The right tire/wheel is making the squeaking sound when driving. The sound stops when brakes are applied. The sound comes only few times and not all the times. It does not sound when driving on highways.
View 5 RepliesSometimes when driving I hear a light squeaking sound coming from the front wheel area. When i drive slow, it is a slow squeak, and when I go fast, the squeaking speeds up. I am thinking about spraying some wd-40 or silicone lubricant behind the wheel to lubricate the area to see if it solves my problem. I will be sure not to get any near the brake area but my question is, does spray wd-40 under the chassis or around the control arm area to stop those annoying squeaking sounds?
View 6 RepliesI just replaced my front brake pads and rotors. Car had no squeaking sounds before this. When changing the right front pads and rotor, the set screw that holds the rotor in place snapped on me when I tried to remove it. I drilled out the remaining screw and inserted an easy out / screw extractor to try to remove the broken screw. Screw wouldn't turn/budge and eventually the easy out snapped in half while trying to turn it. Here is where I fear I made a little problem into an even bigger one; I tried to remove the broken easy out by banging the back end (smaller end) of it with a hammer and screwdriver, hoping it would pop out from the front of the hub. No success, and continued using a lot of force to try to remove it from the rear part of the hub. Eventually I noticed the hub area by the back of the easy out bent a little from me using force from the rear to remove the easy out. I stopped there, bent the hub section back to original shape (didn't bend too much to begin with) and sawzawed off the protruding end of the easy out from behind.
After driving a few times I started noticing the squeaking sound coming from the front right wheel, the sound sounds like is in tune/harmony with the wheel rotation. As soon I step on the brakes, the sound stops. I had a similar sounding problem with a rear wheel a long time ago and it ended up being that the bearing needed adjustment. I know the front bearings are pressed in so they can't be adjusted. I am thinking the force used to try to remove the broken easy out damaged something with the hub or bearing or maybe the axle nut.
So I got my 2004 Grand Am about 2 months ago and noticed after about a week that the front right tire was low. I put air in it, came back to check it in the morning and it was down again. I had it looked at and was told that the tire was pulling away from the rim because of the rim eroding. He put some bead sealant on it and got rid of the erosion on the rim. Everything was fine. But then about 2 weeks later I started to notice a slight crunch when I went over bumps. Over the past month and a half the sound has gotten progressively worse.
It sounds extra bad when I am making a right turn. My brother put it on a lift, took the tire off, pushing some things around and couldn't figure out the source of the sound. Everyone who drives in the car with me can hear it. Other than that annoying sound the car is beautiful but the sound makes it seem like a junky car and it's not. It doesn't crunch when I break or at high speeds (maybe because I can't hear it). I'd hate to bring it to another mechanic and pay dollars for him to tell me he can't figure out the sound either. The car had it's suspension checked etc.

I have been hearing a knocking sound from rear passenger side wheel. My car is a Toyota Solara 2007 with 87k miles on it, tires were changed last week so the issue is not with the tire. I have attached the video url. Why am I hearing this noise. The noise starts after I drive for some distance (15-20 miles), it does not start as soon as I start driving.
Two different Subaru dealership repair shops told me that i have loose rear wheel bearings on my 2003 Outback. My car does sound like a VERY loud airplane all the time now, but the noise is the only symptom i have noticed. My shop has told me that they will fix it for a discounted price, but they are not pushing me to get it fixed, and have told me that it shouldn't cause any actual problems besides the loud noise being very annoying. All internet research to the contrary, though. I have to drive about 1000 miles round trip next month -- is it just going to be a noisy trip, or is something horrible going to happen if i don't get the bearings taken care of?
View 12 RepliesI have owned this car for about 6 months now and cannot get to the bottom of this sound/action. I have taken it to multiple shops, including the dealer where I bought it from, a Honda dealership, and two other shops (Firestone Complete Auto Care, and a local shop which is goodyear backed.) Here is the deal:
When I accelerate past 50 mph and up to 75 miles per hour, and also when I cruise at any speed between those numbers, my car has a very distinct vibration in both the seat and steering wheel. It also has a sound that matches the intensity and magnitude of the vibration itself. The sound and vibration intensifies and decreases with changes in speed, the sound changes pitch when turning the wheel from one side to another, and the vibration gets worse as I drive up or down hills. This sound also gets louder if I apply the brakes suddenly, but also decreases with the speed of the car.
Things I have had checked:
Ball bearingsRims (One rim was actually bent (steel rims), and now is replaced.)Alignment (This was actually done at least 4 times since I've had the vehicle)Replaced tires (to rule out tire noise, and also the tires were going bad from what I believe is this problem)
I have had this car test driven to try to get opinions and either the shop denies that they hear anything, or say they do not know what the sound could be. It sounds like it is coming from the front right. I have been told by the dealership from where this car came that the sound is "road noise" and should be ignored. I disagree, because if it is "road noise" then it should go away when driving on different surfaces. When I have had my alignment checked, Firestone found that my camber on my front right and left rear were off to the right, but were still within specifications. They also said there was nothing they could do, and suggested if I wanted it fixed, I should take it to a body shop.
Included are a scan of the alignment results from Firestone, and a sound clip of the sound that is captured on my phone. Also, the sound can be heard throughout the recording, but is especially clear at around the 42 second mark.
my 99 s/w 2 started making a squeaking sound coming from the front right wheel area it goes away when I apply the brakes? is that one of those built in warning features to let you know the brake pads are getting low? the brakes have 86,000 miles on them.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2 month old 2013 Prius v, recently I’m hearing a squeaking sound, a sort of rusty door hinge sound when staring the my Prius v every morning (or after parking it for around 7-8 hours or so) coming from the rear axle or wheels. What causes it or what I can do about it? I have brought it to my dealer but it seems they don’t have any clue on what is happening (or they just don’t want to do the warranty on it).
View 4 RepliesI bought my R from Carmax about a month ago with about 26K miles on it (and, needless to say, I am in love with the car). However, after a week or two of driving, I noticed a squeaking/rattling sound coming from the front driver's side wheel well area when I let off the brake. It is loud enough for me to hear it with the windows rolled up, and it continues for several seconds at least after I let off the brake (maybe longer, but I can't hear it over the exhaust).
The rattle sort of sounds like it may have something to do with the turning of the wheel, so I thought it might be related to caliper vibration or something (not that I really have any clue. At all.). Anyhow, I took my R to Carmax to have them look at it because it is still under the 30 day warranty, and I figured I would start there before taking it to the local VW dealership. I got a call a few minutes ago from the service guy, who said the following:
"Our technician took a look at your car and determined that the sound is coming from your suspension. However, it is a normal sound and there isn't anything that needs to be fixed."
I argued with him and said that the noise may or may not be immediately harmful to my car, but it is certainly not NORMAL, and something needs to be tightened, lubricated, or replaced. He said he would have his tech look at it again.

there is a LOUD squeaking noise coming from my drivers side wheel when driving. When I press the brakes then the noise goes away. I took the wheel off to duplicate the noise by turning the rotors but I couldn't. maybe I couldn't turn it fast enough though. Its not the brake/rotor shield either.
At first it was a slight squeak but now its getting really loud. embarrassing loud. Could the possible issues be calipers, brake shims, cv, axle?
2001, 5-speed, 6 cylinder, 140K miles. Under acceleration, it feels and sounds like I'm driving over road warning strips. While coasting, it goes away. The CVJ's and wheel bearings appear to be OK. Could it be the final drive? It happens in all the gears.
View 3 RepliesToday I am getting a "squeaking rubber" sound coming inside the car from the steering wheel when its turned. Not from under the hood! We had a sudden temperature drop over night but this has never happened before. Car has over 180K on it. Power steering fluid is between the lines. I don't see any plastic that is rubbing.

View 7 RepliesIs there a way to grease the steering shaft or whatever is making the squeaking sound inside the cab when I turn the wheel? It's a 2001 F250 CCSB Lariat and it drives me crazy hearing sounds I shouldn't be hearing. This is certainly not coming from outside the cab but rather in the steering shaft within the cab somewhere. How I can lube that up?
View 1 RepliesMy 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 with diesel engine, intermittently makes a noise similar to the sound knobby tires make. It also sounds similar to the exhaust brake, but louder. A vibration accompanies the noise. Two mechanics (one a tire expert, one at a Dodge dealer) test drove it and examined it on their racks and said it's the right front wheel bearing/hub assembly. I replaced that, despite not hearing or feeling any problem when rotating the wheel by hand. I've examined all tires and turned the wheels by hand while listening for odd sounds or roughness, and examined all drive shafts and joints which have not apparent problem, to no avail. When this issue first started, I heard a sound like rubber squeaking while driving at very low speed, especially in reverse.

Today I notice my battery,brake and system lights all came on and stayed on while I drove about 4 miles. Can something to do with my brakes needing repair?
View 5 RepliesMy front end has given out. Getting a crunching sound that sounds like it is coming from the tire/wheel well area. With an 06 which has only 39,000 miles and an extended warranty until 2016 the Dealer just replaced the Strut Mounts? Sounded good, did no good. I'm going back soon, but shouldn't they have replaced the shocks and springs too? It sounds like the tires are rubbing while going over bumps, with a tearing crunch. I have known every noise in my Sonata since it came off the boat from Alabama and the car only got better over time. Since this noise seemed to happen on both sides all at once, what can it be? I did hear some noises V33 had posted, but it didn't sound the same as this screeching crunching new noise?

View 12 RepliesI own an 07 Honda Civic with about 55k miles on it. It hasn't had any issues except in the past few weeks it has been making a squeaking noise when I accelerate. It has gotten worse lately. I haven't notice any difference in the way the car drives (it idles kind of rough, but that's not a big deal).
I usually take the bus, so most times my car sits for a few days at a time. My brother in law said it could be one of the belts on the motor from sitting. He said I should put some Ivory soap or something on the belt to moisturize it.
What could be causing this? Do you think it's worth taking it to get checked out?
I just drive my 2011 new Prius class 5 off the lot, and I notice the front driver side or front tire make a lot of noise. Also I turn a low speed I can hear that noise. It sound like a shock noise sometimes and it sound like tire driving on bad surface noise. Pretty much I can hear it all the time the noise is very annoying because my wheel, tire, car is brand new with 49 miles.
I'm asking Prius owner with 17 alloy wheel, do you have the same problem? Or the 15 inch wheel? I test drive the 15 and it was sort of bad but the 17 alloy make a lot of noise. I being to dealer they say it normal because of the big wheel and small tire. The bs to me, on the phone they say they will give me a same car to compare but when I got there there no Model for me to drive.
