Honda civic 2008 and I notice that while I accelerate the car at the first time I hear the heavy engine sound while comparing to the other carall the oils have been changed recently.
View 4 Repliesbefore there was a problem in my car like when ever i was accelerating the car i feel that there is a heavy engine sound and i consult the mechanic some said me that the engine mounts to be replaced and some said that spark plug to be replaced [Present ODO Meter is 124,000 km]but now i am feeling that when i am initially accelerating the car ["without turning on AC"] It gives some sound from the silencer and the car is moving slowly and car is shaking when i am turning the AC on it shakes very badly and even though it is moving like a tortoise at the initial stage even though i accelerate later it is moving fast...

View 5 Replies,My '98 Honda Civic EX (manual 5-speed) is currently at 200,000 miles and makes a gargling/metallic rattling noise when I accelerate from low RPMs or whenever I'm climbing a hill. The noise sounds as if loose change is rattling around somewhere in the engine. I started noticing this a few years ago, when it was very slight and it only happened in second gear as I climbed a steep hill.
Over time, it started happening in third and fourth gear, and now it is in all gears when climbing a hill or when accelerating quickly on level ground. I also notice a lack of power when this noise is occurring. In the past, if I let off the accelerator just a little bit, or if I greatly increased on the gas, the noise would disappear. Now, increasing on the gas makes the sound worse.
I own a 2007 Honda Civic. For the last several months, the car starts making a strange mechanical whining sound when turned on. The sound grows louder when accelerating or going in higher rpms. It also seems to get a little quieter when I turn on the air conditioning. But the soubd never goes away. Car otherwise runs perfectly fine and never fails to start. Took it to two different honda dealerships to have it looked at. One said it had something to do with the a/c, the other said the alternator might be the alternator. I tested the alternator with a voltmeter and it seems to be working just fine. However, when you open the hood, the sound seems to be coming from the alternator area.
View 7 RepliesMy 1990 Honda Civic DX died in heavy rain. Diagnosis: Need new alternator. Got it. Car immediately started surging loudly whenever idling. Took it back to the shop. 3 mechanics huddled for 3 hours and couldn't figure out what was wrong. Quick fix: Deactivate IAC. They said I should be good for a couple of months. Took one 25-mph drive around the neighborhood. Car ran very rough; panel under steering wheel jolted loose. Made it home but now car won't start. Battery is fine. Wonderful Firestone manager is willing to look at car again. I'm broke after the alternator on top of paying the IRS in April and really want to keep my generally reliable car (only 255,000 miles), at least through the hot South Florida summer.
View 10 RepliesMy 1998 Civic coupe Si has 160,00 miles and I enjoy her today as much as I did the day I bought her new 15 years ago!Just recently the manual shifting has become heavy and "sticky". Problem popped up almost from 1 day to the next. Not gradual.Still shifts OK, and no other transmission issues.
Second issue: Pinhole in catalytic converter (according to garage). Any way to patch it? Just trying to baby her along without putting too much $ into repair.
I have a 1999 Honda Civic and it won't start. When I turn the key there is no engine sound, all is quiet. We tried the jumper cables but no results. It had been in the garage since my husband passed away, I usually started it on the weekends but have not done so for a month or so. What can be the cause?
View 9 Replies'95 Civic, 225k, .5 fuel injected, A/T . . . we've had a lot of rain lately . . . last few mornings when I started the Civic after an overnight rain the engine started right up but putt-putted like a motorboat for a few seconds . . no more than 5-6 seconds, then cleared-up and ran smooth all day. Last night it didn't rain and it started without the motorboat effect. New plugs and wires (within 5k) . . . I'm thinking cap and rotor (has about 40k on cap and rotor). Ignition issue or fuel?
View 2 RepliesJust had engine replaced by dealership due to oil plug coming out on highway and subsequent engine damage (their fault).As soon I picked it up, felt left to right vibration going from front to back during acceleration.Took it back to dealership. They balanced/rotated tires and checked alignment (they said within specs). Still feeling vibration and so did technician who rode with me.The service advisor pulls me over and said that per the "Honda Master Mechanic" they spoke to via phone, vibration is being caused by engine timing not being correct because, being it it had to be reset, the computer needs 500 miles to set it correctly. Does this sound like bull to you to? I'm thinking damaged strut when they dropped front end to install engine or motor mount.

When completely cold, the engine on starting sounds very loud, a bit like an aero engine. On warming up however, the engine noise returns to normal. This problem apparently started quite suddenly, a few months ago. It is difficult to express a sound in words, but if the normal engine makes a Vrooom sound, then the sound when cold is more like an Aaaaaarrrr. I lifted the bonnet, and looking at the engine compartment, the sound seems to eminate from the left hand side of the engine block.
I did notice that when accelerating from a Stop sign just after starting the car, that I could here the engine revving up over the Aaaaarrrrr noise, and it seemed to be normal.
For reference, I am a qualified Engineer, but have little experience in car repairs. My practical knowledge goes as far as changing the battery, spark plugs or oil/air filters.
I have a 2002 Honda civic (manual). Lately, when I have pushed in the clutch to start it, the engine makes a bad sound. It sounds similar to the sound an automatic would make when you turn the key while it is already running.
View 3 RepliesSo I just bought this 08 civic LX (110k miles). After a few days of flawless driving, we noticed a couple wires NOT connected that were coming from the hood opener-sensor thing. Plugged them together and noticed no difference in the car until I let the car sit for about 6 hours then thats when the trouble started. Tried starting the car and the engine had trouble cranking then would stop. Pulled the key out and tried a couple more times and finally the engine started. The next day I had to do the same thing to get the car to start and now 2 days later the car wont even crank. No ticking, no cranking- nothing. Battery date is 10/14 so its coming up on 2 years old. When I turn the car to "On", everything works (stereo, lights, headlights, dashboard lights- everything). You would notice no difference until you tried starting the car.
I haven't gotten to it yet but I haven't tried cleaning the battery connections. Just looking at them I cannot notice any problems or visual corrosion. Im thinking that because I plugged those wires from the hood-sensor-thing, its a bad sensor and drew current from the battery while the car was off.
If this was the case then jumping the car would probably fix it but nope, not my lucky day. Jumping the car didn't work at all and before I start checking fuses and connections, what the problem could be.

In the mornings, when I start it, it shakes & makes a hollow shaking noise in the engine compartment. This noise is normally more noticeable after having it parked overnight or not driving it for a few hours. The shaking noise is more pronounced after being parked overnight, starting it, & also putting it in reverse. After driving it for 30min, the noise & shaking stops.
I purchased a 2006 Ford F-150 XLT, 5.4 3V Triton. Last Thursday my check engine light came on, so I came to this forum and found out how to retrieve the code with out a OBD. It came up as a 0301 Misfire cylinder 1-10?
I went to the dealer and they said it was cylinder one, sold me a new plug and coil pack and they installed it for a nice $$$. On my way home it started to sputter again when you give it heavy throttle, I called they told me that I should change all the plugs and Coil packs, kinda makes sense but to have all 8 plugs and coils go at once it only has 83km on it.
I have an issue with my 98 honda civic lx, with 197000 mils. Recently I had my Check engine light on. I ignored it for a day. The next day started my car and in the middle of the road it stopped moving, meaning in spite of accelerating it doesn't move. So I stopped at the shoulder, turned off the engine. After a while I started again, the car moved but later on it stopped moving when I was accelerating. The Engine did not turn off during the stall. Couple of weeks back the car was shaking on the front side when I was driving, it felt like the car was about to stop as if it was short of fuel.I changed the spark plug 15000 miles back. Water pump and timing belt was changed 25000 miles back.Car has a highway mileage of 32 mpg.
View 4 Repliesmy brand new honda was recently involved in a really bad accident. It was in the shop for almost 2 months and had issues everywhere because I was t-boned. I just got it back a few weeks ago and recently it started to make a humming or ringing sound as i accelerate and start to slow down. You can even feel a slight vibration on my gas pedal and its making me very concerned since it was completely quiet prior to the accident. Thoughts? I would probably take it back to the shop that fixed it considering this would be their issue since they fixed it improperly and the length it took to fix was ridiculous.

Just lately I thought I picked up at tree branch or something make a noise very similar to pulling a hung up branch or something.. Stopped, looked under truck (everywhere) no dice! Then did some research.. Noise went away when not giving it gas or gliding in nuetral just when light or heavy accelerating! Where do I begin??
View 7 RepliesMy Civic started to make high pitch noise when turning right or left, and also when accelerating. It makes more noise when I keep the wheels turning but ceases the noise when I let the handle go and go straight. When accelerating, it ceases the noise as it reaches 30 mph or so. It has got 93000 miles on it. It started the noise about 10 months ago and I feel like it increased the noise over the time. I don't drive everyday and I try to drive my wife's Prius when I drive since it has better gas milage. But this noise is quite annoying and wonder what it is.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2010 Honda Civic with about 67,000 kms. There's a mechanical squealing noise that's started over the last week when I accelerate and turn. It's coming from all 4 wheel areas. It only seems to disappear when I brake. Although if I run/accelerate the car for longer than 5 mins, it disappears as well. Additionally, there's a stretching/groaning noise from the tire area when I reverse. I'm thinking it's probably shock or suspension related.
