Often when sitting in my car when its turned off I will hear a clicking noise on the left side of the steering wheel under the dash. It may click 3 times. 4 times, every few minutes sometimes. Almost like a relay opening/closing.

When I shut it off after a errand I was checking messages on my phone and after about 45 seconds I started hearing this repetitive clicking noise from the left side of the dash near the vent area by the door. It clicked about 5 times and stopped for about 20 seconds, then clicked 5 more times, stopped for 20 seconds and again, 5 clicks, then it stopped and didn't start again. I am not sure if it is just the computer making adjustments, etc, but it is a little unsettling on a new car with 320 miles.
I thought maybe a bomb was in there. It was about 90 degrees outside and I had been using the A/C. I plan on listening again tomorrow evening when I get home from work and see if it does it again. (My car is a '15 SE 2.4L if that makes a difference). Maybe I am just paranoid, but you buy a new car to get rid of worries, not still have to worry if your car is breaking down, but I know new cars have a lot of features/settings/computers, etc and certain sounds may be normal.
When I shut the car off and just sit in the car, I hear a very odd tapping noise coming from the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It taps 3-4 times, stops for 20 seconds, and taps again 3-4 times. This process repeats a few times and then stops completely. What on earth could it be? I'm thinking its a bad relay or perhaps the car is possessed. I'm not sure I could reproduce for the dealer.
View 15 RepliesI have a problem with the steering. Sometimes a clicking noise is coming out from the front left side when I sharply turn the wheels or hit the brake. The car was in a local garage today and they couldn't find the problem. 2 mechanics checked the suspension, cv joint, axle, wheel bearing... also 1 of them driven the car and found nothing. Tomorrow I show them the clip below.

The other morning when i started the car, i heard 3 short clicking noises come from the dash area. it did it again randomly in single clicks while driving. This morning, it did it again. I shut the hvac off, turned it on again, and i get one loud click. of and on a few more times produced the same results. went for breakfast, shut the car off, leaving the hvac on. when i started the car, i got the 3 loud clicks again.
Took my car in for 10k mile service and let them know there has been some clicking noise coming from the front suspension when making a left/right turn...
I dropped off my car on September 21st and they have yet to complete my car... I've called them every single day since but, I don't get a good explanation from the dealer...
My 2003 F-250 5.4l gas started making a recurring clicking sound from under the dash on the left side. It started last summer and would repeat numerous times each time I had the truck out. It's the kind of sound the turn signal makes. Always 5 clicks. It stopped happening when the weather got cold here in Canada, but started again this week (maybe because of the the warm weather we're having). How do I troubleshoot what the issue is? If the headlights are off it also flashes the lights in the instrument cluster five times.
View 4 RepliesI ask this because when on the hwy (60-70mph) you can feel some vibration in your hands. I can let the steering wheel go and it won't move a bit but when hands placed on it you can definitely feel the road, including bumps, and regardless of road conditions. Tires where balanced at 7500mi but it still happens. Regardless of temperature or PSI in the tire.
I thought we had electric/electronic steering and no hydraulics? Maybe unrelated but, when turning in my driveway, very slow, I can hear a slight clicking (maybe rubbing) noise coming from the steering wheel column. Everything else has to be silent to be able to hear it.
I have a 2015 Passat TSI. Everything is wonderful except for a rattling noise I hear in the far right side of the dash. I notice it during hot weather when the car has been out. I guess it's because the plastics are expanding and some of the parts are rubbing together or something..? If this is the case, how can I identify where it is? What should I do? Could it be something else?

My 2015 Gs 350 F sport started making grinding noise from the front passanger side wheel. The noise comes from driving and not braking so im assuming its not the brake pads and its not squeaking noises as a worn out brake will sound.

It turned out the whole rack and pinion setup was pouring out fluids and needed to be completely replaced also while it was in there they checked out an oil leak which ended up being the front valve cover and replaced a dead O2 sensor. The car has 99,300 miles

View 6 RepliesI have owned this 2009 Sonata for a year now..in the past month whenever I am at a stop and go to drive (at slower speeds is when its noticed) you hear a slight click sound from the rear. I took it to a local fix it shop today and they said the sway bar link on the left rear side was bent (from a fender bender since repaired). Well this did not fix the issue. They also said my rear brakes have 30% wear left in them. Do you think for any reason this would be the clicking? The noise happens as well when Im backing out of my garage...at low speeds.

View 18 RepliesA while back I posted a message about a humming sound that sounded like it was coming from the left side of the dash behind the left air vent.
I talked to the master tech from my local VW dealer and he tells me that the humming from the left side of the dash is not the CAN BUS. He says that there's a water pump high in the left front wheel well that is supposed to run as part of the engine cool process. He says it's not supposed to run during normal operation, but he has heard a LOT of complaints about the noise.
He suspects there will be a fix from VW given the number of complaints, but he says that it's normal and nothing to worry about. Just a little annoying.
When I move the wheel to the left, I get this metal grinding sound (similar to rust on brake rotors/worn down brake pads). It happens when the foot is off the brake and ONLY when the wheel is turned to the left.

Dealer had the car for three days and replaced a part in the steering column that was supposed to solve the problem unfortunately it did not. I am reluctant to bring the car back to have the dash torn apart again. Funny thing about the rattle it appears to lessen as the car warms up.

Is there an actuator that turns the right side unit on under heavier acceleration?
BMW uses an actuator on their exhaust system that opens up to create more airflow when above a certain RPM.
I seem to be having an issue with my air conditioning. I don't think it's an ID-10T error, but it is very peculiar.
My driver side vents blow hot or lukewarm air, however my passenger vents are ice cold. I have the 15 limited, so it does have the "dual" control, and as such I think the issue may be related to that.
Both controls are set to low, max fan, head only, and AC. The "Sync" and "Auto" buttons have no effect.
Any things I can check? I really do not want to bring it into the dealer as they treated me very poorly the last time I came in and my car was out for a month.
