I have LED bulbs for the rear turn signals but will need to replace the relay so I don't get the fast blink. Where is the dam thing and how do you get to it to replace it?

View 4 RepliesI am getting ready to switch out the turn signal bulbs in my 2012 F150 to LED bulbs. I know on my previous truck (2006) I had to switch out the turn signal relay so the turn signal lights would not fast flash. On my 2012 it sounds like the flasher unit is up high in the dash board behind the instrument panel and I can't see it.
How to access it easily? I have seen on other forums the talk of there not being a flasher relay and being computer controlled, but there is one listed on Ford parts for the 2011 and 2012 F150s.
I have been searching the web and can't seem to find any information on replacing the turn signal halogens with LEDs on the 2013 ES350. Is there a hyper-flash issue? The Lexus LED Flasher Turn Signal Relay (81980-50030) doesn't appear to be compatible with the 2013 model. I don't really want to go the resistor route, am I missing something? I would like to install VLEDs Platinum 21 Amber(Front) and Red(Rear).

The problem:
No rear brake lights.
No high mount brake light.
No rear turn signals.
No rear hazard flashing lights.
All trailer lights work.
All other truck lights work.
Things checked: Fuses all OK. Visual inspection of multi-function switch. Looks clean. Brake switch at brake pedal has power on one wire. Jumpered the other wire-no brake lights.
I need to haul my trailer and am nervous when I see a Savannah, GA metro police car.
I'm looking to replace the headlights and turn signals on my 2002 Excursion - I've seen loads on Ebay, but don't really know how to tell what ones are ok? I like the chrome style, and like the led lights too - but mainly I just want the front of the truck to look more modern (I am buying the 05 style grill too)...
View 10 RepliesI've changed out all of my external lights for led's, including the turn signals. I had planned on replacing the turn signal relays with led comparable versions but have been unable to find the relays in the fuse boxes. The box that does the actual clicking under the dash seems like it could be it but it looks completely proprietary to this model, and not readily available in the compatible version.
I ended up installing resistors for now but that's caused other problems with my lights. Now when I turn my high beams on all 4 turn signals light up solid and I am unable to use them until I turn the highs off.
So, I would love to know if I do have a relay replacement option for my 2012 Santa Fe...
I'm replacing the rear hub/bearing assembly on my 2010 Prius. It seems pretty straight forward. What is the correct torque for the 4 bolts holding it on? Also what is the correct torque for the 2 bolts holding the rear brake caliper on?

After the repair I noticed that I'm not getting any power to the rear turn/brake, and backup lamps.The tail lamps and third break light work as does the trailer plug. I know that they were working prior to repairing the front. I did disconnect an aftermarket alarm during the repair. Basically all I replace was L/F sheet metal. Of cause I checked the obvious things like fuses and current to the tail light sockets.

View 6 RepliesI made the conversion of the regular bulbs to led ( stops, position, turn signals ) but I have fast blinking in turn signals. I know that the led has fewer electric resistance than the regular bulbs so the car takes this like a damaged bulb.
I know two possibilities:
1- A resistance for each one of the led to confuse the system.
2 - Changing the electronic relay
I don't know which one is better. I need a resistance for each bulb? which relay is the appropriate one for this car (there's a lot of references on the internet and I can't find the relay in the hood's car).
Well now I have to replace the multi function switch due to moving my steering wheel and the headlights sometimes working and turning signals not working. I saw a great video on youtube about changing a Multi Function Switch and it shows where the air bag needs to be removed. I was hoping that since my truck is an older 1997 F250 LD I wouldn't have to remove the airbag. Is there a way to do this w/out messing with the airbag on the 1997?
View 1 RepliesMy '99 F150 is having wiring issues. It started with a left flasher being fast and the rear bulb not working. I put in new bulb and that didn't fix it. Then I realized that I also had no tail lights. The reverse lights are good and the brake lights work too.
So far I have searched for and repaired suspicious splices done by PO, added a ground wire that was cut off from the trailer wiring harness, checked every fuse that I could with an ohmmeter and I pulled the multi function switch and tested it with an ohmmeter also. It tested fine but I did find one of the female pin connectors had pulled out of the harness. I managed to get it back in and seemed to click into place alright. Somewhere over the course of all that I now have both sides of my flashers fast and still no tail lights. Good news is that I haven't broken my brake lights or reverse lights yet.
Could I have a bad flasher relay? Earlier in the process I did have my 4 way flashers working correctly and a couple times I even had the turn signals going. Now, none of the rear blinking lights work but the front ones go 90 to nothing and I still have no tail lights. My truck does have the auto lamp thing.
I have a 2006 F150 xlt 5.4 3v. I've owned it since Oct. 15'. In approximately Nov. I lost the rear right brake and blinker light, and then around Christmas I lost the rear left brake and blinker. I also have no rear hazards, but the inst cluster flashes at a normal rate when the flashers are engaged. All running lights work, and 3rd brake light works. Front blinkers work and all other electrical works. Have checked all fuses and bulbs with no solution.

I googled the problem and did find one person with the same issue in a 2001 F150. There apparently was a recall (#05S28) of the SCDS (Speed Control Deactivation Switch) but that vehicle kept blowing fuse 13. My friend checked his fuses and they were all ok,

View 7 RepliesDad borrowed truck and wired 7 pin trailer harness. Lights worked on truck/trailer for use but upon return the turn signals didnt work. Hazards and running and brake lights did work. Replaced TS flasher and Haz flasher. Still no signals. Pulled steering wheel and replaced turn signal cam only, not whole switch. Now no brake lights, no rear hazards or turn signals. Losing my marbles trying to follow schematic and using test light and mulit meter. All bulbs and fuses are good. Running lights and head lights working as well.

(1) it keeps telling me I have a door ajar. the weird part is, if I turn the interior/dash lights off, it goes away, even after I turn them off and back on. Also, after doing that to get the message to go away, when I turn on my rear defrost, the message comes back on. I've sprayed the heck out every door with WD-40 to try and loosen a stuck switch.
(2) occasionally, when I turn on the rear heat, you can hear, what sounds like a relay, steadily clicking in the rear drivers side of the cargo area.
What either of the two issues might be?
2005 Jetta Gli 1.8t. It decided to do some funky things on me today. I has been running perfectly fine up until I went out for dinner.
When I came back to start her up. Everything worked except for: Radio, Low Beams (both) Fogs, windshield wipers/fluid, rear defrost button, turn signals (but hazards worked fine) and the fan for my heater.
What was working, oddly enough are the amber lights, tails and brake lights, all other lights including the high beam, but ONLY in the position when the stalk is pulled toward the driver. (Have to hold it to keep the high beams on).
It's not the battery because my car wouldn't have started at all if that was the case. It's not the alternator because I disconnected my battery and the car ran just fine and never died. I checked all the fuses of the things that went out but nothing seemed out of the ordinary and all of them seemed just fine.
Where to look next or what to do. I have no check engine lights, or any lights for that matter so I have nothing to scan.
I just bought an 05 F250 XLT. I noticed tonight that the rear turn signals and brake lights don't work.
The front turn signals work fine, although they flash fast. I know that usually means a light on its way out. neither taillight flashes though, which puzzles me.
My second issue is that, of the 3 brake lights, only the high mounted light illuminates when I hit the brakes.
