Back Issues :: MRI - Prominent Central Disc Herniation L1-L2

Mar 10, 2014

it's been awhile since I came on this board but I know there is many helpful people here. I asked for an MRI of my cervical but neurologist ordered MRI of my Thoracic region.

There is a small hemangioma arising from the right aspect of the body of T6.

A small right of midline disc herniation at T7/T8. It mildly effaces the ventral surface of the cord.

There is a central disc herniation present at L1/L2. This herniated disc measures 11 by 7 mm. There is compression of the anterior sac.

Impression:
1. Small right of midline disc herniation T7-T8.
2. Prominent central disc herniation L1-L2.

My symptoms are pulsing pain around my bra line. Weird deep pains that is hard to explain. Either the inside of thighs or from buttocks to ankles. Feet feel heavy.

Back Pain :: Diffuse Disc Bulges Narrowing The Central Canal

I had am mri w/o contrast and the findings were:

C2-3, the central canal and neuralformina are patent.

C3-4, a diffuse disc bulge effaces the thecal sac. There is minimal narrowing of the neural formina.

C4-5, a diffuse disc bulge effaces the thecal sac. There is mild narrowing of the neural formina.

C5-6, there is a disc/osteophytic ridge with moderate narrowing of the central canal and neural formina.

C6-7, there is a diffuse disc bulge asymmetric to the left. There is mild narrowing of the central canal. The right neural foramen is patent. There is moderate narrowing of the left neural foramen.

C7-T1, the central canal is patent. There is mild narrowing of the right neutral foramen and moderate narrowing of the left foramen.

Conclusion:

diffuse disc bulges narrowing the central canal and neural formina as described, most pronounced from C5-6 through C7-T1.

Disc Prolapse :: Spinal Disc Decompression For Central Disc Bulge In L5/S1

I have been experiencing the lower back pain which is local from last 5 years. My MRI reports says that there is a central disc bulge at l5/s1. Where outer annular tear is intact.

I have seen a chiropractor who has recommended spinal disc decompression sessions on Hill DT.

As per the doctor, it will relocate the disc back to its normal position and make the disc healthier as before.

Just would like to know if someone has gone for the similar treatment for the similar problem. If yes kindly share your experience.

Disc Prolapse :: Large Herniation In My L4/L5 It's Going 5 Months

I have had right at 24 visits of Physical therapy at 6 visits of aquatic therapy and nothing seems to help at all,Last month I have been dealing with a lot of pain and when I went and seen my Neurosurgeon on 8/20 he thought I reherniated the disc again so he ordered Flexion Xray and another MRI, it showed that the was no sign of a reherniation but a week before my surgery he told me that I had a slipped or bulging disc because of the traumatic injury I had to my L4/l5, so it definitely showed that and now I have been in a Back Brace for 4 wks because my spine has shifted 1.1 millimeters and I have what they call spondylolisthesis,I just had another xray yesterday and he ordered a Nerve Conduction test cause I had already had issues neurological issues w/right leg after surgery and now with this more pain that I'm having issues now with my left leg aswell,My question is doing you think my Dr might have missed something or not......

Spinal Cord :: MRI:- C5-C6: Posterior Central Disc Osteophyte?

what this means! C5-C6: Posterior central disc osteophyte complex formation results in mild anterior effacement of the thecal sac. Endplate spurring and facet arthropathy results in mild narrowing of the right exit foramen.

Back Issues :: Torn Disc At L4/L5

I have a a torn disc at L4/L5 (not herniated). It showed up in an MRI I had in March 2014 (and symptoms first showed up, I believe, two years before that). I won't go through why it took two years to be properly diagnosed (my handle here was created when I thought I was going to have to have reconstructive foot surgery because I am severely overpronated).

I had an epidural 12 days ago, and the chronic lower back pain I had when seated has been reduced significantly. Of course, I hope that it will last for a long time. I am starting PT.

I am wondering if anyone with a similar diagnosis ended up feeling the same way I did, and, if so, if/how you finally got better.

Before I ever had any pain, I first had a sense of being out of alignment. First thing I noticed was my right shoulder and back slumping on my right side. I have a desk job, and this sounds nuts, I know, but I started holding a dictionary in my lap as a sort of "guide" to align myself against.

Eventually I started shifting in my seat all the time; it felt like my pelvis was out of balance. I couldn't find balance from my right foot to my right glute; I had to really work at it. On a recumbent bike, my right leg turned in. At the gym, not really knowing what I was trying to do, I would constantly reach down and touch my right heel (when seated on a bench), as if trying to straighten my foot. I couldn't clench my right butt cheek, and my right glute eventually atrophied to the point that my gym shorts would slide down my right side, and I could feel the difference in my glutes in my jeans.

I felt like I was caved inward on my right side from my neck to the bottom of my foot. Breathing was affected.

My gait was messed up: It began to feel as if I were walking on two different legs; it didn't hurt to walk, it was just difficult. Sometimes I had a limp. It was difficult to stand for any length of time, again, because of feeling misaligned rather than pain.

Low right back pain when seated kicked in, and starting about nine months ago, was chronic. It hurt all day long, and I ate ibuprofen like M&Ms.

So now, as I say, I have (what I believe is) a correct diagnosis; have had the epidural, which has greatly reduced the back pain.

Now I just have the lingering sense of my back and shoulder on the right side not being aligned, and still have mobility and gait issues. Have had only the initial PT consult, but gearing up to go twice a week next week.

My question (finally! sorry!): With a small torn disc at L4-L5 like this, did you feel like that? And, more important, did you get better? From when symptoms first started (the dictionary days) until now, it's been nearly four years. I think all the alignment stuff just got worse and worse during that time because I couldn't get a proper diagnosis. I hope I can get better.

Spinal Cord :: Protrusion Is Same As Herniation

Is a small disc protrusion on my MRI report saying I have a small Herniation?? I have small central disc protrusion at c5-6 and a focal central bulge at c6-7. So does protrusion mean herniated? I'm so confused. The back pain management doc said "hmm, its nothing" when I asked. Does anyone know the difference?

Mild Abdominal Pain With Lower Back Pain - Herniated Disc?

I have been getting pain for a couple month in my lower back, but it's only been very mild pain. I started getting the pain after very heavy deadlifts at the gym, then the pain has been sporadic for that time.

I went for sprints on Sunday morning and then afterwards my lower back was really in pain. I felt sick and dizzy in the evening for about 2 mins, then it quickly passed. However, since Sunday I have been experiencing mild abdominal pains in the mid abdomen area (near the belly button) and my bowel movement has changed as i haven't been going as regularly the last few days.

I am just curious as I haven't been to the doctors yet. I wanted to go and see the best doctor at my surgery, but unfortunately he isn't available until next tuesday. If it gets worse then I will definitely make an appointment with another doctor, but at the moment it isn't giving me too much problems, just the mild pain is all.

Has anyone experienced this before and could it be a slipped disc that is causing the stomach pain and lack of bowel movement? I had no problems before Sunday when I think I further injured my back.

Disc Prolapse :: Slipped Disc Trapping The Nerve

Hi all, before xmas my back started to get sore but i thought with 2 weeks rest during the holiday it would get better. Day before i was due to go back to work it was really bad. I went to the osteopath and it felt like he had fixed it so i was pleased. Few days after i started to get pains from the top of my buttock all the way down my leg into my foot, I then realized that i had sciatica. The pain is really nasty and i get pins and needles in some of my foot and calf. It has stopped me walking properly and i limp about. Week ago i had an MRI scan and it revealed that one of the discs is trapping the nerve. I have good and bad days but i cant walk properly and pain killers really help. I went back to the doctor today and he thinks from the results of the scan i should arrange to have surgery as it hasn't improved over 8 weeks. I really don't want to go to hospital as it seems extreme and i haven't tried any of the other options.

Disc Prolapse :: Disc Has Broken Off And Was On My Spinal Cord

I had a disc prolapse in january this year(08 ).i just thought i had severe back pain as i usually did have back pain.on the 2nd of january i went to hospital as the pain got so severe,i couldn't walk and the pain was in my left leg.the hospital gave me a pain killer told me it was siatica and sent me home.two days later my pain was unbearable so i went back to hospital who yet again examined me and told me to have accupuncture and was sent home.On the 23rd january i stood up and had lost control of my bladder the pain was so horrific i decided to go to a different hospital.when i arrived they examined me and told me i was to have an mri scan.where they tried to lay me in the mri scanner but could not so transferred me to a different hospital.at the hospital they took 4 hour to do my mri because i was in so much pain i could not lie on my back.when they finally did an mri they could see that my disc had broken off and was on my spinal cord,i had an emergancy operation and was told if i had left it another 24 hours i would never have walked again.i wish the first hospital would have examined me properly in the first instance.i never had suffered so much pain in my life i was in agony.i had the op and now 11 months on i'm still recovering but at least i can walk.

Disc Prolapse :: Two Disc Bulges At C3-4 And C5-6 In My Neck

I have been told that I have two disc bulges at c3-4 and c5-6 in my neck. There is also a large broad based posterior left paracentral and intraforaminal disc protrusion at c6-7 that is compressing the nerve.

I am being referred on to a specialist but that is ages away. I would be greatful for any advice in terms of

(1) what is the likely solution for this diagnosis i.e can physio sort this out or will it be an op?

(2) are there any immediate dangers ?

(3) can i still exercise?
