2010, 72,000 miles, regular dealer maintenance. After a stop, turning left, a "stuttering" can be felt like under the drivers seat location. Not all the time. No sound or other abnormalities. At first thought it to be a section of rough road surface, as I first noticed it at one particular corner.
View 3 RepliesI've got a problem that has the dealer stumped. 2010 Prius TWO with 67,000 miles. While gently braking in the final stages (<10mph) and turning, a ticking can be heard from the left front brake. It is a very fast ticking, and is proportional to speed. The frequency of the ticking is very fast, think of holding a pin into the cooling fins of the brake rotor.
I had it at the dealer last week. They had it for 2 days, with the service advisor, manager, and director all driving it and listening. They ended up replacing the wheel bearing. No luck unfortunately. They've had the entire brake assembly on the floor and reassembled, no change. Tightened all suspense links, no change.
The circumstances are:
- mild braking
-anything more than just a slight turn (maybe only to the right?)
-slower speeds (<10mph)
My 2005 ford freestyle (fwd) has a creaking noise when accelerating from stop and turning left but not when turning right. It's been there for a while. I had a problem where front left wheel felt loose. Replaced struts no change. Replaced left front wheel ball joint and fixed that awful feeling, but it still creaks.

View 1 RepliesI noticed that my ABS was engaging when I would slow down to a stop while turning left. I pulled the fuse for the ABS just to make sure that's what was causing the pulsating brake, and it was. Anyway, if it's an ABS sensor problem, would it be the front passenger side sensor if it's only happening when I turn left? Is there a way to test this. Would a scanner detect it? It hasn't been throwing a code or anything. Just the ABS engaging while braking and turning to the left when it shouldn't be.
View 6 RepliesI have an 08 RAV4 that has an issue when turning left and right and sometimes when taking off from a rolling stop. It seems that the body and engine want to move but the tires do not. I have taken the vehicle to 4 mechanics including dealership and everyone says the transmission is fine, axles and joints are supposed to be fine as well as drive train. I currently have about 25000 miles left on a warranty and don't want to lose the use of the warranty.
View 9 RepliesI am still getting used to my new Prius, just have a little over 700 miles on it. I recently noticed something very strange with the car - if I am in "Ready" with ICE off, and I put it in drive and release the brakes, but do not press the accelerator, the car will slowly move forward, just like a regular auto transmission. After about 1 second the speed will reach about 2 mph and I can feel a very small rumble in the cabin and a very light vibration on the steering wheel. It sounds like a very low frequency bass, and it lasts for less than a second.
It goes away and the car continues to accelerate up to about 5mph (the accelerator is still not pressed). This sound is almost unnoticeable, and it does not happen if I release the brake and immediately press the accelerator, it only happens while creeping forward very slowly. I was able to make this sound/vibration last longer by "riding" the breaks and keeping the speed around 1-2 mph, it is very faint and I have really listen to it. To me I believe it is caused by some resonance/harmonics in MG2 turning at extremely low RPM, at least it "feels" somewhat "electric"...
2007 F250 SD Crew Cab Long Bed 4X4 with 6.0. Bulletproofed, leveling springs, 5k firestone airbags, upgraded brakes, new front driveshaft and new universals and carrier bearing on rear u joint.
The issue: When accelerating from a stop or a slow rolling start, turning right or left, I get a shimmy (vibration) that seems to be coming from under my feet. Not a violent shimmy, but enough to make me certain that something is loose or out of alignment in the drivetrain. IT IS NOT THE REAR END as friends have constantly told me. Rear end was serviced and cluth packs lubricated with no change in issue.
What I've done: Changed transfer case fluid, new front driveshaft, new u joints and carrier bearing on rear driveshaft. There has been no improvement after these repairs, if anything the vibration is a little worse and easier to induce.
I've been chasing this problem for over a year. Going to be pulling a Toy Hauler out west this falls and really need to repair this for my piece of mind..
My 2015 Prius with 1,300 miles on it makes a rumble/grumble/moaning/groaning sound after I have come to a complete stop. It can be felt in/on the brake pedal. (Stop light, etc) It lasts for a few seconds then stops.This low rumble has me concerned. It has a slight vibration to it too. (again this is NOT while driving. Only once stopped and foot resting on the brake pedal) I can't confirm it has anything to do with the braking system but seems to come from the general area of the brake pedal and when foot is on the brake. So I assume it's the brake system.
I know about the typical brake servo actuator noise (which is completely normal and I am very familiar with) but thats a light unintrusive noise. Distinct from this low grown noise. (I know the difference) I hope I am correct in assuming the computer would detect if there's anything wrong and throw a light... but I'm new to Priuses. Is this a normal sound/vibration? I know these cars do a lot of electric things so if it's normal, I'll try to ignore it.
I have 2010 toyota corolla le japan made, some time I turning left I hear the knocking noise. I already change wheel bearing both side, the strut also both side, the passenger side axle replace the cv boot 2 time with regrease since 2012 jan and left side axle change the whole new axle since 2011 jan , my driver side outer tie are changed since 2014 nov, the mechanic look at the suspension that is not leaking on every suspension parts. so what could be the noise from. I guess may be is the passenger side axle or right outter tie rod , or internal tie rod or ball joint. could you tell me what would be the noise come from or how to check. I have 220k mile with bad burning oil like 1k mile drive have to add 5w20 half quar to 1 quar. how to solve to reduce burn oil and the engine seal is not leak.
View 19 RepliesI took a trip up to New Hampshire about a month ago and on the way back I noticed when turning left on the highways (Not fully turning but on like say an offramp) I would hear a thumping sound coming from the front left side tire. When I got back onto the island it was not as noticeable I guess mainly due to the fact that we don't really have offramps like up in New England that could replicate that sound.
However to make a long story short tonight I was backing up into my driveway and noticed that while turning the wheel I heard that same tapping noise coming from the same tire. It is hard to explain but it is definitely not from the brakes because it was making the sound while turning with no brakes applied. What this could be?
While I am driving my left headlight keeps turning off and to turn it back on I just have to flip the lights off then on again. I have a 2005 Prius with 160k miles. What part of my car is potentially broken and whether it is a feasible DIY project or not.
View 8 RepliesThere is a slight noise when turning left sometimes, its not to major, but out of curiosity I went to the mechanic and was they told me this needs replacing:
R& R AXLE SHAFT & CV JOINT - $195.00
R&R STABILIZER LINK BUSHING - $59.50
That was the labor, they did not have the part piece prices since they have to order them.
I noticed twice on the commute this morning that my vehicle made a long beep sound after completing a left turn. There were no other warning lights/messages on the dash. The first time, I thought it was something coming through over the radio, so I turned it off, and the sound continued, probably for a total of 6-7 seconds at least. It's similar to the beep that comes on if you start moving and the passenger is not wearing his/her seatbelt. The radio was totally off the rest of the way and it happened at the next left turn I made (when I got off the highway). Although it was icy this morning, it was not particularly slippery at the intersections when I made the turn and I did not notice the TCS coming on, etc.
View 10 RepliesWhenever I stop my T-Reg (like at a light, etc.) I feel a rumble and can see the RPMs take a quick dip below where the car normally idles (this happens just before the car has fully stopped). Pretty much I feel the rumble for about second and at the same time can see the RPMS rapidly dip. When the car has made its full stop the RPMs come back up and the car idles normally. Sometimes the dip is more drastic than others, but you can definitely feel a rumble or shudder. It almost feels like the rumble associated with a car getting ready to stall; except it never stalls. What is causing this?
View 5 RepliesI have a 03 Dakota 4x4 that is rumbling badly from the right front. The rumbling increases and gets louder steadily with speed, transfers slightly through the steering column, and goes away when turning right and taking the weight off the right front tire. It is also doing this when in 2WD. I have replaced the bearing hub assembly but that didnt fix it. I have also pulled out the CV axle, but am unable to tell if this is the problem. I'm also not finding any worn bushings or ball joints, or at least not enough wear to justify this horrid sound.
It is my understanding that a worn CV will produce a clicking noise when turning. I haven't noticed this at all, yet I can't imagine what other moving parts could be causing this rumbling. I have also taken a look at the spline on the differential, and other than the normal tiny bit of movement, it looks fine.
I have a 2009 Toyota Matrix. About 130,000 miles and bought used from a dealer at about 20,000 miles. Was probably sitting on lot several months I get a rumble like going over rumble strips as I am accelerating, most often between 40 and 50 miles an hour, but regularly when I am driving over a distance at about 175 on the RPM gauge. It does not happen when I am accelerating consistently through that range. When it happens I can accelerate through it to stop it or it stops if I let off the accelerator. Dealer can't figure it out. Have checked wheel balance. Told me they will figure it out when it gets worse - very useful. Said they could do a transmission fluid service but no promises. They do a repair that would fix it that didn't fix it. A friend has suggested tire rods may be failing. Been going on several months and I have learned to pretty much drive to avoid the rumble but still worried the entire drive train is going to fall off the car one day.
View 4 RepliesMy steering wheel has a squeak when turning either left or right slightly from center.. I usually notice the squeak while stationary or parking. It's louder and more noticeable when it's hot outside.
Listening carefully, it seems to be coming from inside the steering column, not from linkages or joints from under the car. Looking for a exploded diagram of the steering column components, perhaps it's just a U joint (tilt?) that needs some lubing to make it quiet.
I have a 2004 Pruis. Lately I have been noticing a problem with the cruise control. Often when I press the button to turn on the CC it will not come on, but if I turn the steering wheel to the left a bit I am able to turn on the cruise, sometimes when I turn the wheel back it will continue to work and other times it will not. I tried to search and found others posts about prius CC but couldn't find anything that included all of my symptoms.

Just this past week, I was riding with my husband driving, and when he downshifts into "B" gear and turns to the left, the triangle of death flashes on the screen, a loud beeping occurs, and on the top of the main info screen the word "Problem" appears. I want to make an appointment to take it to my dealer, but they aren't too sharp and might tell me I'm nuts. I'm not.
View 3 RepliesI have a used 2007 Prius (my dad owns it) that I've been driving for a little over two and a half years. I can't remember exactly when it started, but my car has this issue where, if I make a turn from a stop, it cuts out a few times. Like, if I'm sitting at an intersection waiting for the light or traffic to clear and step on the gas to turn, it'll go but lurch about 3 or 4 times in the process. It scares the heck outta me because I never know if I'm going have enough speed to make the turn without causing an accident, so I wind up waiting for completely clear lanes, which annoys the drivers behind me.
It happens randomly, there's no guarantee it'll happen every time. It's more frequent when turning right. I've told my dad about all this, but when he took it for service months ago, he said they said that it was normal (sounds fishy to me). So here I am now, the problem's still there, so I tell him and he decides to get new tires for the car. Those came, but they didn't fix it.
