Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Hard Bang When Shifting Under Low Speed?

Sep 25, 2012

I need to know if this is considered "normal" behavior of the transmission. This cold morning while driving in traffic the car just jerked really hard while shifting from 3rd to 2nd and as described in other threads its like someone rear ended the car.

It has only 2650 km, it's a 2012 2.4 6sp automatic 4wd Santa Fe, should I waste my time going to the dealer? It only happened once, no engine light no nothing. Could it be just a "glitch" in the ECM? I read some other threads before posting, but they were a bit older. Has experienced such a shifting bang under low speed with so little mileage?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Stops With A Bang In Reverse

This is the 4th time this has happened. While in reverse it will suddenly lock up as if I hit a large object, and the anti skid light will come on and also the all wheel drive light will come on.I will then shut off the engine and start the vehicle were the lights on dash will reset and go off.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Stiff Brake Pedal / Hard To Accelerate And Speed Drops Fast Without Gas

This happens to me again on a very hot day. The symptom is: all of sudden, the brake pedal becomes stiff. I mean I can only depress down the pedal just a little bit. Then when I want to accelerate, the engine works very hard and speed picks up very slowly. RPM will shoot to 3000. When I remove my foot from the gas pedal, the speed drops very fast. The car slows down much sooner than usual. So my feeling is the brake is dragging the car. The dealer cannot duplicate the problem during short test drive. So what can be wrong? The brake booster was replaced a few months ago. Is it possible it provides too much boost?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Loud Bang And Twang When Driving Down The Highway

I was driving down the highway when I had this loud bang and twang, after inspecting the car I realized it was the left rear seat belt that was broken. The seat belt fails to retract and cannot be pulled. I'm guessing the retractor is the fault.

Passat (B6) :: Speed Shifting When Not Accelerating Hard

So I put in a Neuspeed torque arm insert, and that has worked with shifting from 1st to 2nd when accelerating hard. But in my '96 Jetta M5 speed I could throw the shifter around into any gear (except 1st if going fast) at any speed.

With the Passat what I find is that I while I can move quickly to a particular gate, I have to enter the gate slowly. I am thinking this is due to having 6 speeds (narrower gates to fit in same space so I have to be more precise), but then I wonder.

When shifting normally, it is very smooth, it is just when I try to shift fast that I notice this. And it happens even when I am shifing fast "but not" accelerating and the engine is not under load. So this happens when I try to downshift from 6th (at 2,000 rpm) to 5th/4th. Notice this when I am doing 50-60 in 6th and then try to quickly drop into a lower gear to get through a yellow light before it changes.

The solution has been to shift fast to the gate and then slowly push it in, but I still have the old reflexs from the Jetta were it was one fast movement.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Transmission Shifting Hard Around 40 Mph On Freeway

I just got a 2004 hyundai santa fe 2.7l 2wd model with only 92k miles that I just bought off of Craigslist anyways when im on flat ground and cruising through town the transmission shifts perfectly. However when i went up an incline to get on the freeway it shifted hard around 40 mph but after i got back on flat ground again I got caught up in bumper to bumper traffic and once it cleared it shifted perfectly all the way to freeway speeds of approximately 70mph. Then after getting off the freeway and picking my friend up when i went to get back on the freeway (another incline) it shifted hard again around 40mph.

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: Shifting Really Hard Into 2nd Gear When Going Uphill

I have an '03 AWD, automatic Santa Fe and it started shifting really hard into 2nd gear when going uphill recently. It also seems to take a while to shift into 2nd from 1st, but it doesn't bang like it does when downshifting.

In other threads on this site is seems like either the throttle position sensor or shift solenoids may be responsible for this. What's causing it, and how to go about fixing it?

Santa FE SM (2001-06) :: 2004 - Hard Thump When Shifting From Reverse Into Drive

Recently my 2004 Santa Fe 2.7 AWD (~86k miles) has started to give a sort of hard thump when shifting from reverse into drive. It's fine going into any other gears and it shifts up and down normally. If I shift from reverse to neutral and then to drive it's fine.

I changed the transmission fluid when we first got the car at 40K miles with Hyundai Liquid Unobtanium SPiii fluid and again at 80k miles with Valvoline's SPiii offering. I just checked the transmission fluid level and it's within the normal range.

I can't tell if this is just drive-line slop or something else inside the tranny.

Ford - Explorer :: 1995 - Bang Shifting When Overdrive Off Light On Intermittently?

I have a 1995 Explorer 4x4, and starting last month i have been having an intermittent problem with bang shifting, the only time the bang shifting occurs is when the overdrive off light flashes, the only time the O/D Off light flashes is after driving the interstate or driving around town on hot days, after a few days or a few weeks the light turns off and its shift normal and no bang shifting, but i have a new problem now, the O/D Light off started flashing last night after driving the interstate and I noticed on my way home that it wont shift, it hit 4000rpm and i had to tap the break and accelerate again to make it shift, I went to AAMCO and they wont give me the codes the only thing they said is they want to do a soft parts rebuild, and something about hte gear ratio being off, i dont have the money to spend for a new trans or have one rebuilt, i would like to fix this myself.

Ford Transmission :: 2007 - Random Hard Shifts - Trans Not Shifting Out Of 1st

2007 escape 4wd 3.0. I've notice some random hard shifts for the past month and today the trans has trouble shifting out of 1st. If I get the rpms between 3,000-4,000 and ease off the accelerator pedal it shifts into 2nd without drama. It will not shift at lower rpms with the same easing off the pedal. The trans light is steadily blinking.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2008 - Pulls To Right When Shifting To 4th Gear

Just had a new set of tires and a front end alignment done on my 2008 Santa Fe with 86,000 miles. Now when it is shifting into 4th or 5th gear it feels like your hitting a patch of Ice. The Truck veers off to the right for a quick second. It just seems like you can feel it in the left wheel. Other than that the truck does not pull and drives straight.

Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Bang Noise When Speed Up While Driving

While driving I went to speed up and heard a bang. I lost all drive. I have no movement in any gear. I got the truck home and looked around. Trans fluid looked and smelled ok. I couldn't move the rear drive shaft by hand with engine in neutral. I drained the transfer case and that fluid looked fine also. What it could be or what else to look for. The truck is a 2006 f350 with 6.0 and 185,000 miles. Up to this point I had no trans issues.

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Transmission Shifting Harshly - Stuck Mid Shift

We've got a new 2010 Santa Fe AWD LTD with about 2800km on it. About once or twice a week, under normal driving, we've noticed very harsh shifts. It seems to be the 2-3 shift and is around 40km/h. Just normal acceleration from a stop sign. And just recently a new issue. It seemed like it got stuck mid-shift...

I was accelerating slowly from a stop and on the 2-3 shift the engine revved up above 3000 as if it was in neutral. I eased off the gas and then it completed the shift. My wife took it into the dealer today, but I'm worried they'll send it back as "unreproducible" as we've only had about 1 problem for every 10 hours of driving. We'll see what they say. As you can imagine, I'm not very impressed that we're having these issues before our first oil change...

Somebody mentioned that maybe there's something sticking in the transmission and it builds up enough pressure and then finally makes the shift. But I'm not a transmission expert by any means...

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: 2009 - Transmission Shifting Is Not As Smooth As When Engine Is Hot

When I start the car for the first time of the day, the shifting is not as smooth as when the engine is hot. Is this normal ? When I checked the trans fluid, it was between 25 and 75...(the second little mark on the dipstick) but I just drove about 5min so maybe the engine wasn't warm enough..

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Transmission Slipping Near Gear Shifting Or Under Load

We have a 2010 Santa Fe AWD LTD with about 140, 000km on it. It recently came back from front suspension work. The suspension is fine now, but we notice harder shifts in the transmission. Also, there seems to be a vibration just before shifting gears and when under load (like going up hill) seems to slip (like on ice) about once every second until the shift is made. Once the shift is made it drive smoothly until put under pressure again. Even stepping down a bit on the accelerator will cause this slipping feeling (or maybe its loss of power). Just had new plugs put in and a tuneup so it's not that. Could something from the suspension work cause these symptoms?

Santa Fe (CM - 2007-12) :: Repeated Door Lock Sound When Shifting Into Reverse

I started noticing that when I shift the car into reverse to back out of the driveway, the car door locks sound like they are trying to lock/unlock repeatedly for a couple of seconds. I know the car automatically locks the door when I shift out of park, but the multiple retries is a new behavior. All doors do lock. I do have the child locks enabled for the rear doors and that hasn't changed in 3-4 years. I also disabled them and the retries persist.

I have also noticed that around the same time (past month?) I must push the unlock button on the keyless entry remote twice to unlock all the doors--including the driver side door. In the past I only had to push the button once to just unlock the driver's door and the side lamps would flash, but one push doesn't do anything anymore. I've never changed the battery in the remote, but does the car care that the remote battery may be running low to exhibit this behavior? It's a 2010 SF with 52K miles.

My 2006 (new shape) Santa Fe experiencing heater fan problems. Started off with it all working fine, except it wouldn't turn off the fan completely. Now the fan will only come on when at max speed. I've taken it to the Hyundai dealer and they recommended changing the heater control unit on the dashboard. I managed to find two second hand units but each time these didn't work - they lit up ok but no power to the fan was delivered.

Prius (2004-09) :: 2007 - Extremely Hard Braking At Low Speed?

My 2007 Prius brakes extremely hard at low speed (while I am applying the same amount of pressure). While decelerating, I let the regen braking do most of the work until I get to about 10mph, then I press the brake so I will have equal pressure until I stop. When I get to about 5mph I feel almost a lunge where the brakes aren't working as hard and then the brakes take hold extremely hard. My prius has been doing this for awhile not depending on the weather, but I finally noticed it worse than normal yesterday when it was raining and my car braked hard and actually skid and the traction control light came on.
