Alcohol :: Starting Naltrexone And Counting By Ounces

May 7, 2016

Tomorrow I plan on starting the naltrexone.  Since I'm not a math whiz and as long as I'm lowering my drinking habits is it OK if I count by ounces?  Please don't try to explain units to me.  Honestly, I've been reading on it and it looks like another language.  As long as I'm lowering my intake counting by ounces should be OK, yes?

Alcohol Abstinence :: Naltrexone Vs. Campral?

I'm in such a dilemma at the moment. Carry on with naltrexone or go down the total abstinence route with campral( like RHGB). Confused, depressed, very unhappy, feel ill all the time etc

Well you kind of know from my past about my horrendous drinking and consequences re many hospital admissions, cells, rehabs etc. Longest sober 5 months last year but was in a relationship. Been on my own now for 6 months( first time since 1989!).

Anyway, I've been taking naltrexone now on and off for several weeks. My drinking is now down to 3/4 to a bottle of white wine when I drink, using naltrexone.

The problem I am facing now is major depression and insomnia when I don't drink. It's horrendous. Major aches and pains, depression like I'm crying all the time, can't face anyone but my parents and kids. I've become a recluse!

I'm so happy that I can drink now without more than bottle of white wine but the next day I feel horrendous. I know in the past that if I'd just drink a bottle I would be OK the next day. But now I'm horrendous the next day as though I'd drunk 2-3 bottles.

Alcohol Abstinence? Day 2 Of Naltrexone After 10 Years Of Dependence

I'm on day 2 of naltrexone after over 10 years of alcohol dependence and abuse (so early days i know) and feel really positive....last night i only had/needed 3 pints instead of my usual 6 plus wine. i've agreed with the counsellor i'll use naltrexone to cut down and then start a detox when i finish my exams in a month's time, but i'm worried how i'll manage. if i still need a couple of pints when i'm on naltrexone, how will i ever manage to make the switch to abstinence?

Fibromyalgia Syndrome :: LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone And Chronic Pain

I've been on LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone for a few months now. It's been a bumpy road and the journey has had both positive and negative points.

I've been adjusting the dose but in so far the 3 main benefits I can claim from it are:

- some sleep improvement;

- less pain intensity;

- apparent normalising effects on some blood markers such as LDH (lactate dehydrogenase).

However I feel exhausted to an unbearable point and continue prone to inflammation. I've decided to continue treatment with LDN because I've read extensively about it and many authors say it may take up to a yer to come to fruition.

Meanwhile I've resorted to naturopathic medicine and I'm under treatment as well.

We're all different in the way we react to medications and because I've been reading so much suffering here with so little hope of remission that I thought of encouraging you of not giving up and trying new things.

I would like to share with you a recent study on LDN whose Abstract is:

"The use of low-dose naltrexone (LDN) as a novel anti-inflammatory treatment for chronic painJarred Younger, [corresponding author]  Luke Parkitny, and David McLain

Abstract

Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) has been demonstrated to reduce symptom severity in conditions such as fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and complex regional pain syndrome. We review the evidence that LDN may operate as a novel anti-inflammatory agent in the central nervous system, via action on microglial cells. These effects may be unique to low dosages of naltrexone and appear to be entirely independent from naltrexone is better-known activity on opioid receptors. As a daily oral therapy, LDN is inexpensive and well-tolerated. Despite initial promise of efficacy, the use of LDN for chronic disorders is still highly experimental. Published trials have low sample sizes, and few replications have been performed. We cover the typical usage of LDN in clinical trials, caveats to using the medication, and recommendations for future research and clinical work. LDN may represent one of the first glial cell modulators to be used for the management of chronic pain disorders.

Sertraline :: Anxiety And Leg Cramps After Starting

I've been horribly depressed for the last six months after stopping Zoloft which I had been taking, successfully, for years. Thought I might not need it anymore but I definitely do.

I remember feeling horrible the first time I started taking Zoloft. I was nauseous, nervous, shaky, dizzy and had horrible anxiety. I was given an antianxiety medication to help me cope back then .

Today I just hit three weeks and have been titrating my dose each week to where I am now at the dose I had taken prior to stopping Zoloft. Overall I've had a bit of nausea but nothing like the first time. The symptoms that seem at their peak at the moment are chest gripping anxiety, a feeling of internal shakiness, and leg cramps.

Anyone had these symptoms and remember if, and when, they went away or what you did to cope with them?

I live by myself after being divorced and feel frozen a lot of the time. I think I'm suffering from PTSD due to traumatic events of the past.
Thank you!

Birth Control :: Starting Microgynon 30 Midcycle

I started taking Microgynon 30 about half way through my cycle (I think I had finished ovulating when I started, but I'm not completely sure). I was wondering if I would get my period as normal this month, or if the Microgynon would delay it until I finish the pack (like it would if I had started it at the start of my cycle)? If I do have my period as normal, will it be shorter/lighter this month?

Child Health :: Precocious Puberty Starting At 4

I am writing this posting to gain some further understanding of the premature puberty.

My daughter was 4 1/2 when I noticed her having proper body odour. The doctor said that some kids just get it and for her to wear deodorant. I was never totally happy with it as it didn't seem normal to me. My daughter has always been tall and slim for her age and I have always been concerned that she is a little too tall. Last summer, aged 5 1/2 I noticed she seemed to have more hairs on her legs and a couple of dark pubic hairs. I took her to a new doctor, as we had moved, and he referred her straight away to the paediatrician at the hospital, as when he looked at her height he thought she was a little too tall for her age.

A year later my little girl has breast buds and is having injections every 4 weeks to halt the puberty. She has had all the blood tests to check her hormone levels which were positive for puberty, as well as her bone age (currently 8 1/2) by x ray. She has had an MRI scan of her brain to check for tumours and ultrasound scan of her pelvis for polycystic ovaries. She has been very good with it all but all she knows is that she is growing a bit too fast and the doctors want to slow her down a bit.

We have been told by the paediatrician that it is best for her to have these injections otherwise she will start her periods, which they do not want her to do. They have also told us that unless they halt the puberty that she could end up short because she has already started her growth spurt which will finish 4 years too early. She is already 4ft 4 at age 6 and in age 9-10 clothes. Her puberty doesn't seem to be linked to obesity though as some papers seem to suggest as her BMI is healthy for her age and height. Unfortunately they don't seem to have an answer as to why this has happened to my daughter.

We are finding the hardest bit is the teenage strops and temper that appear to be coming with it. We have been told to expect her to be more grown up in age and expect the hormone strops because the injections contain a massive overdose of the puberty hormones to confuse her body. She does seem to be struggling with concentration and odd little behaviour issues at school which we feel could be related.

Orlistat :: Advice On Starting Blue Pills

I went to the docs tonight as i have gained nearly 5 stone in the space of a year all down to a different tablet I was taking for depression. I had to beg the doctor to give me these and he basically told me that they would just give me an upset tummy and that they would not help me to lose weight. I nearly cried when I got on the scales and discovered that I am over 90kilos. I have always been slim even after having 3 children, this time last year I was 9.7 stones. I have read lots of advice on this forum and am going to start a 3 day low fat diet before I start taking the tabs. I hope this will help me not get some of the side affects. Can anyone tell me what a 5g breakfast looks like really not sure on what foods are best to eat at each meal time.
