Phaeton :: How To Remove Symbol From Sat NAV Map Display
I have entered too many symbol on my sat nav map display, e.g., petrol station, car park, train station, etc. The map display looked very congested and would like to delete some of the symbol. There is no instruction in the handbook for removing the symbol.

If you get the Nav w/o air suspension does it display anything other than basic navigation functions. I have seen pics in the FAQ showing an inclinometer among other things. Also will the DVD based Nav play CD-Rs.

I thought I would share this with all of you. I had my T2 in for 5K service. I asked again if they could change the digital display of the speed in km/h to mph. I thought there might have been a new computer update. They spent an extra day working on just this issue. The tech even called VW and went to another T2 on the lot to try to reprogram it. No luck. So - it looks like it's official. You can't change the display to MPH on a T2 with the "plain" MFI. I am working on learning the metric system - or just reading the gauge. Still love it!

My A/C dropped out, which alerted me to the temp gauge which was high, then to the "overheating" warning in the display.
I parked it to allow it to cool, then drove on with the heat cranked to shed some heat, only to have to park it again. After only a 3.5 hr wait (what a joke), VW's roadside sub-contractor showed up with a flat-bed to bring it to Rod East VW in San Antonio.
I am still waiting for their diagnosis. I did take some time this weekend to test drive a truck and look at some other vehicles, but nothing in this price range is appealing to me.
Despite the grief I go through with this thing, it's still the best value. I've got 52k miles on my loaded '04 V8.
Touareg :: Center Display Went Dim Suddenly
My center display (between tach and speedometer) all of sudden went dim. Can barely read any info. Does this have a fuse or do I need to take it in for a check up...

I had my TReg in for the 5000 mile service this week. Among the laundry list of items on my punchlist for them I mentioned the compass and the fact it was going on and off and the blue light was sometimes changing from dim to brighter when the headlights are on.
The dealer indicated that VWoA has acknowledged some problems with the compass display and I'm getting a new one.
Touareg :: Speed Won't Display With Cruise?
My owners manual says that when cruise is turned on there is a "cruise" symbol in the color MFI - that works as advertised. It also states that after pressing "set" at speed the set speed should also be displayed.
Do a 'set' speed display with cruise and if so do you have NAV or not. Do you have Color or Red MFI ?

I need to remove the automatic climate control module on my Touareg 2004, but I can't seem to get it to release. I have removed the radio and the metal frame to which it attaches. I have also disconnected all the electrical connectors from the climate control unit. Still no luck. The climate control unit doesn't move up, and when I try to pull it towards me it appears to be locked by something as it only comes out a tiny little bit.

So the dealer replaced my homelink buttons for the delaminating. The light that lights up when you press the button is not present in the cutout. Rather than drag the truck all the way back to the dealer, I was hoping to pop the cover off and reposition it myself.

The clips on the cover broke so I bought a new one. Since they redesigned the 04 base, I have to remove the base. I remove the nut on the outside and the 3 on the on the inside after removing the cover. However I can't figure out how to pull the wiper off and replace the base. There is something holding it together. There is a pin that is connected to the inside that has a round hole but it is not a torx, allen, or any type of other tool I tried.
