Braking at a stoplight tonight, I had the VSC and ABS light come on. I pulled over to a parking lot and shut the car down. I couldn't tell any issues with the brakes at all in the short few hundred feet I drove to pull off. Turned it back on and the lights were no longer on.

View 12 RepliesThe noise is not the usual vibrate noise that happens.
The Noise: As I brake harder to the final stop I hear a grind/bump noise. It is hard to describe. It is abrupt and quick. I don't believe it affects the braking just annoying and doesnt sound normal.
I've been noticing that when I brake more responsively, I feel a bump/notch right before a complete stop. It feels like something that has to do with the transmission.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 town and country with 50k miles on it. It drove just fine, until I brought it to the dealer for the R03 recall on Friday, June 12th, 2015. Right after that, the engine sometimes shut off at the stop sign or red lights. Also, when I back from the parking, the car won't move forward after I shift from R to D - but it can still go backwards. It doesn't always act like that.
So I brought it back to the dealer. Their technician said it is unrelated to the recall, and after a week, they told me they couldn't find the exact reason, butsuggested me to replace the spark plugs and wires ($559.xx). Then we can start from there, which means I may need to replace other parts later on - as they weren't sure the exact cause.I don't like the idea of the first step - so I drove it home.
Supposedly, the R03 recall is to prevent the car from sudden shut-off. Is that just coincidence my car started to shut off right after the recall?
I also noticed that it is more likely to die if I brake harder - not 100% sure about this, maybe just illusion.
Did a test drive this morning(6/24). Shut off once out of 10 or so stop-signs. Did notice the RPM went down and up a little (-just a little) at idle.
My '10 is just over 2 years old now and virtually trouble-free. But since new, I have a noticeable turbine/whining sound slowing to a stop esp while braking from 20mph to a stop. I wrote it off to the motor generator and brake regeneration - hybrid sounds. All fine and well. But I have ridden in two other '10s in the last year and they both seem to make less sounds while decelerating and braking than mine. Is it my imagination or is there something to it? I'd rather not blindly bring it to the Dealer as I'm sure it would get a "normal operation" finding.
1. Is there a TSB out on this by chance?
2. My 3/36 warranty will be up in 10 months. Is there a master TSB listing available on PChat or elsewhere (for free) to check on open G3 Prius TSBs?
I have noticed, in my 2012 Elantra with 32,000 miles on it, that my car is shaking at idle. I'll be at a red light or stop sign and the vibration is SUPER annoying. I have had it tested at a Hyundai Dealership. They couldn't "replicate the problem" and nothing it wrong with my car.
I may be trading this car in for the Veloster Turbo. I'm tired of how slow this car is. I know I sacrificed speed for gas mileage, but I have a question, does the Veloster have this problem as well?
On my way into work this morning I noticed that my brake lights don't always light up under very light braking. Noticed this on 2010?

View 2 RepliesWe have a 2006 Prius that has never given me a bit of trouble the last 24 months or ownership. My wife was driving a few weeks ago and had multiple dash lights come on while stopped at a red light but the car was still acting fine. Light turned green she drove a couple miles at about 45-55mph to the gas station, shut her down, came back and everything returned to normal. Today it happened again but this time she got a picture of the lights that was on. SEE ATTACHMENT BELOW. the TPMS is always on by the way.
View 8 Replies2007 Sonata 3.3. Crunching, clunking noise at low speeds, braking or accelerating away from stop lights. Noise disappears at speeds over 25-30 mph. Noise can be replicated by rocking car forward and backward while in park, with engine turned off. Rocking side to side does not reproduce noise. Bouncing car suspension at all four corners does not reproduce noise. Hood open, rocking forward and backwards, noise seems to be coming from behind engine, and with hand on engine motion can be felt. I'm thinking engine mount, but how can I get a good look at it to check?

I noticed that when I turn the car OFF , the master warning sign (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark) and a message in Japanese (which I cannot read) appear for a few seconds. I don't see the warning when switching the car ON, or while driving. I experienced this frequently when switching the power OFF. Why this happens?
View 3 RepliesEver since we got our 2012 GX, we hear a hissing noise whenever we brake to a stop. Does yours do this? Turn the radio off, and brake at a stop sign...do you hear it? The dealer didnt know what it was. We took another GX off the new car lot and it did the same thing. It sounds like air releasing when you brake.
View 14 RepliesIts been pretty cold up here and lately i find my car making a creaking sound when i brake coming to complete stop. I talked to a couple other guys in a Hyundai chat, and they said it was the Elantra frame in the cold.
Just wanted to get some others input, anything I can tighten up to make it go away, or bushings?? I am almost positive its not the brakes because i had them checked just before my winter tires went on.
My traction control light comes on sporadically when I am stopped at a light. Roads are dry and I have not hit anything. What is going on?

View 19 RepliesI have a 2007 camry LE with 60,000 miles. About 600 miles prior to the next due oil change, I started seeing a flashing oil pan sign on the left corner of the dashboard while braking (only while braking).
I did not figure out the reason and might have run another 100 miles before taken to the dealer. Dealer found no oil on dipstick. He says the engine might be burning oil and I might end up spending few thousand dollars in that case. He gave me a list of things to do for $1200 unrelated to the incident (break pads etc). I declined and got the oil changed.
He asked me to bring the car back in after 500 miles to check if the oil stays. There has been no leak. Now I have driven 150 miles and the maintenance required sign comes up. I have three questions:
(1) Can this maintenance required sign be related to the incident or related to the regular oil change schedule
(2) Could I have damaged my engine? If so, how to find out
(3) Why could the engine oil run out before the next scheduled maintenance?
Is it possible the technician might have not filled it up? (yesterday I checked the oil level (after 150 miles) and the level is well above the max needed).
I recently picked up an 05 that now has about 101k miles on it. When coming to a stop if I put my foot on the brake and hold a steady pressure the car increases the braking pressure drastically once it's under 10 mph and the car jerks you forward unless you let off of the brake. I know its because its going from using the regen to using 100% disc pressure so what can I do to fix it?
View 9 RepliesI bought my 2004 Prius back in October at a used Honda dealership. A couple of weeks after I bought it I was driving, had been driving for over 2 hours and made a stop. When I left from the stop and tried to stop at a stop sign, my "abs" and "vsc" lights came on and my brakes would not work for more than 5 seconds at a time. I could push them and it would slow down but then it was like my foot left the pedal and the brakes went out.
I pulled over and had the dealership come tow it to their shop and I left it there for a day. They called me to come get it, so I picked it up, and they never charged me anything so I assumed it was all under warranty or something. Now almost 7 months later I am having the same exact problem. I called the dealership to see what they did to fix it last time and they said there was no record that anything had been done to it, that they think it just started up fine with no problems when they tried.
