Until about a week ago, when I turned my headlights on, the icon (light bulb) appeared on the dash. Out of the blue, it doesn't. Any clue why? (High beam icon still appears).
View 4 RepliesWhen I turn on the headlights of my 2010 the dash backlight dims considerably. It becomes difficult to see/read when the sun hits it just right...especially wearing polarized sunglasses. I have the dimmer switch set all the way high. Is there a way to increase the backlighting or have it not dim as much with the headlights on?
View 8 RepliesI just got my new 2012 Prius (package 3). When I turn on the headlights (2 clicks), no icon shows up on the dash (unlike my 2006 Prius). I thought this was weird but ok. When I switched to the brights for the first time, the headlights icon came on with the brights icon! I was wondering if this is still normal (no icon for headlights up to 2 clicks, 3rd click for brights turns on headlights and brights icons), or if I need to make a trip in to get that looked at?
View 2 RepliesThe cruise control and the overdrive off dash lights go out when I turn on the headlights. The cruse control and overdrive still work but the dash lights are not lit. It is a 95 4door explorer.
View 1 RepliesI got a check eng light and read the codes. Cam sensor, misfire 5 & 8. Replaced cam sensor. Got light twice more. Cam sensor. Cleared codes, now no light but, I lost bottom & mid range HP at a steady decline. Run like a scalded dog on top end. Replaced fuel filter on frame rail & air filter. No cure. Noticed dash dim when headlights turned on. Pulled pos battery cable engine died. Replaced alt old one tested good. Drove to parking spot no power damn near couldn't pull it self. Turned off wouldn't start. Before I turned off it would rev up perfect just no power to move. Had a camed up sound at an idle like a slight miss. No fault codes present. Ford claims crank sensor. Haven't replaced that yet. Have fuel in fuel rails. 10 coils could not have lost spark at once. Any part other than crank sensor?
View 14 RepliesI have been having some hybrid battery issues. My prius is a 2006 with 198,000 miles. The original battery was replaced at around 120,000 with a junkyard battery. About a year later that battery gave up the ghost and I decided to rebuild that battery. So far that has worked quite well until recently.
My troubles started a couple weeks ago when I got the Red triangle and all the dash lights and the hybrid system icon on the MFD. Naturally I thought it was the battery again. Took it out and checked the voltages of the modules. All the modules where within tolerances. I grabbed a OBDII scanner and checked the code. It was telling me that the Hybrid current sensor was bad. I changed that out with the wiring harness from the old battery.
That lasted for a few days before the red triangle came back. I checked the code and it was indicating one of the blocks was bad. I think P3019. So I took the battery back out and replaced that block with other modules. Almost instantaneously the red triangle came back with two more bad blocks. I think it was P3012 and P3022. So I took the battery out once more and tested all the voltages of all the modules. Everything was 7.86-7.9v. So I decided to start the rebalance of the existing modules in hopes to find some bad modules.
I also bought a new 12v battery and installed that. I got everything back together and took it for a road test. It took about 30 mins before the triangle came back. I grabbed the codes and it was still indicating bad blocks. P3011 and P3018. I am a little at a loss.
My car Gen.2 was 200K. I change the water pump and thermostat on 150K. The reason to change the parts because I think my car a lot of miles. The car run great no problems. Till last month my car had overheat on freeway at night time. The temperature up to 245 F have the red triangle on dash and thermometer icon on Navigation screen. Before overheat on same day on the daytime when I take off I heard sound water running in the engine. The day after I check the level coolant in the reservoir tank was full but in the radiator need to fill up the coolant. After that when I drove the car the coolant overflow form the reservoir all the time. I have to check and fill up the coolant in the radiator every morning. I been the many shop ask them about the symptom of my car. Some they told me water pump failure, some said thermostat failure open all the time or some told me head gasket leak. I check all the engine didn't see any leak but I saw coolant overflow from reservoir...

View 2 RepliesJust bought this as a daily driver. This being my first truck and USED with over 100k in miles, I got it at a deal, but I am worried it might be a lemon. The engine is giving off 8 codes (listed below) that I pulled off my obd2 wifi scanner. This morning was a failure to start with all lights appearing on the dash. There is allot of accumulation around the terminals on the battery as well but the scanner read nothing about a faulty charge. I am trying to have my truck working soon so I can stop asking for rides ... broke down (5.4L triton straight piped )...

Anytime I turn the headlights on, the high beams go on too; I cannot switch off the high beams unless I turn off the headlights entirely (I have been driving with the low beams on during the day for the 5 years I have had the car)
I can find no reason for this; I'm inspecting the fuses (with little expectation). The only thing I can think of is the control switch or wiring. I have standard headlamps, not hid.
I have recently purchased this 2012 Gen 3 Prius JDM imported from Japan. It is with LED parking lights and HID low beam. At day there is no issue with lights Off, even no issue on parking lights On but as soon as the headlights are turned On i get the fault indicator and some warning in Japanese language on inner screen. Apparently, all lights, on the other hand, are working fine.
When i took the car to repair shop, they installed the diagnostic computer and it showed B2430 and B2431, LED headlight RH and LH, whereas my model is with HID headlights, not LED headlights. At day its ok, i get normal info on inner info screen but at night this error triangle and error message keeps showing instead of normal info and is a cause of fear for me as well because i dont know how serious it may become.
If I'm using Bluetooth to listen to music and my headlights are on when I switch the headlights off to just parking and the daytime running lights the navigation/radio shuts off the music and goes to the off screen. At first I thought it was just a fluke, but then several more times I tried it and every time it turns off.
View 2 RepliesSitting in my living room I noticed that suddenly my headlights on my 97 Subaru ob turned on. First thought was someone was stealing my pos. Knife in hand I went to investigate. No one there. The keys were in the car, in the off position. The headlights all of a sudden turned off. I noticed that the dash lights were flickering on and off. I removed the keys yet the dash lights remained on. Not wanting my battery drained I disconnected the positive cable, which obviously corrected the issue for the time being. When I was disconnecting the battery I heard a mechanical whirring noise coming from the passenger side of the car just behind the headlight. Have never heard this noise before. NOT the intake fan or the AC. Did not investigate extensively due to darkness, wind and rain.

I can replicate 100% of the time. It is getting dark earlier now - and my wife will not drive it anymore to work (35 miles) without the cruise control working.
This morning, I found out that my Camry 2012's backup light did not turn on. When I changed the tranmission shift, there no any letters like D, P, or R appear on the meter panel. Moreover, on the panel, the check engine and slip indicator icon lights turned on. How to fix this problem. I already installed the aftermarket backup camera, and it doesn't work also
View 9 RepliesI just had a set on HID'S installed in my van but after they were installed i have the burnt out light icon on my dash staying on now is there a way to either pull a fuse to disable it or should i just ignore it and throw a piece on tape over it

With my B6 '09 wagon, when I turn off ESP by pressing the console button, the icon flashes on the dash display and then goes out. Is this working correctly? I would think it would flash when ESP is on and it has encountered slipping and corrected. With the button set to off, I would think the light would stay lit on the dash?

View 2 RepliesWe have noticed something strange with the dash in our new 2012 Prius. While driving at dusk and turning the headlights on the dash readout can go completely dark. Leaving only the gear selection indicator visible. This can be completely disorienting and dangerous. This happens if the dimmer wheel is set in the lowest position. It will turn back on if the dimmer wheel is moved up from the lowest setting.
I can recreate the issue parked by simply having the headlights on and dimming the switch all the way down. It will shut off the speedometer, MPGmeter, and Hyrbrid indicator screens.
Key icon on dash at times = low fob battery? No low battery warning print lit up. Also so happened a couple times on my GS.
