Prius (Gen 2) :: 2007 - Smart Key With New Battery Not Working

Aug 31, 2012

I have a 2007 Prius 2, the key will not open the doors, so I went to the store replaced the remote battery but it is still not working. The light on the remote lights up as usual. I can get in using the small metal key, the car starts and everything seem to be working fine with the smart key plugged in. The 12v battery seems to be fine as all the lights work when the car is off. What this might be?

Prius (2004-09) :: Smart Key Quit Working After Replaced Battery

I am not sure if I need a new fob.

My smart key quit working. I have replaced the battery, and checked the button under the steering wheel. The little red light on the fob does not blink or light up when I push it. I think I recall this light coming on when a button is pushed.

Prius (2004-09) :: Smart Key Stopped Working After Replacing 12 Volt Battery

A purchased a new 12 volt battery at the dealer. I was getting weird warning lights, so I had them run diagnostics. They said all the codes were voltage and I needed a new battery. Shortly after this I noticed the Smart Key no longer opened and closed the doors.
The car starts ok.

My question is this, could the changing of the battery have caused this? I tried searching for the answer BUT all answers refereed to adding a new smart key purchased on Ebay.

Camry 2012+ :: Smart Key Push Start Stopped Working - Indicated Dead Battery

We just got our 2012 Camry XLE about 1 month ago. Today, the smart key push start didn't work; the brake pedal seemed like it was seized, but the green (key) light did manage to come on, indicating it knew the key was there. When I pressed the start, all of the dash lights were flickering, but the car wouldn't start. Was towed to the dealer, who ran a diagnostic that indicated the battery had failed (the options for the diagnostic are pass, charge, and fail). They installed a new battery and it seems fine.

One of the doors wasn't completely closed overnight - would this have caused the battery to be done? I could see if it caused the battery to drain, requiring a boost / charge.

Prius (2004-09) :: Smart Key Working On Doors But Engine Won't Turn On

I have a 2007 Prius. Last night, my neighbor said he thought he heard my car alarm going off. I used my car fob to turn the alarm on then off to ask him if that's what he'd heard, and it wasn't. Seems he mistook someone else's car for mine.

Today, I find my car's smart key functionality is limited. I can keep the keys in my pocket and still unlock and lock the doors, but the engine won't turn on, instead displaying the key symbol on the dashboard; I need to insert the fob into the slot instead. None of the buttons (lock, unlock, alarm) on the fob work. The smart key button under the wheel is protruding, as I believe it should.

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2007 - Smart Key No Longer Works With Car / Unregistered

I had my car serviced a few weeks ago and realized that one of my Smart Keys (the one I was using when I drove to the dealership) no longer works with the car. It won't unlock the doors or start the car (neither wirelessly nor when plugged in to the dash). The other fob works fine. Are there any scenarios where a Smart Key fob gets rejected from the system?

Camry :: 2007 TCH Smart Key Is Not Detected

Today I locked my Camry by pressing the button on the outside door handle and it worked perfectly. About an hour later, I tried opening the door and it wouldn't unlock. I took my door key out of the smart key fob and unlocked the doors manually. I then tried to start the car and got the message "Key Is Not Detected". I held the smart key infront of the push button start and waited for it to beep, then started the car. The message center displayed "Key Is Not Detected" the entire time I was driving.

I figured that the battery was dead in the smart key, so I stopped by Radio Shack and bought a new battery, replaced it, and tried to use it to unlock and start the car. Same thing happened again. I drove home, once again, with the message "Key Is Not Detected" the whole way home. When I got home, I went inside and got my second smart key. I tried to use it on the car, and the exact same thing happened. I have done research, and I haven't been able to find any answers as to what could be causing this issue. I can't even lock or unlock the car by pressing the buttons on either of the smart key remotes. It's a 2007 Camry Hybrid with every option available and 114,000 miles on it.

Prius (2010-12) :: Gen 3 Smart Key On / Off

I don't drive a lot so on my 2008 Prius I could turn the smart key on/off with a button below the steering column and it keeps the system from constantly searching for the signal. That stop some of the drain on the 12 volt battery. My new 2013 Prius 3 doesn't have that button. Is there a way to turn the smart key system on/off easily?

Prius (Gen 2) :: 2004 Smart Key Acting Really Quirky?

recently the remote locking buttons have been acting weird. The locking system itself may be to blame but let me elaborate. Lately I've been trying to lock the car with the remote, but sometimes it will beep once, lock the car, then immediately unlock it. This will repeat if I try it over again. If the car is locked, the remote at times will not unlock the car and twice I've had to manually unlock it.

Prius V :: Won't Recognize Smart Key After Filling Gas Tank

The last several times I've gone for gas, the car won't recognize the smart key after fill up, either in or out of the slot. It does not recognize either of my 2 smart keys. I have changed the batteries in both keys. I am able to lock/unlock doors, but not start the car. The red light on the dash indicates there is no key. Dealer cannot find the problem. Eventually the car does start after some time (5 to 20 minutes) and I have not been able to identify what changes to make it so.
