Looking for info if this feature is available? The trunk doesn't seem to pop open by itself
Just picked up the Tiguan SEL with 4 motion, nav, pano roof. The RNS510 has MDI.....
So I had opportunity to drive a Buick Lacrosse. When I popped the trunk, it sprung open all the way which my Lexus does not do. While the rest of that Lacrosse was garbage, I really liked that the trunk did that. Especially when your hands are full. Am I whining enough yet? So this is normal right?
View 12 RepliesI've noticed that when I open the trunk from inside the car, the trunk lid opens and raises up. When I open the trunk using the key fob, it only unlocks the trunk, but doesn't raise the lid. It's odd, is it just my car? Or can this be changed so the trunk lid raises when using the key fob. I didn't see this covered in the manual.
View 4 RepliesI'm having some trouble opening the trunk of the Tiguan and I'm wondering if this is a known or common problem. When I hit the open button on the remote control, sometimes the trunk door doesn't fully un-hitche and it remains locked. I can completely close the door again and try again and it still won't open.

Windows no longer roll down.
Trunk doesn't open.
Interior lights don't turn on.
I go surfing, camping, tailgating, etc and I've noticed in all of my excursions that the trunk light stays on and doesn't turn off - like the rest of the interior lights - after five minutes or so. I'd rather not drain the battery or burn myself on the bulb cover (I've done the latter). I've scoured the Tiguan manual looking for an answer, but there's nothing in there regarding this issue.
Is there a switch I'm unaware of?
Possible solutions:
1) Change the bulb to an LED type to minimize heat production and lessen battery drain
2) Take the bulb out (risking a 'replace bulb' alert on the MFD). The light is always covered anyway with 'stuff.' I'm considering putting a small battery-powered tap-light on the underside of the trunk cover.
I am facing a discouraging situation here w/ my Phaeton: the trunk does not work, the mechanic called it quits and VW Dealership wants $32k and 3-6months in order to replace the car's electrical harness.
So here are some details regarding the problem:
1. It started by not opening the trunk when using the door switch. only the remote key.
2. Then, it wouldn't lock the trunk (it would open all the way and close)
3. After a few more days, it wouldn't open/close the trunk or lock it. (it would work once in a while, and sometimes the trunk would open/close just half way)
4. As or right now, the trunk opens and closes most of the time, but it doesn't lock.
I replaced the trunk hatch(lock), the hydraulic pump that opens and closes it, new battery and fuses. The mechanic worked on it on several occasions doing all the replacements and calibration, computer reset and all that.
I'm guessing it might be an electrical problem, a loose contact or interrupted wire given the nature of the problem (intermittent operation). But I don't know where to start looking...
Took my mom's new Jetta to the store today and went to unlock the trunk with the fob and it would work. Ended up unlocking the whole car and doing it that way. Tried it again at home and still nothing. The car is brand new and this was the first time using that feature. I've unlocked the trunk on my MKIV using the fob before and no problems. If its something simple, we don't really want to take it to the dealer because people aren't exactly careful.
View 8 RepliesMy '11 Limited has a trunk light that isn't working. I figured it was a bad bulb so replaced it (the old bulb's filament wasn't broken tho). Nope, still didn't work. So I took out the entire little bulb holder to check for bad connections, corrosion, etc. .....the connections are fine. Next I got my volt/ohm meter and checked for DC voltage at the plug coming into the unit.....I got 12.83 volts. So I hooked a jumper directly from the plug to a bulb's contacts and still no light.
What am I missing here ? How can I read voltage at the meter and not have the juice to light a tiny bulb?
When I push open for the convertible, nothing. No light no warning nothing.
View 14 RepliesI sent my car out for a new clutch and timing chains cause I did not have the time to do my self. So when I got it back I try and get into the trunk and the key will not turn the lock so then I tried to do it with the switch and you could here it unlock but again still would not open.
Also I called the mechanic and he claims he never heard this b4 cause the key should always be able to turn.
So my Passat 2.0T 4dr trunk will not open up on it's own.
When I press the trunk release button inside the car or on my key fob, the trunk latch releases but it will not fling up on its own.
How would I fix this? Do I spray WD40 on the latch bar??
I have bumper to bumper warranty on the car....Do I just take it to the dealers or is this something I can fix? Will the stealership try to charge me for this work?
I have a 2013 Accent SE and am having trouble with the trunk release -- it doesn't work. It looks like the part in the trunk may have come loose or something.

Mine doesn't sit under the gasket, or even around the gasket for that matter...almost like it has started sagging over time.
I have 2005 Camry. The trunk will not open with any key, remote key fob, release next to seat or even crawling through back seat and using emergency release. There is nothing in the trunk. A liner prevents me from seeing the actual latch.

The other night I reached down to pull the trunk release and it didn't open! The button on the key will still open it (and so will using the key itself) however so I've narrowed it down to the little cable that runs from the release all the way to the trunk. What I should try? Is this covered by any warranty at all? I know I have the optional top tier warranty but I'm completely blanking on its name.
I had a flat tire yesterday and when my husband went to change the tire we couldn't open the trunk. I tried pushing the button in the glove box and I still can't open it.

View 5 RepliesFor the past couple of weeks I have been having some issues with my trunk. The MFD would say that the trunk is open when indeed it is not. With that happening the car will lock the doors but not arm with an audible beep and the door lock lights will flicker at the same time so would the trunk display on the MFD.
I found a fix by locking the trunk down with the valet key on the driver door by the trunk/gas buttons, that stopped the trunk display from lighting up and the car was no able to arm the alarm properly.
Now within 3 days the issue has come back up even with the trunk locked with the valet key. In order to get the car to arm properly I have to unlock the Trunk Switch , open the trunk, re close trunk and then re lock the trunk switch with the valet key.
