Okay, I have a 2001 Saturn SC2 with 180,000 miles racked up. Lately, when I'm out driving, it sounds like a small prop plane. Yet, when I move the steering wheel just a bit to the left, the noise vanishes, until I steer back toward the center.
I'm dreading taking it to my mechanic, even though the shop is quite good. What this might be before I head in to the Temple of Doom?
Got a 2011 f 250 6.7...turbo started making a sound more like a turbine in a plane when I hit the throttle to cross the street...boost gage went to 0...i got a new turbocharger from garrett. Installed it and when I started the car there was no boost at all. I searched for any leaks and nothing. I get a code p132b.
View 7 RepliesAfter having my car serviced at Halvoline Xpress Lube it immediately made a noise when I turned on the heater / vent. It sounds like "grrrrrrrrrrr" and there is a vibration in the dash and a little bit of vibration in the steering wheel. It feels like the car pulls a bit when I have the vent turned to the highest setting. The higher I turn the vent, cool or heat, the louder the sound.
The work they did was:-oil change-rotate tires-pulled out two filter to show me the condition then put them back
I took it back a couple weeks later, they checked the filters, said they were fine, checked stuff, I don't know what but they seemed earnest in their efforts. They took the glove compartment apart and poked around. They couldn't understand how it was related to their work and suggested I go a mechanic and keep them posted.
It's either an amazing coincidence that when I pulled out of their garage my car developed a problem, or that they did something goofy and don't know what it is.
I own a b5.5 2.8l 30v v6. Today I went to get in the car and on start up for the first time in 3 days it started shaking a lot and making a small rumbling noise, sort of like a cylinder misfire. This isn't the first time its happened. I tried searching this up and everything seems to point toward the fuel injectors. In this past 6 months my average mpg has dropped from about 20 to 16.
I am guessing it is this, but someone also said it might be a cylinder misfire. What exactly is causing this? Also in the 1 year of owning it, it makes sort of a diesel sounding noise in the engine. Some people have told me it might just be the valves that need to be adjusted but I have no clue.
Just bought a 2008 Clio dynamique 1.2 16v when starting the car up it would make a small grinding noise. Thinking it was a starting motor issue I went and took it apart cleaned and greased it up then put it back in, went to start the car up and got nothing no turning over or anything.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Sonata Ltd (63000 miles) and had a clunk in the front suspension. I had the front upper control arms replaced (which were visually badly worn) and that fixed the problem. But now, a several months later another similar clunking noise has developed when I go over those small speed bumps in parking lots.
View 18 RepliesI drive a 94 Saturn SL1 as a part-time delivery driver for a pizza shop. Recently I bottomed out on someone's driveway. I could hear the bottom of my car scraping against the asphalt. It took several tries (in my 5-speed) to free myself from this trap. Since then I've been hearing a pretty loud "clicking" noise from the passenger side of the car every time I make a turn, where a small turn or a big turn. My mechanic replaced the left axle and the right boot, saying that both were defective. However I still hear the noise. What can I do??
View 3 RepliesI just purchased a 1995 SL1. It has 95,000 on the car. It was a tow vehicle for an older man.It has an automatic transmission. It runs great but makes this funny noise. When you put the car in drive after having it completely shut off and after starting to accelerate to about 5 mph it makes a funny click clack noise followed by a beep. It does not sound mechanical but like a relay or something. It only does it once. As long as you don't turn the car off completely it does not do it again no matter if you put it back in park. If you turn the motor off and turn the key to ACC it does not do it. No other sounds at all. Transmission shifts fine. What it might be?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 Saturn L200 that has been extremely reliable until recently. My car is suddenly unable to deal with stop-and-go traffic. After sitting in traffic for 15 minutes or so, I will hear something that sounds like a fan or electric motor come on. It sounds like it comes from under the hood on the passenger side. Shortly after that, it seems like the accelerator stops working. I let the clutch out, and hit the gas like normal, and the car stalls. When I restart the car, the fan noise is gone and it runs fine for another 5-10 mins before it all happens again. This has happened maybe 4 times over the last few weeks. It has not happened under any other driving conditions.

View 7 RepliesMy 2001 SL2 is making a lot of rattling noise. I think I have isolated it to the A/C compressor. I noticed that on the back side of the A/C clutch the plate where the signal wire connects into is very loose when the A/C is not on. The noise seems to be loudest when the A/C is not on. But when I turn on the A/C, that plate tightens up. But the noise continues. Could it just be the A/C clutch or a bearing or something? Or is the noise coming from somewhere not even related to the A/C? The A/C still works really well. I just notice the noise.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 Silverado 5.3 liter extended cab. Recently have been having issues with the A/C system making lots of noise. I have identified the noise to two spots and I believe 2 actuators..
1) behind the glove box to the fresh air / recirc door there is a constant clicking / grinding noise. Toggling the recirc button causes the noise to oscillate and the recirc door can be moved by hand, so seems the actuator is basically gone...
2) When the mode is to face only there is a gurgling / clicking noise. When I move the mode selector a little bit off of face only, the noise seems to stop.
I have been looking and looking for a solid write up for the recirc door, can't even seem to find anything that is solid on the part number for that. Seems like I could probably get my hand up behind the glove box to take off that actuator and get the part number, read a couple of write ups that seem to suggest that it is incredibly tight and hard to get to, but it can be done.
Wondering if I just remove the top of the dash while going after the mode door actuator to make life easier? And do I need to get in there with the blend door actuator while I am doing the other two? No dual climate control, so does that leave me with only three actuators? I have the "automatic" a/c controls which are knobs on the dash, I believe these are automatic, not the slides that I believe are referred to as manual?
My girlfriends car is making noise while turning and I'm sure it is cv axles i have done them before on my old jetta so I'm sure i can do it.
Question is I'm just not sure which ones she needs it is a automatic and I don't see any wires going to the caliper but i have not removed the wheel to check and the dealer said that the front is abs and the rear is not so I am lost here is the vin.
My TCS light is on. I feel a terrible pull when I get up to 40 miles an hour that wont go off. Feels like the car isn't shifting. I sound like a jet plane ready to take off. Took it to car repair shop- he said it was a transmission issue so take it to transmission mechanic- especially since I still have 3 months left on my warrenty. I took it there and they claim it is a "wheel bearing issue".. Should I take it to a different repair shop- like a brake specialist? This van has 220,000 miles.

A couple weeks ago I notice that my car has started making some noise and has become a rough drive. Whenever I rev, especially between 0-30 mph, its like a mini jackhammer, or a sputtering/rumbling sound when I drive.
What it could be, and what I should do?
I charged my AC a few weeks ago. After I added oil it began to make noise. Like metal on metal or a bad bearing. Could be the clutch pulley, bad bearing from what I've read. I don't want to replace it, nor do I want to spend the time and money putting in a bypass pully. I'd like to simply bypass the AC compressor by putting a shorter belt on. Problem is I can't seem to find any clear info on how and what size belt to use. I see a few saying it can be done and one saying it can't. Also, is the 2.4 the same as the 3.0 in regards to the belt diagram?I need to fix this asap, before it seizes up and I lose the belt or damage other stuff.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2002 Saturn SL with about 160k miles. She's been a great car but recently she starts to oversteer when making moderate left turns over 35 mph. It always happens when the car's weight shifts to the right side. It is predictable but it still feels unsafe to drive. Unfortunately My mechanic couldn't find anything wrong with it.

View 19 RepliesAny fix for the rear brake noise I am getting on a 2001 Elantra. I pulled the drums off and inspected the drums and shoes all looks fine. Then I adjusted the brakes cleaned everything and still get noise. It occurs as the vehicle is coming to a stop last 10mph to stop.

It makes a cranking noise before it turns on, and it takes about 2 to 3 times for it to fully turn on. I changed the crank shaft sensor and the fuel pump. What can it be?
