Touareg :: Rhythmic Bump / Vibration At 50 Mph?

Dec 31, 2003

My wife and I have noticed that at right around 50 MPH we can feel a BUMP BUMP BUm that is very slight. It almost feels like you are driving over expansion joints on a concrete bridge or something just not as severe -- a more subdued BUMP. It doesn't matter if it's in Drive, Tip, or Sports mode it's still there. Mostly in 5th and 6th gears (which is right for the speed we're feeling this at). It feels too slow to be a tire problem so I'm thinking it might be drivetrain related. It doesn't do it everytime you get to 50 but at least once on the way to work you can feel it.

I'm also having a problem with a bad shimmy when we cut the steering wheel hard to make a turn from a complete stop. The whole car shakes until you get the wheel back to the center position it's like glass from then on. I was researching an earlier post and they suggested that uneven wheel pressures might be the cause for the second problen. They mentioned that it had to do with the AWD and differential sensing different wheel speeds from large differences in the air pressure. By the way we have a V8 w/ 19's and no Air Susp.

Ford - F150 :: 2002 - Rhythmic Shake Like Driving Over A Bump

I have a 2002 F150. Small V6 regular cab 8 foot bed 2 wheel drive. In the last couple of months it has developed a rhythmic shake that is more like driving over a bump. It is really quite similar to driving on a road where all the release joints have been recently tarred so you go over a slight bump every second or two. I actually tried to convince myself that is what it was for about a week. Seems to be coming from the front driver seat.I previously lived in Mexico and the pot holes there would occasionally shear the bolts right at the lug nuts. Not too different than a car that was damaged like that, but I checked the lug nuts and it seems ok.The bump does not transfer into the steering wheel.Being a 14 year old ford the motor doesn't idle as smooth as my wife's new Toyota, but not bad either. If I let off the gas the bump doesn't stop. I haven't changed into neutral while it is running to see if that stops it.Tie rod?Axle? What to check or if there is a picture of something I could post that might tell you what is wrong?Planned on a camping trip this weekend with my wife. She is going to be ticked if we have to cancel.

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Humming With Rhythmic Vibration Coming From Driver Side Front Wheel

2008 2wd 4.6L 98K miles F150 for the past few weeks has been humming with a rhythmic vibration which feels like it is coming from driver's side front wheel. It doesn't do it constantly, nor at all speeds. Once I hit about 25mph, you can start to hear a humming. At 35, slight vibration. Between 50-60, heavier vibration. Sometimes at 65+, it subsides quite a bit. Both front rotor assemblies are newer, and I put in a brand new left because I thought it was a bad bearing.

Touareg :: Squeaky While Hitting Even The Slightest Bump

In the last two weeks I keep getting a squeaki-ish ratter from the back whenever I hit even the slightest bump.

Dealer will look into it next week? I think it has to do with the rear seats.

Touareg :: 2004 - Constant Bump Coming From The Middle Of Car

Yesterday I started feeling a constant bump coming from the middle of the vehicle... i can really feel it with with elbow on the console. The bumping seems to speed it up with transmission but it does continue when i slip it into neutral. I stopped by the dealership and they said "It's prolly some motor that in the middle of the car. It happens on a lot of touaregs"

Touareg :: While Going On A Bump Alarm Goes Off That Rear Hatch Is Open

Ever since the dealer did some work on my TReg that involved removing the back bumper, and some other side panels to fix a whistling noise (this is a known problem with a bead of glue being left in some wind channel during manufacturing), when I go over a bump the alarm goes off that the rear hatch is open.

I have to slam the rear window 4 or 5 times to get the indicator to go back off. Dealer says I have to bring it in to have it looked at and they give me a rental. I want them to be able to order the fricken part, let me know when it is in, and THEN drop it off to get fixed. Just the sensor being loose possibly?

When it goes off, the picture of the vehicle comes on in the MFI which is annoying, because I can't change to anything else. And when I stop I have to make sure it is off or interior lights stay on.

Touareg :: 2006 - Radio Volume Goes Up Substantially When Turning Over Bump

I have a 2006 with the DVD Nav radio. Sometimes when I am turning and going over a bump (curb, speed bump), the volume jumps up dramatically. Even when the radio is on mute, it will come out of mute and start playing substantially louder than the volume was set prior to mute. At first, I assumed I must be hitting the VOL+ button on the steering wheel but then I realized that it often happened when my hand was on the completely another side of the wheel (with the 2006 power steering change, it's pretty easy to turn one-handed). I am downright positive this isn't user-error.

Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2000 F350 Front End Vibration When Hit A Little Bump On The Road?

2000 F350. 4x4, V10. 153,xxx miles. Here's the story. Whenever I hit a little bump in the road, I get a vibration directly under my feet and in the gas pedal, NOT in the steering. It will go away pretty quick or when I hit another bump. It only happens when the front driveshaft is not spinning. Hubs locked in in 2WD, it doesn't vibrate. Hubs unlocked and in 4x4 High it doesn't vibrate.

Touareg :: Vibration At Idle

I asked the service mgr. to bump up the idle ever so slightly. He was limited to a very minor bump otherwise it would read as a fault. It worked - no idle vibration (so far).

Touareg :: Vibration And Noise In The Wheel

I realize this has probably been beaten like a dead horse. '04 though. I have an '06 v6 Touareg. When I first bought it, it had a nasty vibration in the wheel, they rebalanced, and rotated the tires. It went away. Now, with about 20K on the vehicle, and having rotated religiously, I have the MOST annoying Howl. The tires have become SO noisy.

Touareg :: Vibration In Steering Starting At 55 Mph

I am concerned about a vibration I have in my steering Starting at 55 mph. The dealer had tried several thing to eliminate that vibration but no change. A technical engineer from the Volkswagen Canada office came and tried my T-reg. His statement is that it's normal that the T-reg vibrate at that speed and they all vibrate. We even tried a new truck from the dealer lot and same vibration. The only problem is that nobody told me before I bought the T-reg that it's a normal vibration and it's part of the normal specs of the vehicle. Now what I'm asking each V6 driver to try to notice if their truck vibrate between 60mph and 75 mph. It's a little shake if you take your hands off the wheel.

Touareg :: V8 - Slight Vibration While Stationary?

I thought it was just my imagination but I have since noticed a slight vibration in the car while I am stopped at a stoplights. This problem is intermittent, and not caused by sitting on a bridge or other roadway that can move. I can sit at a stoplight and turn off the Climate Control, it still vibrates. The RPMs are constant, nothing seems to be wrong other than the vibrations. The radio will be off (I turn off the techno). It looks like Jurassic Park when there is a water bottle in my cupholder. The vibration is steady in both intensity and frequency, and will not go away on its own once I notice it while stopped. The problem is pretty intermittent and I have been unable to reproduce it for a service tech.

V8 w/ 8k miles.

Touareg :: V6 Grinding / Vibration At All Speeds

Lately, Im noting a grinding like feeling at all speeds. Its as if something in the wheels/drive train isn't smooth (like a busted bearing) and there is a low grinding noise that is consistent with the engine revs. I can feel it in the gas pedal and on the shifter when I place my hand on it.

Touareg :: Vibration / Howl At The Rear?

I searched and found a couple of threads with regards to a vibration or howl at the rear of some of the V6 Touaregs. Starts around 55MPH and continues up to 70 (fast as I've gone since this started). Not so much a vibration as a low pitched, but loud, howl.

Wife and kids noticed it as well. First time, since its winter, I thought perhaps snow or ice in the wheel well or a buildup on the rim was causing an imbalance. Not the case.

Wheel bearing? Car goes in for service next week, but I have a feeling that if I can't get it narrowed down dealer will tell me everything is okay.

Passat (B6) :: Pulsing / Rhythmic Sound When Going Above 50 MPH

I need to determine what this sound is. We just got an 07 Certified Pre-Owned Passat with about 30k miles on it. We've noticed a pulsing, rhythmic sound when going above 50mph. Some observations:

The sound starts literally at 50mph and is present at any speed above that.Sound is speed insensitive. It is a constant rhythm at any speed above 50mphSound is NOT present when in Park and revving the engine ( I think this rules out the turbo, not sure)Downshifting to 5th and 4th gear does not make the sound go away

I'll list some more if I think of any. I'm a noob with the 2.0T but have the tiptronic transmission in my MKV Rabbit and have never had any issue like this one.

Here's a video I recorded: [URL] ....

I suppose I should've started filming at 50mph, as opposed to a constant 80 in the video. The sound is the same though. You should be able to hear it starting in the first 10 seconds. The sound at 40 seconds is just me rolling down the windows.

Last week the breather valve was replaced because it got stuck and was making a whiney whistling sound. Dunno if that would be related.

Touareg :: Slight Vibration Above 60mph - Alignment?

I put on Cayenne 19" wheels with the high performance tires during my 5K checkup. After 4k more miles I noticed a slight vibration above 60mph, which normally indicates an alignment problem. As I never hit a large pothole or curb, I took it to my VW dealer, (VW of Springfield, VA). They managed to get VW to pay for the alignment, as my it was off when checked. Nice!!! My VIN # was 13,9xx.

V6 Touareg, Sunroof, roof racks (locked together at rear.) At certain speeds (40-45mph) there is a loud vibration on the roof. If the sunroof is opened or raised, the vibration stops. Nothing visible on the roof or sunroof which would suggest the cause of the noise.

Touareg :: Noisy Vibration Around 2500 Rpm In 2nd And 3rd When Accelerating

I test drove an 08 VR6 Touareg 2 this evening. Felt quite nice though I even with the upgraded V6, I found myself stomping on the gas on the freeway to overtake compared to my 05 V8.

Anyway, what I wanted to post about was a vibration type noise occuring just around 2500rpm in 2nd and 3rd (and possibly others) when accelerating. At first, I thought it might be something in the muffler, but I wound down the windows and it didn't seem to be coming from the outside.

Note that the sound was not any kind of throaty roar - it sounded like something was loose/vibrating. Hopefully this is limited to the particular example that I drove?

Touareg :: Intermittent Vibration / Rattle Behind Dash?

I have an intermittent rattle sound which comes from behind the dash. It just seems to come and go, and I can't find any pattern as to when it happens. It can happen while driving or standing still. Of course, it NEVER happens when the car is at the dealership.

It sounds like a marble is back there vibrating (others have discribed this as well). I can't be sure where it is coming from, but perhaps from behind the instruments?

Others have reported it, but say only that they "turn up the radio". Sometimes I have my wife and kids in the car, so turning up the radio is just not an option. I want it fixed! What it could be???
