I just bought a ceritifed pre-owned 2010 RX 450h. I love it, but a couple of questions as I get to know the car.
1) The rain sensor seems to not work. I set the wipers to what on another car would be "intermittent" but the wipers never come on. Am I missing something, am I a dummy? Or should I just get the dealer to replace the sensor?

View 5 RepliesI called the only Toyata dealership nearby repeatedly and asked them if they would disable the seatbelt chime, as per the instructions in my car's manual, but they denied knowledge about this.
This morning I decided to cut the two wires to my seatbelt and wrap them with electrical tape. This solved the problem with the seatbelt chime but introduced another problem: I now have an icon on my display that looks like a driver with an airbag, which I assume means that my airbag has been disabled. How can I manually turn the airbag back on?
Is there a way to turn off the overzealous seatbelt alarm? It chimes constantly when the seatbelt isn't on, even when the car is in park. Sometimes I unbuckle my seatbelt to get my crap together before I get out of the car, but its hot here so I like to leave the AC running while get set. I know some cars have some obscure series of button presses to turn this off. Also is there a way to stop the horn from honking when I press the lock button on the remote?

Tonight on the way home, driving in light traffic, roughly 45-50mph seatbelt light came on and began to chime. I was wearing my seatbelt at the time, and had nothing in the passenger seat. When approaching a stoplight, the light went out and the chime stopped upon braking. I am going to take it in tomorrow to have it checked, but am assuming the dealer will find nothing. I looked under the dr. seat and there wasn't anything that could have pulled on the wiring.
So again, briefly:
During light traffic with seat belt buckled properly, seat belt light illuminates and chime starts. Upon braking for stop light the seatbelt light went out and chime stopped.
This is kind of a big deal to me because this is my wife's primary vehicle and the airbag will not work with the seatbelt light illuminated.
My 2006 Camry's airbag light has been on ever since I gave my cousin a ride. The passenger seatbelt chime no longer works after that ride, nor does the indicator saying there is a passenger in the seat.

View 1 RepliesMy 09 Matrix passenger seatbelt/Airbag Alarm light started to come off intermittently a few months ago. It often came off in a cold morning (when temperature dropps below 40F) after driving for 30+miles. I have taken it to a mechanics and they found an airbag code. They cleared the code but cannot find the root cause. I saw from some online forum that it happened to a lot 05 Matrix and repair involves replacing the clock assembly eventually. It seems to be odd since it only happened to me when it is cold and after some driving. I suspect that it has something to do with the battery since the battery output voltage may be the only thing I can think of that can be temperature dependant.
View 5 RepliesFirst week or so, the alarm was fine. It would go off if the passenger didn't have their belt on. Suddenly, it wouldn't shut off, even after the passenger put their seatbelt on. We went through the procedure to just disable it. It worked for a couple days.
Then it started going off again. It only happens if I have a passenger in the front seat. (I have two children in the back but they are in carseats and if it is just them and I, we have no problems, but if my husband is in the passenger seat - we have problems).
We went through the procedure to disable it and it didn't work this time. After more reading I realized the same procedure to disable it, enables it, too - sooo we did it a 3rd time to disable it, again. It worked.
Same trip, we got back in the car -everyone is buckled up and IT GOES OFF AGAIN!! I just want it disabled, period. It drives me crazy.
(It will stop dinging about 10 minutes into the drive but most my trips are under 10 minutes so that means all the time)
How do I turn off the backup beeper? The internal beeper is not necessary when I selected reverse.
