I have an '08 Touareg. The automatic door motor on the rear tailgate is having an issue. It closes with no problem when you push the button. However, when you try to open it, the door opens about half way and then cuts out. It is rather difficult to open the door manually. Is it a motor issue, or just a fuse or relay issue?

View 11 RepliesHaving issues with the rear tailgate door unlocking. Seems like mine on occasion is only making a noise but not unlocking completely and showing the door ajar light with the beep. When it happens, its a pain to get it to stop and close completely, or even open. I have to push hard on the door to get it to stop.

View 5 RepliesI have a 2010 RX350 that the power tailgate will open by itself. This happens when sitting and the car off and no keys in it. I had heard that an aftermarket auto start ( which I have) can make this happen sometimes.. Is that true.
View 2 RepliesIf Touareg rear hatch actually opens when press the remote or just unlocks? Mine opens only after you touch area above license plate. Also I cant open at all from door switch. Gas Flap also doesnt work from door. I ran output test with vagcom and both the gas flap and hatch work.

Now I realize I can disable the electronic lift, but it's a shame not to be able to use this feature. I'm sure others have had this problem, but I've googled with no success.
View 14 RepliesI just got a 2011 LX 570. The power rear door/tailgate opens just fine when pressing the button inside the car, or on the key fob. And closing it works fine as well from there as well as from the button on the door. However, when I press the larger "unlock" button on the tailgate itself, it does not open by itself. I have to manually open it.
I've read in a couple of places that this is a setting that the dealer must changed...IE to make that large unlock button also open the tailgate by itself instead of having to manually open it.
As of today for some reason my automatic tailgate will only open half way.
View 4 RepliesJust installed a new jvc kd-s48 stereo and it cuts out for a half a second every couple seconds. Kind of like a scratched cd but it's with the tuner and mp3. The sound "stumbles" and then it very quickly raises back up. it sort of seems like if I wiggle the wires in the back it'll stop. I will check all connections, I use female and male spade connectors and then shrink wrap over each connection. Could it be a faulty deck?

So they brought out another Touareg and opened the tailgate...it opened all the way...and they still tried to find fault with our car. Why the tailgate doesn't open up all the way?

View 8 RepliesI have set the system up in the center info display (by checking the tailgate) to unlock the tailgate (and all doors) with the key remote. Once the tailgate is unlocked and opened you can't close it without it relocking, forcing you to hit the key again or opening the drivers door and activating the remote there. I know this issue seems minor, but its kind of a hassle when you have gear, groceries and a toddler...

- the dashboard curve above instrument panel creaks constantly (even when the car is torqued in a slow turn)
- right rear passenger door creaks where panel meets doorframe and where wood trim meets door panel
- storage box above center vents creaks
- passenger door creaks where leather patch meets door panel
- smalls wood strip above light switch is damn near falling off (not just wood part, the entire aluminum/wood panel)
- some kinda thump (sounds more substantial than trim) from the rear over larger bumps.
- top compartment closure of armrest leaves a 1/4" play that creaks when even the slightest pressure is applied.
and I am sure several more I just cant locate
Bottom line, I waiting for an '05 because I thought they would have the bugs out, but this things is miserable. Even the smallest of ripples in smooth pavement sends my ears pointing toward some awful creak or rattle. And even if I bring these things up to the dealer, 1) will they be willing to fix and 2) is it really in their realm of ability? I just want my car to be quiet like it was designed, right now sounds worse than the 120k miles 97 chevy suburban my friend has.
I walk up the car, try to open rear door(doesn't open) drivers side door opens.. get the message, 'side light on' on MFI my lights are set as automatic, no turn signals on. try to start car w/ starter button, no go. try key, nothing. try full left, then full right(as if 1 battery dead) get 'immobile. active' finally got it started, after..[what did it] open hood, close hood. unlock/lock car w/ clicker several times. insert key w/ opposite side up.[normally when using the key, I have an emergency button up]. car starts.
Had a similar issue again later in a day, but got a key icon on MFI after it started. i'm going to try a different key, to see if that makes any difference. as starter button glows and clicker works to unlock/lock. I can't imagine the system doesn't see the key as visible. in the manual, it states that if the key doesn't appear present the immobilizer is activated.
After reading about water in body panels in another post I looked on my rear door and saw what looks like drain holes, one on each side of the inside lip, but they are covered by a sticker and have been painted over. Was this something that was just never removed or are they supposed to be covered.

View 9 RepliesWas picking up some pumpkins with my wife on Sat. Loading the rear up. Pop from overhead and the tailgate comes crashing down on my head. Seems that one of the struts let go.
Im also having issues with the little plastic bits on the seat rails flying off. they catch my pant leg and get pulled off. Im also having some wicked wind noise from the rack. almost a drumming noise. such are the joys of owning a 50,000$ VW.
