Just purchased car with 144k Screen was there two days go, after starting today, consumption display was not there. Main Intro Hybrid display comes on and other things.
View 1 RepliesI have a "new to me" 2009 Touring that I purchased on 9/2/10. She had approximately 35K miles on her and an Average MPG of 39.6. While I have managed to increase that average up to 41.7, I'm tired of looking at the results of the previous owner's bad habits.
I have hit the Reset button on the Consumption screen several times, but the only thing resetting is the number of miles driven. I have reset both the Trip A and Trip B Odometers, again the only change is the trip odometer reading, NOT the Average MPGs.
This is making me a little crazy as my previous car was a 2004 Prius and the Average MPGs AND miles driven automatically reset any time I filled up with fuel.
I am trying to figure out how to turn on this display for the odometer. Surely this wasn't designed to only show avg consumption for trips right?
View 12 RepliesI kept a record of every drop of fuel used in my 2008 Gen II Prius. It was easy with only two simple screens: Energy and Consumption. After writing down the numbers I reset the Consumption screen at every fill up. I entered these into a spreadsheet that did a bunch of calculations telling me all kinds of interesting things.
Now to my new 2014 Prius v Two. I'm confused regarding all the new information available. (A good thing) Which screen and number am I looking for that is equivalent to the Miles and cumulative MPG on the old Gen II?
Would like to sort this out before my first fill on the new car.
Just bought a 2012 Prius Three last Friday. The MFD (upper display) shows an average of about 53 mpg so far, and the corresponding 1 & 5 min bars seem to make sense (we have an 07 TCH so we're reasonably familiar).
But the Display Audio unit (6.1 inch) Car>Consumption graph seems to show 100mpg most of the time/most bars. That can't be right and it looks nothing like the MFD display. What am I missing?
Just bought a used 2010 prius II about 2 weeks ago with 10000 miles on it. As I've been driving I feel the consumption display is misleading. It averages around 52-53 mpg, but I'm only getting about 480 miles before I'm running on empty. The tank capacity is 12 gallons right? If so I should be getting at least low-mid 500's before I need to fill up again. Hopefully I'm calculating something wrong and its not the car itself.

View 19 RepliesI bought a 2006 Certified used Prius a month ago and it was rear ended 2 weeks ago (uninsured motorist couldn't be more pissed) Well since the wreck the MFD screen has been skipping bars in the consumption category. It will just leave a whole space blank. Everything else it working fine. We took it to Toyota to figure out what was going on and they are saying that everything mechanical and electrical with the car is fine. They said the only thing they can think is that the MFD screen is having issues after the wreck.
View 8 RepliesStarted about a month ago, no speedometer or fuel gauge (the display up on the dash). So, somewhere I found out about unplugging the 12v battery and that worked...for a while! After a few times doing that, I read somewhere that it is a sign that the 12v battery is going. So, I took it in to the local auto parts store, they tested it and said it was good.
I bought one anyhow since it was about 3-1/2 years old. That worked for about 2 weeks, but now it's back! I've unplugged the battery and again it has ( temporarily ) fixed this issue. The other thing that happens is that it is difficult to turn off and requires you to hold the power button for an extended period of time. I guess part of my problem is I am not sure what to call that display and my searches are coming up with all sorts of things. I have about 160,000 and have had no problems.
My 06 lexus gs 300 has about 155000 miles on it and still running strong. Its been very reliable but my concern is has anyone ever had their GS use a lot of oil? It seems like my GS is using a lot of oil. I checked under the hood and car and there are no leaks at all. Also I use 5w 30 penzoil and i change my oil every 3000 miles. Also are brakes easy to change on this car?

View 4 RepliesNot the usual. I stopped on my way home to get gas tonight when the gauge was showing one pip. Naturally it wasn't low, but I'm used to that.
The odd thing is that after I got in the car and turned it back on the gauge stayed at one pip and the fuel display on the multi-function display didn't reset.
My stepmother has a 2006 Ford Freestyle AWD with a 3.0L Volvo engine. It seems to be consuming a great deal of oil. (Definitely not leaking it.) But not on a regular basis.... Within a couple weeks of changing the oil this time, it has consumed nearly 2 quarts! Other times it hardly uses any. This has been going on for a couple years now. She has taken it to the dealership numerous times and they cannot seem to find the issue. It doesn't have a "burnt" smell when I pull the dipstick either. The mileage is low as she hardly drives the car. (Under 80,000 miles) I've looked online and can't seem to find this problem elsewhere.

View 5 RepliesI own a 2006 Nissan Altima with about 90500 miles on it. Recently i took it in for service and to fix a problem where the car was making this metallic sound while driving. The mechanic discovered that the sound was caused by a low engine oil level causing the timing belt tension to lose pressure and make the sound.
The mechanic also found a Nissan Service Recall/Campaign (NTB06-082) related to Engine Oil Consumption where the following occurs: "extremely low engine oil level resulting from higher than normal engine oil consumption due to a manufacturing problem in some engines". NTB06-082 states that the first thing the dealer should do if the recall applies is reprogrammed the ECU followed by doing an engine oil check.
What steps I should follow to get the Nissan Dealership to take a look at this particular issue? I imagine that it's going to be hard convincing them that the NTB06-082 may apply to my vehicle.
Prius start consuming excessive engine oil.
View 5 RepliesI changed the throttle body , PCV , clean the EGR tube and put new gasket in my Prius B 2010 hybrid.
The car was burn oil 1/2 liter per 1500km and since I changed the throttle body I noticed that the car burn 1/2 liter per 400 km .The job by the dealer.
Is there any problem in the installation?
How do I turn the "fuel consumption comparison" off? I want to see only the quantity and price off the gasoline I have consumed.
There isn't a "disable" feature, so I am guessing I set it to 0 mpg?
I have a 2005 Toyota Prius with 209,800 miles on it. Just had an oil change a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that oil change, and even a couple of months prior, my husband and I began noticing that we are frequently adding oil every 4 to 5 days. I find that to be unusual however, given the age of the vehicle.
