It was still on several hours and a couple of stops later so I called my dealer and explained to my service rep what was going on. He told me to give it a few days and to call him if it didn't go out by today. He said it takes a few days for the computer to reread the system. So we drove it all weekend and it finally went out this morning (Tues). With just under 145000 miles I'm wondering if I should get them to put it on the scanner anyway. It's$130 to do the scan so it's a bit of a ding in the budget. Do the hybrid batts need to be checked,indicator light or not? Here in Ca I think they have a 150000 mi warrenty?
View 15 RepliesStarted my 2010 gen 3 Prius 3 the other day and got a bunch of what I thought was engine clatter and the check engine light came on.
The next time I started it, no noise. Anyways brought it to dealer and they diagnosed it and ordered a new manifold.
The next day when the part arrived, I brought in the car. Talked to the mechanic, a great guy, and he explained what happened. Apparently, the clatter is actually the springs rattling in the clutch mechanism of the starter motor/electric motor and not the valves like I thought.
I have a 2010 gen 111 with nav system etc, the other day a orange check engine light came on, I took it to our Toyota Dealer and they said that I had mud and gravel up in the car, near the fuel intake area, and that the carbon capture canister/switch was damaged by the dirt and I need to get it replaced. I asked if I could simply not make the repair due to the fact that the electronics system would eventually not be able to read the H Carbon readings and the car would burn more fuel.
View 1 RepliesMy check engine light went off last month and when I had it looked at my dealership they said it was due to the seal where the gas cap locks into I believe. Anyway, a week later my light went off again and now they are saying it is the charcoal cannister which I found out is very expensive. Here are my two questions. First of all, can I get this part replaced and installed at a non-dealership? My second question is since they reset my check engine light, it came back on a few days later for two days and then turned off completely. Should the light have turned off on its own? Should I be concerned that it is no longer on? It just makes me wonder if they diagnosed this issue correctly or not.

I understand that there is a graphic screen that shows red arrows moving out of the engine, but when using other screens I can't tell if the engine is running. Wiring an LED indicator light that shows when the engine is running? And if so, where what power supplied for the light?

I haven't driven the car for 4 days, and when i started the engine this morning, the engine show knocking when the regular engine kicks in (rough). i will be bringing the car in tomorrow (dealer). my car is a 2011 with 16k miles, strange for this to happen so early in age.
Got a 2010 Prius with about 61000 miles on it. Starting yesterday the check engine light stay on all the time (As soon as I started the car). I tried open and tighten the gas cap but no luck and check engine light still stay on all the time. What could be the problem? Will any ODB scanner able to diagnose the check engine light code or need a specific one?

Took it right back to the dealer...in which they said its the air/fuel sensor. Toyota warranty services was closed, so they need to check tomorrow if its covered by the remaining warranty or not.

Drove it a few nights ago and it felt really gutless. Next morning, no start. Well, it tried, but it sounded like it was run out of fuel (had half a tank)and I turned it off. Changed both fuel filters, key on / key off to purge system about 2 dozen times. Still no start.
I have all eight injectors with "injector Circuit Low" code, a P0401 - Exhaust Gas ReCir Flow Insufficient Detected, and P0672 - Glow Plug #2 (which it has had for a few months).
I thought with all of the injectors, it might be the FICM, checked the FICM voltage with Torque during a start and it showed 47V the whole time.
Harness? I did not think running with the glow plug error would be a big deal especially during the summer in So Cal.
My check engine and red triangle light came on. I checked the code and it's a battery issue. The code is P0A7F. I called the dealer and they want me to bring the car in for a check.
I'm afraid it will lead to me replacing the battery. I have about 117,000 miles on the car. They have a service bulletin open on this code but I may have exceeded the 100,000 mile limit.
If I do need to replace the battery are there any improvements I can make in this area?
