When to change the air filter for ICE? 10,000 mile? Does the Gen III need to change the transaxle fluid? if so, what is the service interval? I am putting a lot of miles on my new Prius. Really want it to serve a long time.
View 16 RepliesSeems like since I did the first oil filter change it seemed very hard to get off oil filter. Today I did about the 5th filter change and it was harder than the last time. Thought i was going to break something. I do snug it up so there is no gap between the engine block and top of filter canister. Should I back it off a turn or 2 and check for leaks, maybe that is what that retainer clip is for near the top of the filter canister to stop it from coming undone so you don't have to snug it up?

For the past couple of months since having my air filter changed at Jiffy Lube the air conditioner won't come on and there's a message on the screen that says to check the air conditioner connection. I took it to Lexus to check and they only gave me an estimate of charges for $384, but no explanation of the problem. What might be wrong and the cost to repair?

BTW walbro in line fuel pump.. vagom no faults .. + did not get this before with stock airbox with turbo set up..
I have a 2000 v6 Tacoma.Three days ago I could only get it up to 60mph. Then it started running fine.I drove it about 100 miles an no problem I drove it a litte the next day with no problem.The third day I could only go about 40 mph.I changed the fuel filter and it ran fine. I went out to start it and it would not start. It has spark. I also unhooked the fuel line and it shot gas every where. Hook the gas line back up and nothing. It will turn over and not start.

View 6 RepliesI changed my cabin filter on my 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and now there is a humming noise when AC or Fan is turned on. The noise increases and decreases with fan speed. I tried putting the old cabin filter back in to see if the new one was loose or defective, but the humming noise was still there. I also made sure airflow arrow was pointing downward. Could it be that a leaf or something fell off of the filter and is now in the blower. How do I check the blower?
View 2 RepliesI recently bought a 2006 Hyundai Sonata 3.3 V6. Had another issue related to the rear wheel, which I fixed. Today, I changed the oil filter on the car (along with the oil). I have heard this engine noise before, but with the cover off it appears a little louder. It's basically a ticking sound.
The engine uses no oil, and has no other leaks. It has some noise on startup for maybe 1-2 seconds (like a loud lifter or something, but it goes away in less than 2 seconds, and at the same time the oil light goes out). I changed the filter today because I was told that a leaky gasket could result in the Filter not retaining oil between starts, causes some minor knock for a few seconds.
But anyway, this other ticking noise seems to be regular, regardless of condition. I have heard some people say that some engine noise is normal for this engine, but how about this?
My 1990 Toyota 4runner won't stay running after I changed the air filter. Starts up for couple sec then dies. It ran the same morning then had problem after changing filter.

View 7 RepliesAfter replacing the cabin air filter I heard a loud noise from the fan area in the car. I rechecked the installation which was ok. I then reached down into the fan assembly, and there was the problem, some leaves had fallen into the fan when I removed the old filter. Took out the leaves , and all is well.
I replaced the OEM filter with a Fram Fresh Breeze filter which interesting enough only had half as many folds. I figure a big company like Fram must know what they are doing?

View 6 Replies2002 E-250 with the 4.6 V-6. Pulled the 30 amp fuse, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the fuse, now the truck wont start. Checked the fuse and the kill switch under the passenger kick cover, all ok. Cranks and cranks but wont fire. No problem prior to changing the filter. Even swithed out the relay with another, no luck.

View 2 RepliesDid my own 30k oil filter change today after taking it to the dealership for 10k and 20k. What do you know, they over torqued the crap out of the filter that I had to use my 1/2" breaker bar and all my strength to remove it. After all of that somehow the oil filter tool (the typical one) ended up getting stuck to the oil filter cap. It was at a slight angle so it must have shifted as I was trying to loosen it with the breaker bar.
Well, spent the next hour trying to separate them with no luck. Didn't want to damage the filter housing, and since the tool was stuck on there good just decided to put it back on with the tool attached. Any concerns about leaving it on, other than it randomly falling off one day?
Hopefully I'll still find the tool attached next time I change my oil, maybe pick up an extra oil filter cap and tool just in case. Btw I changed it myself at 5k before doing the free changes at dealership. Another reason I won't let them touch my car again...
I have recently allowed my XM to lapse on my standard stereo in my GLS. My question is, when I turn on my stereo, it always defaults to XM. It there any way to get the stereo to default to something like Bluetooth/media input? I have been using my phone for music.
