Touareg :: Rear Wiper Always Sprays Washer Fluid?

How do I turn on the rear wiper without it spraying the window with washer fluid? I've followed the instructions in the manual for using the rear wiper, but very time I turn the wiper on it sprays the window with washing fluid. I don't need washer fluid sprayed on the window if the window is already wet from rain.

So my rear wiper works, but I can get no washer fluid to come out. Yes, I filled it properly. Is there a separate pump for the rear? a separate fuse? is it clogged?

I have the 2011 Touareg Hybrid and having a problem with the rear wiper. (Hybrid, TDI, or V6) I have 2 issues:
- Issue 1 : The rear wiper is leaking fluid and it drips down onto the tailgate and leaves a stain. (See photo) The first time i noticed this I have the wipers in the auto sensing mode. It has not rained any, but I thought it was possibly activating. After washing vehicle, I turned off the the auto sensing and it has not rained at all nor have I used the wiper for anything. It did it again. I have informed my service advisor at VW and they are going to look at it next time I take it in.
- Issue 2 : My dealer and I have narrowed this down to be only on the Hybrid. The rear wiper does not lift up. Meaning I cannot pull the wiper out at all for cleaning and washing vehicle. When I got my hybrid, I could do that. However, there is a cap at the end covering the spray holes. We had to push the cap down further to where the holes in the cap lined up with where the water shoots out. This appears to be the correct position for the cap, but it now prevents you from being able to raise the wiper. You can also see the cap in the photo.

So my wife and I swap vehicles for one day and what happens? It snows like hell and she can't get any wiper fluid to come out!
I started some troubleshooting and missed some clear indicators of the problem.
->Rear fluid works
->No pump engagement when trying the front fluid
Wasn't sure if I had 1 or 2 pumps (separate front and back or just one) so I bought one, tore out the reservoir (that air intake was a tough one), swapped the pumps and PRESTO! Still didn't work.
This leads me to believe I should have realized it was switch/power related all along. I don't mind tearing things apart, but I'm not good with electrical. Should I just buy a new whole stock and see if that works? My fuse isn't blown and seems to also be for the power windows, which do work, so I think I should be fine from that point.

I've got a MkV R32, and I had an '07 GTI before it. I never had this problem with my GTI, but with the R32, the rear wiper jet had become clogged, and then started moving from it's 12 o'clock position to 9 o'clock with the wiper arm when in use.
I replaced the jet last week, which seemed to solve part of the clog issue, but the jet/nozzle, still moves. I am going to try popping the rear hatch cover off today to try and see what if there's an issue there, (I suspect there is, as I have washer fluid leaking through the hatch latch still, MkV R32.
I suspect there is a buildup of residue on something that it dragging on the new nozzle. I don't want to mess something up....

A weird problem occurred today on my 07 with 61000 miles, with no accidents or electrical problems before. When i pull the right stalk towards me to activate the front wiper washers, the rear washer turns on, and nothing at all comes out of the front washers, but the front wipers would still wipe several times as they normally would when front washers are activated.

I'm guessing that the washer nozzles on the rear wiper arm froze solid. When the washer was turned on the pressure build up made a hose fitting pop off. What I heard, then saw, was blue washer fluid pouring onto the cargo area rug.
I removed the ~3' plastic trim under the lift gate and the rearmost dome light. You can see the cutout over my pinky & ring fingers. I also removed the r/s trim panel, but think I could have left it in place.
Plugged it back together with some zip ties to strengthen all of the connections. So far, all good

I have a leaking washer fluid reservoir. Spews out under the car when I try to fill it up and then get the low washer fluid warning. Have always used washer fluid -20F formula.

My wife came home this evening and said our new Treg 'smelled' when she came to a stop light. She says she had no error messages or lights, other than low washer fluid. I went out, smelled nothing, so I started it up. All gauges normal. No odd sounds... no odd smells. I shut it off and looked under the car and to my surprise saw oil rapidly dripping from the drives side at about the front axle. I checked the dipstick and it showed no oil at all. I plugged in my VAG-com and checked for codes - nothing.
I'm hopeful that the engine is not now a paperweight. I suspect VW will want to fix the leak and give the truck back to me. I think at a minimum I need them to do a leak down compression check.

I recently noticed that our washer fluid is leaking. We had a massive snowstorm just over a week ago, and we accordingly went snowboarding. After returning that night, the fluid warning went off. I filled it, and that was that. We went again the next day, in which I used no washer fluid at all. The wipers alone took care of it. Anyhow, that night I kept getting the signal to top up the washer fluid again! I had added a full gallon the night before! So, I figured something was up.
Last night, I actually witnessed it dripping from underneath, about where you think it would. I wasn't able to see the actual tank, or any of the lines leading up to the filling spout, so I couldn't tell if there's a crack in anything, or if there's a bad connection somewhere.
Before that, the only indication that there might be an actual leak was "blueness" on the garage floor, but it honestly didn't look like any more than what you would get while filling the tank and having some miss and land on the ground. It wasn't a massive puddle or anything. The other indication was the "top off" warning.

When i try to use rear window washer the fluid comes out on the front window with front wipers not activating and rear one moving. The front washer works fine. The hose was disconnected above the headliner.

The outlet holes do not appear to be blocked and I cannot hear a pump motor running when trying to clean the rear window. Is there a separate pump to supply fluid to the rear window?

Have a 2011 Golf TDI hatchback. Located in Toronto, Canada where it's about - 20 Celsius with windchill today. Currently have no washer fluid coming through the front or rear nozzles. Thought I was out of fluid but tank is full. Tried piercing the nozzles but nothing changed and they don't look blocked. Don't think it's the weather either as my car is parked in my garage overnight. When I try to spray I can hear the mechanism trying to spray but nothing comes out.

Okay, So my rear washer is not pushing out the nozzle. Pump works, line from res checks okay, nothing frozen at this point. What route the line goes through the body, or what the diag steps are or the process to service it?

I have a leak in my rear wiper fluid line on my GTI. When I use the rear washer, I get a pool of fluid in the driver side taillight and under the rear seats. I'm getting some fluid in the rear driver side headliner as well so the break must be there. First step is to pull the headliner.

Looks like the gasket/seal for my rear wiper fluid line is bad. Fluid leaking/spraying out of the back. Nothing major but it's having to wipe off the fluid so often. And another reason to delete my rear wiper...

Having problem with a few drops of fluid occasionally dripping from the rear hatch washer nozzle? I notice it happening once a day or every other day after accelerating. Is there a quick fix or is it going to be a take it in, order parts, bring it back sort of deal?

How far does the rear wiper go? Full half circle; 180 degrees? Or is it less? It seems to me the couple times I used it, it made a full 180 degree sweep. After having the rear window replaced, it now only goes about 140-150 degrees. Stops at 10 o'clock position and returns.

I can activate the rear wiper spray, but cannot seem to activate the wiper itself. I am hoping that this is user error (misunderstanding owner's manual) rather than a broken rear wiper assembly.

As the title says, this has been leaking for months now. I hardly use the rear washer, but it constantly drips out of the wiper arm. Washer fluid now bakes onto the paint in the hot sun.

The clips on the cover broke so I bought a new one. Since they redesigned the 04 base, I have to remove the base. I remove the nut on the outside and the 3 on the on the inside after removing the cover. However I can't figure out how to pull the wiper off and replace the base. There is something holding it together. There is a pin that is connected to the inside that has a round hole but it is not a torx, allen, or any type of other tool I tried.
