My problem is my 2001 Santa Fe petrol 2.7 L its done over 300,000 km one day it sounded like a click when driving, then when I started it cold in the morning it was missing [not running right] and had no power until it warmed up the spark leads are not that old anyway I put new spark plugs in it it seem to run a lot better but seems to be down on power on hills I think coils are ok? the motor not smokey but burn little bit of oil.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Power Loss - Vibration / Missing When Idle

My father owns a 2003 Santa Fe GLS with the 2WD 2.7L V6 engine.

Recently it has been having lots of power loss issues. It vibrates/misses when idling, if you put your foot down on the gas pedal, whether under load or not, it sometimes stalls or just sits there. We took it to Hyundai, and they had no error codes. They charged us $150 to tell us nothing is wrong with it, when clearly something is. The car has become downright dangerous to drive because it cannot make it up hills without stalling/losing power.

The most recent thing we had done to it was the wires/spark plugs changed, which I think was at 65k on the odometer?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Hard Downshift From 2nd To 1st After Warmed Up (Automatic Trans)

Recently started experiencing a hard downshift after driving for 30 minutes, and only from 2nd to 1st. No other shift issues with other gears, up or down.

When moving over to manual shifting, it doesn't appear to have the issue when downshifting in manual.

I replaced the radiator about 2 weeks ago due to a serious leak, and the shifting problem wasn't an issue before as I would have noticed.

Going to start with the fluid lvl, but it feels odds with it occurring during the downshift to 1st.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Idle Really Low / Almost Stalling And Oil Pressure Light Flicker When Warmed Up

I bought the car 3 years ago 2003 2.4L Hyundai Santa fe , I have driven it around 200 miles ( to and from shops ), I am having an issue now where once the car is warmed up ( post 15 mins ) It will idle really low * almost stalling * and oil pressure light will flicker, If I hold the brake and get it to almost 800 - 1k RPM it goes off and driving is not an issue *no knock*. I just got it driving for the 1st time in the past year, and drove it for about 45 mins in stop an go traffic, Temp light was all the way to cold, once stopped in stop and go traffic it would go up half way, as soon as I could get above 50mph it would slowly work itself all the way to the bottom?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Won't Start / Just Get A Click

2001 Santa Fe with a 6 cylinder. Died a while ago at CVS when my kid was driving it. I went there, jump started it, bingo all set. Drove it home. Shut it off, tried to restart, nothing happens. For safety's sake, since my daughter drives it, I bought a new battery. Installed it. Nothing but a click. Then winter came, and since we have an extra car, I left the Santa Fe to sit for a while.

Spring arrives, I install a new starter, charge the battery, turn the key, just get a click. Tested the old starter for giggles, it was fine.

Voltage at the hot terminal on the starter is 12.5v. Voltage at the solenoid when the key is turned to the start position is 12.5v. But still no start. I turned the crank easily by hand, so the motor is not locked up. I even tried hotwiring it but even that was fruitless.

Driving along, suddenly lost gears, engine revved a slight bit then lost power and stalled, the engine turns over but will not start but when it turns its in a lower key sound, the timing belt is in place but has recently been changed, would you think it has slipped? Seems a total lack of combustion in the top of the engine, would a slipped timing belt cause this?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: No Click On Starter When Put / Turn The Key In Ignition

I have a 2006 Santa Fe with 137K miles on it. Has been best car I ever owned, but have recently experienced a strange issue where it won't start, meaning I put the key in the ignition, turn it to the right and nothing, not even a click on the starter. I have found if I move the shifter around from P to R to D, etc. and then try it again it will start. Is there a safety interlock switch in the shifter that could be going bad and is therefore not satisfied/happy when I try to start the car? Or could the ignition hardware where I insert the key be the issue.

Bought my Santa Fe GLS less than 2 months ago and ran fine. Last week, went to store no problems and then went out 5 minutes later, put it in reverse and it stalled. I go to the store, and it lacks MAJOR power.

Now, if I leave it alone for a while it will normally start right up. While idling, everything seems fine. Then my "ghost" takes over the vehicle making it less responsive to the gas pedal. Also, at 3000 rpm, it sounds like its skipping a cylinder. When reading the gauge, it skips between 3000rpm to abut 2800 rpm.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2003 - While Driving Power Window Goes Down By Itself - Way To Disable It?

I have a 2003 Santa Fe, 2.4L. I think some snow got onto the power window switch panel, then melted and fried something. While driving, the driver side window will go down by itself. What's more, when I turn my headlights on, the window goes down as if the headlight switch is the switch for the window.

How I could fix this? Is there a way to disable the power window altogether? I'd rather do that in the meantime if it's going to require some expensive diagnosis and fix from the mechanic.

It seems to happen in the rain or when driving through puddles...the power steering seems to lock up for a short period, usually lasting only seconds. My daughter's 2004 Santa Fe (2.4L standard transmission) is making strange noises on start up which I think is due to a power steering issue as the noise is greater when she turns the wheel while stationary or when driving for the first 5 minutes or so until it warms up.

She came over tonight I she is about an 1 to 1.5" below the MINIMUM line on the Power Steering Reservoir.

Is there any special or proprietary Power Steering Fluid I need to be buying or what should I be buying to top this up?

I know there has been much discussion on using only Hyundai automatic transmission fluid over the years, but in this case it's for the power steering?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 - Slight Missing At Idle That Occurs All The Time

I will occasionally get a misfire after a rain storm, lasts about ten minutes then goes away. there is also a slight miss (no CEL) at idle, that occurs all the time. I'm thinking spark plug wires.... the plugs were done last year, but nothing else. to my knowledge the wires and coil packs are all original. i'm at about 114K on a 2004 santa fe 3.5l.

Also, does the computer store misfire codes? I know I got them in the past and i checked it at the time, but didn't write down what cylinder it was. think it'll still be in memory?

Think it's ok to change just the wires and not the coil packs? kind of on a budget...

Explorer :: 1993 - Ignition Missing After Car Warmed Up

152000 miles. Religious oil changes at 3000 miles. New plugs before this started.Drove about 60 miles on a warm day. Ran fine. Went to start it again, it seemed to be running on only 5 of 6 cylinders. Carefully limped it home. It did not overheat (stayed at normal temp) and the engine never died. The next day I pulled each spark plug and had a look. They all looked fine, none looked fouled. The dead cylinder was not obvious. Started it up, it ran great. This was an even hotter day, drove off to do errands. Probably drove 5 miles. Stopped, and when I started it up again, the miss was back! Went home, and while it was still running crummy, tried running it with one plug disconnected from the coilpack at a time, until I found the one that it didn't seem to matter if it was connected or not... cylinder #2. Later pulled that plug again, fine. Plug wire measure about 5K ohms on my meter, as its the shortest one. Sounds about right to me.

Today (its about 75 degrees) I bought a new coil pack and put it in. Ran beautifully. Warmed the car up, still ran nice. drove a few miles down to the freeway, ran great, got off at next exit. Proceed to run just perfect until I was slowing down for a light, then the miss came back.

Beyond checking the compression, what else might I try? I don't tolerate mechanics BTW, I do everything myself.

We have a 2004 2.4L 4 cyl Santa Fe. Turn ignition key get a click and engine will not turn over. Push key in harder and engine may start fine. If it is the key ignition switch or something else. is there somewhere I can look to see how to remove the ignition switch?
