After you turn off the engine,there's a noise coming under the driver side of the car and it stops after 10 seconds,did may be a small Japanese assembly worker got stuck under there or something.
View 1 Replies2005 V8 TREG 74,000 miles ... Just last week.... My T-reg started to hear this knocking noise which seems to come from the engine on the driver side... I would say lifter sound but hoping that's not the issue. I do notice that when i start the car, no noise but when driven on the highway... I hear it especially when i come off the highway. On regular street drives, it takes a while for the noise to come up. I've had the Treg for about a year now and havent had any problems but this. I drive the car during the weekends and sometimes during the week.
View 2 RepliesI've had this weird noise coming from the driver side front (i'm guessing inside the engine bay) for the past month now. It started ever since hitting a bad pothole that wasn't avoidable and couldn't see very well during one of the nasty winter storms we got here in PA. Ever since the steering has felt off, like just not all there anymore. Over the smallest of bumps it makes this noise. Extremely aggravating for me since I try to take great care of the car and keep everything tight and new feeling. Since I don't know how to work on newer cars (only mk3 and lower) I have no clue what to do to check... I've had it at the dealership a few times to report the noise, 2 of the times they just took it for a drive around the area and back and each time the tech said he didn't hear a noise (of course).

Also recently noticed that only coming from the same side, the shock over big bumps makes squishy noises, as if it were blown or something...
People have suggested that it could be the sway bar, tie rods, end links, bushings, anything. I personally think it's the strut tower bushing or bearing, but again, I'm not much of a newer car mechanic.

I have a 2012 and just passed 14,500 miles.
I was driving home recently and heard a flapping type noise on the drivers side and thought something was stuck in my undercarriage or even in my tire and the wind was causing it to flap. I pulled over to check, saw nothing, so I kept driving home and stopped into my local Toyota and they didn't see anything loose or out of place. We went on a test drive and of course, there was no noise.
Later that night as I was driving, it started in the middle of my drive, I parked and when I drove again, no noise and I haven't heard it since; this was 3 days ago. I thought it was just at highway speeds, but I've heard it at different speeds.
I just purchased 2009 Prius in June. I mentioned to Toyota that there was a noise coming from the driver side...perhaps the brake area. We test drove car again another day...no noise. I bought the car. Now the noise doesn't stop. And they say there is nothing to fix. It's part of a hybrid.
To clarify...I am not speaking of the noise when it shifts from battery to engine. Not that. It seems to be coming from the brake/accelerator area. But now someone mentioned to check out the stability safety-steering system.
It is gone at 120K. Thought it could be the tire, so rotated but noise still comes from driver side rear. Car is a daily driver but we do not live in snow belt, so cannot blame it on salt.
View 8 RepliesRecently when I first start my car in the morning, there is a rattling noise, which sounds like it's coming from the driver's side of the engine bay, or possibly just under the drivers side door. It only lasts for a couple of minutes. It will increase I accelerate, and then decrease as soon as I lift off the gas. After a couple minutes, the rattling goes away, and everything is right in the world. Today I drove it around the block and parked while it was still rattling away. When I put it in park the rattling went away. I put it back in drive and it came back. Then as usual it finally went away whether in drive or park. I'm completely stumped on this one. It's an '08 2.4l GLS and has 138,000 miles.
View 9 RepliesI've had some awful noise coming from the front drivers side of my car. Determining the likly cause to be the wheel bearing, I decided to tackle replacing the hub assembly as a lovely weekend project. Things were going along ok - Removed brake caliper, removed the axle nut (that wasn't fun), removed the rotor (rather persistently stuck on, but it gave in the end), and then came removing the hub assembly itself. Had a rented hub puller, put it on, started tightening it down and tapping on the hub as I went. It was getting pretty tight on there (was starting to worry about the safety of the cv shaft), and then as I tapped on the hub one last time, the hub and hub puller popped off the car... I was elated, until I realized rather than pulling the entire hub assembly out, it had actually separated the inner track of the bearing from the outer track, leaving the wheel bearing and flange behind inside the steering knuckle.
So, here I sit, with half my hub assembly on the ground and the other half still in the car. How to get the rest of the hub assembly out, now that there is nothing to really pull on? I've tapped around on it for a couple hours, and soaked it in enough penetrating oil to make the car flamable, but no give. I've even tried putting the hub bolts back in through the back and tapping on them with a hammer to no avail (probably going to have to replace the bolts now, but one problem at a time).
So I have a ticking sound that has me puzzled. I thought it could be coming from the drivers side of the engine. This weekend, actually on Monday I decided to do the hot re-torque on the diver side. I warm up the engine for about 15min and have at it. I had put this off for weeks because it has been way too hot. Dam it was still too hot, I was sweating buckets. I had to stop several times to clear the sweat off my head my eyes my shades .I torqued everything to spec and nothing moved.
I went to 125 inch lbs and I got movement on the rear two injectors. I gave them about 1/2 a turn and stopped. I put everything back together, I used hair spray form the 99 ct store. It seemed OK. Fast forward to Tue. I needed to be sure so I went for the boost leak test. Here is my concern. I was going to test to about 30 PSIG, but I ended up at about 40 psig and I forgot to disconnect the MAP sensor! How likely is it that I damaged the sensor, and how can I tell? She is pretty stock and does not have a boost fooler to protect the sensor. Nothing popped and I did not leave the the HP on very long.
My 2002 Ford Taurus has 73,000 miles and was in good shape except for a small leak under driver's side. Has a new rack and pinion replaced one week ago. Have now noticed small leakage again. Also, when the steering wheel is turned it makes a clicking sound...almost like winding a clock. Rack and pinion replaced and alignment done. Why would it begin leaking again. This is a very comfortable car and has been maintained.

I am getting a " winding down" kind of noise from in front of the driver after I turn the car off. it does not happen unless I have driven at least a short distance: i cant just run it in the driveway and then shut down and hear it. Is this normal, and what might it be?
View 6 RepliesWhen I drove out of my office last night I noticed what sounded like a loud squeaking sound. It was pretty pronounced for a while and then it faded to where I could not hear it unless the windows were down.
It is still there, and it is pronounced when driving by an object (like another car) to echo. It can't be a nail or rock because it will get louder at random times. It only happens when the R is in motion.
I have my 90 day courtesy check on Saturday and requested a ride along... what I can ask them to look for? I am thinking brakes, CV Boot and Bearing?

My '06 has been making this odd noise coming from the front of the vehicle. It's coming from somewhere under the hood on the right side (the driver's side), and I think it's under or next to the electric motor.
It happens when warmed up, and only when the vehicle is turned on. It doesn't seem to be related to the ICE, because the noise happens regardless if the ICE is running or not. In fact it happens rarely, so when I heard it I jumped out and tried to locate it (and recorded it with my phone).
About 3 weeks ago my car,a 2007 saturn vue 6cyc., started making banging noises in the glove box when I start the car. The noise last for about 10 seconds and is very loud. The car runs great, no problems.
View 8 RepliesThe other day I replace the front brake pads and rotors on my daughter's '03 Accent. On the test drive I noticed a scraping noise coming from the driver's side. Got it home and didn't see anything obvious, but for fun I removed the pads and swapped the shims around. It was better, and afterwards I put the new brakes through a few heat cycles. The scraping noise became less noticeable so I figured she should just drive it for a few days. Well today I'm informed that the noise is "really bad".

It has probably been there for a while, but my previous tires were so damn noisy I couldn't hear it. Replaced tires a few weeks ago (much quieter tires!) and now I notice it again. The door doesn't leak water. Maybe it's normal.
View 24 RepliesSo i have had my r now for a lil under 2 weeks, just noticed a strange noise, seems to be coming from the front drivers side, its a low whine/hum, almost like a pump or small motor is running and is very similar to when you use your wiper fluid. the noise is only present when the engine is cold and typically only does it two to three times while stopped. Just seeing if this is a normal thing, never heard anything like this on my previous vw.
View 4 RepliesMy 06 3.3 is having a problem with the pulleys. A few days ago something squealed, like a loose belt squeal. I put it off, then when I started it up this morning, I heard a clanging noise coming from the engine, and the battery light turned on. I checked everything out and saw that there is a pulley broken off which is rattling around the crankshaft pulley. I figured it was a pulley that had broken off, but all 7 pulleys in the car are present and accounted for. Incidentally, the serpentine belt is way loose, which would be why the car lost power and eventually died. Am I completely lost or did an 8th pulley magically appear in my engine.

Before I've found the battery cover not clamped down all the way and heard a similar rattle, now the battery cover is snapped tight but I still hear a rattle?

After I drive about ten or twelve miles it goes away and diminishes into a hissing noise. Is it possible the fuel pump is failing? I have a 2005 trailblazer with 105000 miles.
View 9 RepliesSeems like there is a constant wind noise coming from the driver's side door on my 4-door GTI. Best way I can describe it is as if the window is cracked a tiny bit, but not that loud. Seems the car isn't totally quiet over 30mph. The door seals and everything look fine.
